The Daddy Tag
I love a good blogging tag and have taken part in many over the last year or so. A tag I find particularly interesting is The Daddy Tag by The Frenchie Mummy, one which involves the Dads answering the questions, and provides a real insight into parenting from a male perspective. When I was nominated to take part in The Daddy Tag, by the lovely The Mum Reviews I was super excited to put my husband, Gaz, in the hot seat and, all jokes aside, he truly is a fabulous Daddy to our children.

Are you a Stay at Home Daddy or a Working Daddy?
I’m a working Daddy.
Would you have it any other way?
If I could, I would love to work from home so that I had more time to spend with the children, I miss out on so many moments Monday – Friday and the weekends go way too fast! (I would also love him to work from home so I could use the bathroom in peace just once throughout the day!)
Do you co-change dirty nappies? Even the very smelly ones?
Is this a serious question? I’ve always changed nappies from the moment they were born. Do some guys not??
A little fairy gives you the possibility of breastfeeding? Are you going for it or do you run away?
I run away! That’s just weird. And now I can’t get the image out of my head… Thanks! (To be fair, the image of Gaz breastfeeding our children weirds me out just as much!)
What is the one must-have item for a daddy?
A massive TV.. Because if you have to watch nothing but Cbeebies all day, you might as well go large.
How many kids do you plan on having?
Zero more than I have now. It’s been seen to. Snippity snip…(And yet there is always the option to have it reversed….I’m just putting it out there!!)

How often do you have lads’ nights?
Lads nights? What are they? I can count on one hand the amount of times I’ve had chance to go out with the lads this year. (And I’m pretty sure I can count at least ten more than that, including a stag do to Amsterdam with their My Personalised clothing t shirts. My heart bleeds for him it really does!)
Your children’s favourite achievement?
It’s so hard to pinpoint just one achievement! So many things, Lewis winning the school football tournament, Eva producing her first drawing of me, Megan and her hilarious songs about the moon, Harry and his genius like vocabulary. Too many to list.
What is your best memory with your kid(s)?
How am I supposed to pick one best memory? I’ve got about a thousand billion memories.
(I give him a few ideas, the day they were born, our wedding day with Eva and Lewis, Christmas mornings, birthdays, holidays…)
Nah, too obvious…
(He sits and thinks a little longer….)
It’s got to be Harry saying Stick head!! (For those who have no clue what that means, you can read about it here!!

Name one thing you miss since being a daddy?
Having a lie in! (Don’t we all….)
Weight gain, before pregnancy, during, after and now? And we mean YOU DADDY, not the mummy!
Probably too slim before our first child. (Probably?? He had a thirty inch waist!!) Ballooned up with a sympathy belly during the pregnancy, or it could have been that Laura was craving cheeseburgers, and for every one she had, I had three! Lost the weight after, and now I’m fighting fit. (Cue muffled laughter from me….)
Dream holiday with your kids?
Orlando, Florida.. Going around all the theme parks.
Dream holiday without your kids or even without the other half? (You’re allowed to dream)
Orlando, Florida.. Going around all the theme parks…I’m a big kid! (No mention of whether I’m invited, although I doubt there is enough Valium in the world to get me on the plane…)
How has your life changed since having kids?
Its a lot busier, frantic and fast paced but full of love and laughter and I wouldn’t change a thing. Apart from maybe the odd lie in….
Finish the sentence “It makes my heart melt when…”
Harry says ‘I love you papa’ in his mispronounced little way. (I love this too, am gutted we didn’t encourage the children to say Papa instead of Daddy, it’s just too darn cute!!!)

Favourite beers brands and football team?
Brooklyn Lager, Samuel Adams Boston Lager, and Blue Moon Belgian Wheat Beer are some of my favourites. (I’ve noticed, the recycling bin is particularly full by Sunday night!) Manchester Utd is my football team.
Huggies or Pampers?
Whatever’s on offer. (Like he would know, it’s me who goes through the rigmarole of ordering the shopping each week!)
Have you always wanted kids?
Well not when I was twelve, no! (Laughs like he is hilariously funny!) I can’t say I even thought about it until I met my wife. But after that point it felt natural.
Best part of being a dad?
Seeing my children happy, healthy and enjoying life. (Amen to that.)

Aww this is adorable!! My little one insists on calling my husband ‘baba’ instead of daddy. He litetally puts his foot down!!
Papa is the cutest isn’t it? The girls have regressed to calling me Mama which I am secretly pleased about, so cute!! xx
haha love it! It’s a great tag isn’t it, so cool to get to hear what all the dads think, but loved your little add ons! My advice take the Valium and take a holiday, trust me I get it, my anxiety makes me never want to go anywhere, but when I force myself it is so worth it. Really hope to make it to the UK next year and yes I may take Valium! Thanks for linking up beautiful lady! #mg
Haha you’re right. I just HATE flying! I just about manage a flight to Europe but America? I have no idea how I would cope, I’d probably go into full on panic attack mid air and need knocking out!! One day we plan on doing the whole Florida holiday, need to start saving though! Oh you definitely should come over to the UK, if you’re anywhere near me I would love to meet you. xxx
I would love that, I will let you know if we make it there! I may also need knocking out if we get bad turbulence
Lovely to hear from your partner. I do think that men can turn any situation into a justification for a bigger TV though!! Great post.
Haha yes I completely agree!! I’m sure he used his deteriorating vision as an excuse last time!! xx
Such a great post – lovely to hear a dad speaking up! Your family and photos are just lovely. Kaz x
Ahh thanks lovely. xxx

Thank you for reading! xx
An interesting and also fun read. It’s good to hear a male perspective.
Thank you, a rare occasion the men get to have their say! xx
Great post and I’m so jel of the 30 inch waist! And his dream holiday with kids is mine too! #eatsleepblogrt
Haha he most definitely doesn’t have a 30 inch waist any longer I can assure you!!! xx
Ahhhh I really loved this post! And love your blog too. Cue me following you on everything haha!
#DreamTeam
Aww thanks lovely, that’s so kind of you. xx
Aw this is fab I’m gonna have to get my gazz to do this too! Xx #twinklytuesday
Yes you should! Really fun to do, look forward to reading it. xx
This is such an amazing post and I love the fact a reversal was mentioned, so is zero more really zero? x
Haha yeah, there’s no way he would agree to a reversal! Although….I could well have more children with my next husband….hehe! xx
Such a lovely interview and he comes across as such a down to earth Daddy
He’s a fab daddy thank you Kara, and thanks for reading. xx
I wonder if your other half knew that you were going to add your thoughts in brackets! A sneaky bit of editing 🙂 Nice answers! Yeah, I’m (obviously) all for hearing Dad’s voices on parenting. 🙂
Haha no he didn’t and he hasn’t commented that he has seen them! As if I would let him have his own say without sticking my oar in?! Hehe!! xx
What a brilliant interview. Love the answers he gave. #mg
Thank you, he actually really enjoyed being in the hot seat! xx
Great post. Good he shared about having the snip. My other half is looking into that. Thanks for mentioning me too!
Ah you’re welcome! I was really worried that I would feel a sense of regret with him having the snip but it was actually the best thing for our family….and our sex life, haha!! I think when you know you’re done, you need to stick with that decision and make it final or there will always be that little doubt creeping in….maybe one more? xx
I love reading these sorts of posts and his answers were all fab! Thank you for sharing with #bigpinklink x
Thank you! He really enjoyed having his say….for once! xx
I’ve still got to pin Misery Guts down to get him to do this – love these answers! #twinklytuesday
Haha bribe him with beer! Worked a treat with Gaz! xx
Aww I love this. Gaz’s answers are fab and I love your little comments too. You have some really love pictures here too 🙂 xx #mg
Thank you Wendy! I couldn’t let him have his say entirely, I always have to pip in with my own comment! Haha! xx
How nice to read a post about fatherhood rather then the normal mum tag ones. A man breastfeeding would freak me out too lol xx
It’s lovely to hear things from a Dads perspective isn’t it? And yes, me too, all of that chest hair…bleurgh!!!! xx
Aww this is so lovely Laura, and gorgeous pictures of your family! Love Gaz’s answer re the big TV…he has a point there 😉 Fab to hear things from the Daddy’s point of view Thanks for linking up to #dreamteam Hope to see you next time x
Haha he isn’t often right but I’ll give him his due on the TV choice!! See you next time! xx
Haha, love this, such a great idea. I’d be intrigued by the answers from my OH! Thanks for linking up to #MarvMondays. Kaye xo
You should do this with your OH, it’s always funny to hear what they have to say! xx
Aw, lovely answers – and I especially like the reasoning about the massive TV! 😀 #weekendblogshare
Jess Powell (Babi a Fi) recently posted…Friday Frivolity: Coffee
Yes, he has a point with the TV, its probably the only reason I let him get a bigger one! xx
Thank you so much for taking part in the #daddytag and I apologise for taking ages to comment! Crazy life at the moment! Lovely answers. I can see tat he really enjoyed the questions and his answers are quite funny. No lads night but still a stag do in Amsterdam, eh? hahaha. Boys have a short memory sometimes! And the TV must be massive to watch quality programs! LOL. Good selections of beers, I reckon Grumpy Boyfriend would agree on a lot of them. #thedaddytag
No need to apologise, life is hectic with children! He does have a very short memory when it comes to lads nights out, here’s me not been out properly in years!! We loved doing it though, great idea – thank you! xx
