Review: Fisher-Price Imaginext Jurassic World Toy Range

Ever since he was small, Harry has been dinosaur mad and now, at four years old, he can name every dinosaur out there, tell you about each Jurassic Park film word for word, and literally has not stopped asking when we will see the new Jurassic World movie! When Imaginext from Fisher-Price offered to send us some Jurassic World toys to review Harry couldn’t contain his excitement!!

I’ll be honest, we haven’t had any Imaginext toys for the children so far and so when the toys arrived I was just as excited as the children to discover why these toys were such a huge hit across the country. It was instantly apparent that Imaginext think of everything when it comes to a child’s imagination and, although great for those who love the Jurassic World movies, the toys are equally exciting for those who simply love to play with dinosaurs.

The Walking Indoraptor is pretty impressive – a large battery operated dinosaur that moves forward by itself in walking mode, or switches to chase mode after the ATV infront of it, and an Owen figure included for Jurassic role play.

You can even push another power pad to open its mouth, perfect Harry to stomp after the girls with threatening to eat them all up!  For Harry, as a huge fan of the films, it was so funny to see him re-enacting scenes with the Imaginext figures whilst also using his imagination to create different scenarios and outcomes.

The great thing about Imaginext is that each toy from the range can be used to compliment each other, meaning the more you add to your collection, the greater a child’s imagination can stretch. Harry especially loved the Dinosaur Hauler, a large vehicle that comes complete with a projectile launcher, net projectile, dinosaur and figure. Harry was so excited by the net projectile, which launches the net over the dinosaurs at the touch of a button.

I was really impressed with how many features the Dinosaur Hauler has and, although at £42.99 it is quite an expensive toy, seeing how excited Harry was to play with it, not just on that first day but every single day since, I can totally understand that this is a toy worth paying for. Also, for a child like Harry who doesn’t know the meaning of the words “be gentle”, each Imaginext toy is well made, super sturdy, and child-friendly. I think this is going to be a huge favourite of Harry’s for a long time to come.

Also within the range are 3 feature character assortments to collect, with each toy featuring a Power Pad to bring the Jurassic World figure sets to life. We received the fire shooting Dilophosaurus which Harry was over the moon! Priced at £18.99 I love that the Imaginext Jurassic World toy sets have a real range of prices to meet all budgets.

We also received an item from the basic character range – a Claire figure and the Gyrosphere, again something Harry recognised from the film and was so excited to have for himself! Clare can ride in the cockpit of the gyrosphere and roll along to escape the dinosaurs! Priced at £11.99 these are an affordable addition to the collection.

The Imaginext toy range is perfect for any child aged 3+ and it’s safe to say they have been a huge success with Harry. For me as a parent I love any toys which encourage my children to use their imaginations, and for a dino-mad Harry, they allow him to act out his favourite movies and create a whole world of adventure of his own.

  1. Oooohhhh my boys love the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies, and so do I to be honest. Kids toys are so expensive, but when they get played with so much, you don’t mind paying that bit extra, especially when they’re sturdy and will last.
