Our final day of rainbows, featuring Ip Dip Sky Blue.
Today is our final day of rainbows and I have to confess that we cheated slightly by slipping in an eighth day, although when you see what I have to show you, I’m sure you will agree that it is too beautiful not to share. I would like to say a huge thank you to Stickerscape, Emma Vallis, Hope and Rainbows, Mary at The Hearty Life, Sylvanian Families and todays thanks to Ip Dip Sky Blue. It has been lovely to have so much support in sharing our rainbows, raising awareness of Pregnancy and Baby Loss and providing a gentle reminder to those in desperate need of hope that with every storm, a rainbow will appear.
When Ip Dip Sky Blue expressed their interest in taking part in Rainbow Week, and offered to send us a beautiful personalised cushion, I knew immediately that it should be for Eva. Although all of my children are rainbow babies, Lewis included, Eva was the first little one who healed our hearts after losing Joseph and, in that way, gave us hope of going on to have more healthy children. It would be impossible to describe just how happy she has made us, how she made the pain in my heart, that I had carried for six long years, hurt a little less, how she reminded me that through the darkest of storms, there is always hope. As far as rainbows go, she was the brightest, most beautiful rainbow we had ever seen. And four years and two more rainbows later, I still pinch myself at how lucky we have been.

After browsing the Ip Dip Sky Blue facebook page, I fell in love with just about every item Louise has made, particularly her beautiful cushions. It comes as no surprise that Louise has a background in fashion and textiles which she clearly put to good use by starting up her business in 2012. As a mum of two boys she is familiar with the ideas, colours and patterns that appeal to young children and at the same time, fulfilling the needs of parents by providing high quality, beautifully made products that can be treasured forever.
All of Louise’s cushions are custom made and can be personalised with names, colours, size, characters and incorporate just about any theme or special items that are precious to each family. There is so much thought, and skill, that goes into each cushion and had it not been for our love of rainbows I would never have been able to choose a favourite!
Louise also makes “My Day” banners which can be used to help children establish routines or for parents with busy schedules. Again the banners are all custom made and can include names, days of the week, activities, feelings and just about anything else you can think of. As a Mum of four children with so much to remember each day, I think that these are a lovely, fun way of teaching the children about routine, organisation and responsibility.
Having spent the last couple of weeks admiring all of Louise’s creations, we were so excited to return home today to find out cushion waiting for us. The cushion was well packaged in a large cardboard box and wrapped in tissue paper with a beautiful little card and a personal message, perfect for when sending as a gift. When we opened it up both of the girls let out a shriek of excitement, “It’s a rainbow!!”, cried Megan. “And it has my name on it!”, asserted Eva as she snatched the cushion from my hands and held onto it tight!

I am a huge fan of hand made products, both for giving as gifts and buying for my own children, and the quality of this cushion most definitely didn’t disappoint. The colours and patterns in our rainbow cushion are so vibrant that the photos simply don’t do them justice.

The reverse of the cushion has the most beautiful rainbow coloured fabric, which is perfectly stitched to border the rainbow, and a discreet zip at the bottom means that the inner cushion can be removed and the cover washed when needed.

We chose to simply have Eva’s name on her cushion yet it would be lovely to have a date of birth or a christening date if buying for a baby, and for anyone having a rainbow baby, this really would be the perfect gift. Retailing at £33 (price correct at time of publishing) I would be more than happy to pay that price for something so well made and personal.

Eva was delighted with her cushion, as was I, and I even had to prise it off her to eat her pizza this evening! At four, she is so excited by anything that has her name on it, especially when it means that Megan has to keep her hands off!

I love discovering a treasure like Ip Dip Sky Blue, it is so important that we support small businesses, and I will most definitely be buying more of her creations for our family and friends children in the future.
You can find the Ip Dip Sky Blue Facebook page here and the shop over on Etsy.
I have loved sharing eight beautiful days of rainbows with you all and tonight, as every night, I shall be holding my four little rainbows in my arms and feeling eternally grateful that for us, and for you all, dreams really can come true.

Oh Cathy that must have been devastating for you, I can’t even imagine. We have been very lucky to have four healthy children, and although there should have been five, and fifteen babies lost to miscarriage, I am so grateful for what we do have. It’s important to focus on that isn’t it? xx
What a lovely initiative and the designs are amazing, so colourful and cheery. Who can feel sad, looking at a rainbow?
