SmartGlobe Adventure AR
As a parent I am a huge advocate of making learning fun and nothing is quite as much fun as the SmartGlobe Adventure AR from Oregon Scientific.

The SmartGlobe Adventure AR is so much more than just a globe, for a start it’s interactive with a Smart Pen and 3D Augmented Reality.

With the SmartGlobe Adventure you can travel millions of miles without packing a bag! Exploring the world and discovering new exciting horizons at the touch of your fingertips.

You can use the Smart Learning Pen to learn about continents, countries, geography, cultures, age-appropriate world topics and much more in this bi-lingual interactive Adventure globe offering 19 English and six French language activities.

When the SmartGlobe arrived it was so easy to set up due to the 3AAA batteries already being fitted, which was lucky as the girls couldn’t wait to try it out!!

The SmartGlobe comes with instructions and yet we found that it was quite self explanatory. You can spin the globe to discover the country of your choice and use the Smart Pen to learn more about that country. The girls favourite feature was definitely hearing about the National Anthems across the globe!

The most amazing thing about the SmartGlobe is the Augmented Reality Features, something which really did blow my mind!

Having downloaded a free app onto our phones and iphones (you can register the globe to five separate devices) you simply have to sign up for an account and off you go!

Using the Augmented Reality Features you can scan any country across the globe to see landscapes, animals, landmarks, dinosaurs and weather conditions! The children were amazed to see eagles flying over America…

Lions walking through Libya…

A whole host of dinosaurs across the globe…

And of course the worst of the weather over Europe!!

At thirteen, Lewis found the SmartGlobe so interesting and I know that it is going to be so helpful to him with his Geography work. And yet at four and five the girls were quite literally fascinated by the globe and it’s amazing to think that they will be able to use it over the next decade and get just as much out of it each year.

With the SmartGlobe having just one Smart Pen, we did have a few whinges from Megan who was desperately waiting for her turn.

And yet when Eva left the room and told Megan, “Don’t touch it! I’m coming straight back!”, she swooped in and took her chance!!

Although the SmartGlobe is aimed at children aged five years and over, Megan was perfectly capable of using the Smart Pen and it was lovely to see her learning the names of each country and repeating them over to herself. Even I some were a little confusing!

I was never interested in geography at school, there was nothing fun about looking at a map, but I loved that I too learned so much from the SmartGlobe and found myself getting really into the quizzes! That said, it was quite a hit to my ego to be beaten by a four year old!

I think it goes without saying that I absolutely LOVE the SmartGlobe Adventure AR. It’s educational, it’s innovative and most of all, it’s FUN!

If I was to recommend one item for Christmas this year it would be this – the perfect gift to see your child from primary to high school. And at just £59.99 it’s a small price to pay for a whole world of information! Pardon the pun!

Wow, I really love the idea of this. It’s just so clever. My kids are really interested in geography so this would be brilliant for them – love the idea of the national anthems and quizzes especially. Sounds like a properly good investment.
It’s such a great globe for the price, I totally recommend it! xx
What a lovely idea. It looks like a really good idea. My children love learning about different places and finding them on a map.
I agree, it’s great how easily they learn too! xx
Whoever thought about this needs a raise or something. Geography would be way easier this way, and more kids would actually want to learn about the world instead of being forced to.
The kids are super cute btw ♥
I totally agree! It’s amazing what amazing resources are available to our children these days! And thank you! xx
This looks like so much fun! I need to show my colleagues at nursery this, I bet they would love to get one for this kids! Or show it to the kids parents, they would jump at the chance!
I totally agree, it’s definitely a must for learning! xx
What an absolutely brilliant learning tool. I wish we had things like this when I Was doing geography at school!
Oh me too! We just had an atlas!! xx
Laura this is the type of thing I love. It’s so educational and as a preschool teacher (previous) it’s something I think could benefit many kids in the classroom and of course at home. I love the technology aspect and think it could make a great Christmas gift for kids.
I totally agree, I think all schools should have one! xx

I’ve always loved globes and this one looks fab. I particularly like the fact that it’s not something that’ll be grown out of in 6 months. We had a light-up globe when the boys were younger but this is a whole extra dimension – great idea!
Yes that’s what I love the most, this will see them right through til their teens! xx
Wow, that’s pretty high tech. When I think of the toys and learning tools I grew up with, this would have blown my tiny mind!
Me too! AR is pretty mind blowing isn’t it? xx

This looks great – I’d love the national anthems too, what a good way to get kids interested. I love that it appeals to all ages too – that’s so rare.
Totally! With 10 years between my first and fifth, it’s not often we find something which they can both use! xx
Wow! This looks fantastic and so educational too! Love it!
It’s amazing Katy, we love it! xx

Little man loves learning about the world and countries so I am sure he would love it!
I’m sure any child, and adult, would love it! xx
This is AMAZING :O I love the idea of making learning about the world more fun and interactive. I wonder if there’s a way to incorporate this in my ELA classes when we’re reading texts from all over the world.
Oh I bet there is! It’s a fab resource for learning! xx
I love how interactive it is from the pen teaching you countries to being able to use the phone and seeing animals. Beats my old globe hands down!
Oh totally! How times have changed! xx
being a home educator this is something i would find really useful i need to take a closer look and maybe purchase one for our family
It would be absolutely perfect for you Lisa, I cant recommend it enough! xx
It is such a fantastic globe isn’t it? Jack loves his and spends ages sitting there doing the quizzes!
It’s great to see them take such an interest in the world! xx

Oh I would totally recommend it! Fingers crossed! xx
We have this too and we absolutely love it. I love the ultimate challenge
Us too! It’s become quite competitive!! xx
Definitely the smartest way of learning through fun! The kids do need something like this to keep them away from having uncontrolled screen times which does scare me most times! I am impressed with the AR facility and the National Anthem feature you mentioned 🙂
We are really enjoying it Rishi! xx

The national anthem feature is amazing, I’m learning something new every day! xx
This is such a fantastic idea and whoever thought of it needs a big high five!
I’ve seen a lot about this an absolutely love the idea behind it, Mine are a little young for it at the moment, so I just bought a standard light up globe, but then they are older I will definitely be looking into this. Such a great learning resource.
I really would recommend it, I love that it will see them through to high school! xx
Wow, this takes the old fashioned globe to a whole new level! Amazing interactive features!
It really is amazing, the children are obsessed!! xx
wow, this is so much better than the bog standard globe my children have got (which was once my own!) I love the AR stuff and my 8 year old would love the quizzes too. A great investment as it has such an educational value x

Mine too Katy! I’m learning faster with this than I ever did during 5 years of geography! xx
I am always after educational toys and I am the same didn’t pay a lot of attention to geography. So much so that Hubby take the micky out of me a fair amount. The AR function really blows my mind too – toys have come on so much since we were kids! x
Haha I’m the same Claire, useless with geography! This globe blew my mind but even more than that, it blew my parents mind! Things really have come on! xx
Oh my goodness! This certainly teaches you a lot of information. Even the countries national anthems! That’s brilliant.
My sister in law to be could do with this. She thought she needed her passport to cross into Wales…
