Review & Giveaway- Jooki: The Smart Music Player for Kids

Music has always been a big thing in our house, from being born to some of our favourite tunes to dancing around the kitchen every night before bed, it’s the thing that makes the children, and us, the happiest. Every night at bath time Gaz will set up his iPhone and speaker and the kids will splash around in the tub to the power ballads of the 80’s, 90’s techno or the latest pop, and later they sing into the hairbrush as they get ready for bed. So when we were sent Jooki, the smart music player for kids, I knew that the children were going to love it.

What is Jooki?

Jooki is a portable, splash proof, WIFI speaker that allows your child to listen to music and stories in a screen-free environment.

How does it work?

The great thing about Jooki is that it comes with full instructions including a quick start up guide. With step by step details, and photographs along side, we were able to connect the Jooki to our wifi and Spotify account (it also works with Deezer). You then use the Jooki characters which are preloaded with sample music, place them on the Jooki player and the music starts! It’s as simple as that.

If you want to add your own music, or stream via your Spotify or Deezer, you can create play lists with the children’s favourite music and also the Jooki player has a memory card slot for you to upload your own songs onto a micro SD card for using on the go.

Once you’ve compiled your playlists you can allocate them to one of the Jooki characters via the website or the Jooki app. I recommend downloading the app so you can easily access it and make any changes quickly and easily.

Via the app you can also access parental controls which is something I was really impressed with,. You can make sure that your children only listen to age appropriate music (something I very much advocate) and also access the volume limiter function so music can only be played at a moderate level to protect little ears. We removed the volume limiter purely due to the fact our house is already pretty noisy so it was difficult to hear at a lower level, but it’s great to know it’s there.

As well as music you can access stories too which the children have really enjoyed as well as discovering new types of music from classical to jazz. It’s really open up their eyes to a whole world of music!

What did we think?

The children are absolutely loving the Jooki and especially the independence in choosing their own music from the playlists instead of listening to our 80’s power ballad play lists! You can use headphones with the Jooki which means they can use it independently too, or as a speaker to share together. They’ve been using it in the car, at night in bed with a bedtime story, and there has been a lot of dancing around the lounge each day after school to their favourite tunes. With a battery life of up to 8 hours it means you don’t need to be constantly recharging it too!

I can see this being something we take with us when we travel, use in the garden during the Summer, and that gives us real longevity.
