Out of all of my children, Eva reminds me the most of myself at the same age – shy, a little unsure, and always found with my head in a book or a pencil in my hand. Since the first time she picked up a crayon in her chubby little hand, she has loved to draw. And although I may be biased, I think that she has a real talent for it and it’s something I try hard to encourage. So when we were offered the SmART Sketcher Projector for review, I thought that it would be absolutely perfect for my budding artist.

What is the SmART Sketcher Projector?

The SmART Sketcher Projector is the most amazing device which does exactly what it says on the tin – it projects sketches onto a piece of paper for you to trace with a step by step guide to building up your chosen drawing. Not only does it come with over 50 pre-programmed sketches, including animals, numbers, letters and vehicles, but you can also take your own photos to project and draw. .

As with lots of toys these days, the SmART Sketcher Projector does with a free app which you can use to set up a profile, choose pictures which are of particular interest, and send photographs directly from your phone to the projector to draw. It’s such a clever idea!

How did we get on?

I think the real test of any device like this is how easy it is to use, and this was actually incredibly straight forward. The projector easily slots together and comes with a mains adapter or battery powered.

Once I had download the app and set up an account for Eva, she soon worked out which buttons to press to choose her drawing and before I even realised she was well away!

At six, Eva found it so easy to use and worked her way through one drawing after another, and was so proud of herself! She also loved that we could take a photo of her and transport it over to the Sketcher for her to draw! I suppose when you’re six, that’s pretty magical!

What did we think?

I think it’s safe to say that Eva absolutely loves the SmART Sketcher, she is really enjoying expanding on her drawing skills and taking photos of all of her favourite toys, animals, and people, to draw.

As a parent I love the SmART Sketcher, I think it is such an innovative and versatile toy taking a child from their very first sketches to freestyle designs. The Sketcher is aimed at ages from 5-105 which really made me smile, and I have to agree. I had a little play with it myself when the children were in school and it is so therapeutic!

I love that the SmART Sketches combines good old fashioned drawing with modern technology and, although this is a more expensive toy at £69.99, I think it is worth the money for the quality, the capablities, and the longevity as the children grow.
