Review and Win: GoXtreme Pioneer Action Cam
As a family who love to take photos and make videos, our children are always keen to get involved. And whilst they each have their own cameras, at 4, 5 and 6 we just don’t trust them enough to let loose on our action cameras! For that reason, I was interested to try the GoXtreme Pioneer, a small and compact action camera priced at just £49.99.
Featuring a 2″ screen and 140 degree view, the GoXtreme offers the clarity of 1080p/30fps video recording and still images of up to 12MP, while the built in WiFi enables live view, remote control and file sharing via your smartphone when used with the free iOS and & Android companion app.
I was surprised to discover that the camera does everything that our existing action cameras do, albeit at a lower spec, but at a fraction of the price. With a 30m waterproof housing and a huge range of essential mounts included, the camera can be worn on the body, mounted onto a helmet, and remains secure, safe and steady.
For those who are familiar with other brands of action cams, the GoXtreme Pioneer even looks very similar, in a stylish silver design, weighing just 60 grams.
It also has digital image stabilisation and time-lapse recording and comes with a rechargeable Li-ion battery. I’ll be honest, the battery life could be better, and yet on the plus side, it does re-charge quickly.
I would personally say that the GoXtreme Pioneer is an entry level action cam, perfect for a first camera or for children wanting to create videos of their own. I know that my youngest three are really enjoying copying Mummy and Daddy with their own video camera!
