Three under three
When I used to tell people that I had three children under three, they would look at me in complete shock. I would see them eyeing up the children, scratching their heads trying to work out how it is even possible, asking me, “Are you sure the girls aren’t twins?!”.
Because surely nobody in their right mind plans a 15 month age gap between baby three and four, and a 12 month age gap between baby four and five, do they? Or maybe they do? But I most certainly did not.
I never for one minute planned to have five children, and yet due to what is irrevocably known as The Epic Pill Fail, our bonus baby Harrison came along and we found ourselves with a newborn, a one year old, a two year old and a ten year old. And I wont lie to you, at times it was sheer hell.

Just think for a minute about a time when your baby screamed for twelve hours solid, when they went through sixteen nappies in one day, cried for constant attention, cuddles and refused to sleep. Think about the mountain of washing that one tiny little baby can miraculously produce, the state of your house, the baby sick down your top and the fact that you haven’t showered in days. Remember how utterly exhausting it was, how you would have given just about anything for one hours sleep, how just the sight of your snoring husband made you want to commit first degree murder.
And then times that by three.
Every day was a blur of dirty nappies, sleepless nights and screaming in stereo. It was physically and mentally exhausting and the biggest test that our marriage, our family and our sanity had ever endured.
That first year was a massive learning curve, trying to work out the logistics of three under three and find new ways to get out and about with a small army in tow.
Just leaving the house was a mission in itself. Dressing three babies, trying to cram all of the paraphernalia for the three of them into just one bag, juggling them all into the car (of which we had immediately had to upgrade to a seven seater!) and then inevitably having to go back in to change at least one dirty nappy!

The pram situation was one of our biggest dilemmas. Should we shell out the £1000+ on a super deluxe triple buggy? Invest in a buggy board? Or simply tell Eva that at just two years old, her time in the buggy was up and she would have to walk everywhere? In the end I used the double for the girls and a sling for Harry and I would trudge around the town with them all, laden down with babies, bags, the dog, shelling out a fortune to the chiropractor each week for my bad back.
On the weekends we would take two prams out with us, Gaz pushing one and me pushing the other, and we would walk in convoy, the lack of high-vis vests being the only thing that distinguished us from a Pre-School day out.

The shopping situation completely threw me. The first time that I took all three of them shopping I realised that there was no such thing as a triple trolley and that gave me just two options. A, two in the trolley and one running wild or B, three in the trolley with nowhere to put my shopping. After countless, hellish shopping trips which inevitably ended in tears (usually mine!), I actually went for option C, Order on-line and save a whole lot of stress!

But the hardest thing for me was probably the guilt and the worry that with four children and only one mummy, there simply wasn’t enough of me to go around. I felt a huge amount of guilt that Megan had been ousted from her position of baby at just 12 months old, and that at just two years old Eva was now big sister of two. I felt massively guilty that Megan and Harry had been born into a family where they would never have that one on one time with me for longer than five minutes, that even though they were so completely and utterly dependent on me, I wouldn’t be able to just sit and cuddle them for hours on end the same way that I had with Lewis and Eva. And I felt guilty that Lewis, who for eight years had been given all of our love and attention, suddenly had to share me with three much more dependent siblings.
In spite of all that, having a house full of children means that there is never a dull moment. Seeing their closeness, the way that they sit and play with their little blonde heads together, never fails to make me smile. When Eva tells me that Meggy is her best friend in the whole world, or Meggy says that she loves Harrison bigger than a dinosaur, those are the moments that make it all worth while. I love that they will grow up together, that they will never be lonely, that whether they are killing or kissing eachother, they will always have each other.
And now, at almost two, three and four, you would have thought that life had started to get that little bit easier. And temporarily, it did. We congratulated ourselves on finally cracking the bedtime routine, on getting some much needed sleep, on even, at times, re-discovering a social life that we had assumed was dead and buried. And then Harry stopped being the chilled out, complacent little boy that he had once been, and Eva discovered that being disobedient was way more fun than being the angelic one of the family, and Megan? Well Megan was just Megan, no change there!!
But between them, these three have launched a reign of terror on our household. They have learned to tag team us, run rings around us, learned our weaknesses, and our breaking point. So much so that last week, after a particularly bad day, when I lay down on the floor and cried (true story!), Eva stood over me, looked at Meggy and said, “Uh oh! You’ve pushed her over the edge!!” And they have, they truly have. I am completely and utterly exhausted, from the moment that they get up until the moment they go to bed, they are everywhere, into everything, climbing, shouting, screaming, fighting. It’s like a twelve hour cage brawl, a continuous battle for Top Dog, a never ending Ground Hog Day where I shout, I rant, I clean up the daily destruction and I wake the next day to do it all over again.
And then I look at them, at these three little faces, and I know that however difficult it is right now, however tired I am, there will come a time when they are all grown up, when they won’t need me in the same way, when my house is clean and quiet and empty. And I know that I will be sat there, in my spotless lounge, with no dirty handprints and no chocolate biscuit crumbs, and I will give just about anything to go back in time and have them small again.

And I also know, that in ten years time, when they are twelve, thirteen and fourteen, it’s going to be a hell of a lot worse!!!!
Three under three, would I recommend it? No, probably not. Would I change it? Never in a million years.

Ah man, this will be me in 2 months. 3 understand three – except smaller age gaps. Newborn, 10 months, an almost 2 and a half year old and a 6 year old. Fun and games, tears and tantrums. Send all the advice please lol.
Stock up on as much wine as possible!!!!
In all seriousness, you’ll be fine. The first year seemed like hell but actually, it was the easiest one yet! Newborns can’t move, one year olds still nap, two year olds aren’t that much bother if you throw them a biscuit and stick on Cbeebies. But 1, 2 and 3? 2, 3 and 4? When they are all mobile, surrounding you, tag teaming you left, right and centre?? Wine, seriously, wine…..!! xx
I don’t drink. Should I start? This year seems like hell and newborn hasn’t arrived haha.
Back to should I start drinking?? Lol
Haha in all honesty, I don’t drink either, one hangover with this lot put me off for life! Go with chocolate, it saves on the headache!! xx
Chocolate it is. I shall start stocking up so… ?
You’ll be fine…*she says while eating her second Wispa of the day…..*?
Wow, that is seriously impressive! I can’t believe how alike your girls look, they do look like twins. I bet life is an absolute wonderful whirlwind though (when they’re all behaving well haha). Your brood look gorgeous though and I love that your older boy can help you, A adores his older step brother (likes him more than he likes me I think). Thanks for linking to #MarvMondays. Kaye xo
Don’t they just?! Everyone assumes that they are twins, so I think it’s even more shocking when I say they aren’t and that we were just crazy enough to have three babies in two years!! Lewis is such a good help, even when they drive him crazy, I’m hoping he makes a good baby sitter in a few years time!! Thanks for hosting! xxx
I have 3 under 5. Right now they are 5 months, 2 and a half and just turned 4, and do you know what, I have lie down on the floor and cry days too. My husband came home to find me pretty much rocking in the corner one day a few weeks ago. It’s tough. The baby is actually the easiest, I think I would cope better if they were triplets and all the same age, oh or if the 4 year old would go to preschool. I would think for you 2, 3 and 4 is probably the hardest it’s gonna get, those are all really hard ages, but I’m told after age 4 it’s starts getting a lot easier. You are totally right though, I wouldn’t change it for the world. My 2 girls are so close and I can’t wait for my baby boy to be older and joining in with their games/Mummy harassment. You’re spot on so the logistics of it all, it took a while for us to work out how to do things now there’s three of them and still only 2 adults, and mine aren’t as close together as yours! I have so much respect for you lady, you must be exhausted. But look at your babies, they are so gorgeous! I can see why people think the girls are twins, they are very similar xx
I’m so glad that it’s not just me!! I always say that triplets would be easier, at least then they are all the same age, at the same stage, and for the first year or so at least none of them are able to run anywhere! I think once Eva starts school it will be easier (September!), then Megan will begin 15 hours at pre-school and Harry will do five hours a week across two mornings, and for the first time in a long time, I will have five hours a week of peace and quiet! Plenty of time to hoover up biscuit crumbs and polish my gloss kitchen units. Or maybe just sit around eating said biscuits…..!! Good luck surviving the next few months, September isn’t far off, we can do this!!!! xx
I had 2 under 2 and can’t imagine what it must be like with 3, let alone this age gap! I take my hat off to you, you must be exhausted!! They are incredibly gorgeous and I bet they know how to win you over X #MarvMonday
Hats off to you. I have 3 under 5 and have a fair idea. Its hard no doubt but you have a beautiful little gang!
And to you too! I always say that three isn’t necessarily the difficult part, for us it was definitely the closeness. Not only because it was difficult but also the repercussions of having three babies back to back meant that my health took a huge knock and I have been poorly for the last two years. That certainly didn’t help!! But on we go, because we know that in the end, it’s always worth it! Xx
Mother can barely handle me so goodness knows how she’d cope with three. You’re clearly doing an awesome job and how lovely that they will all be so close together as they get older and become friends as well as siblings x #bigpinklink
Haha maybe Mother should give it a go! It’s all good fun!! ?xx
Ha ha! I think she’d feel even older than she does now ? xx
Most definitely. These babies bring more grey hairs than I ever imagined!! ?xx
Thank goodness for bleach I say 😉 xx
Not gonna lie I feel panicky just reading your post. Trust me though, you have more than enough love and hugs to go round #MarvMondays
It is quite scary but to us it’s completely normal!! And you’re right, it’s just about finding the time to give them the individual attention that they need. Not always easy!! Xx
I am taking my hat off to you lovely! I had two under twos for a whole 4 days, and I honestly don’t think that I could physically manage with a third? Well I’m sure I would, because we just do don’t we? But I can categorically say that I would never manage to get out of the house! Your children are absolutely beautiful though and clearly a credit to you. It’s amazing that they will be able to grow up together and form such a close bond. Sending cake!
Thanks for linking up with #fartglitter x
Aww thank you. Theres only four days between Harry and Megans birthday too! Albeit one year apart! If someone had told me a few years ago I’d have three babies in two years I would have run a mile!! It’s been tough, it IS tough, but it’s so much fun too, never a dull moment in our house! Cake is much needed though, thank you! xxx
Oh I can totally relate. Mine are 6, 5, 3 and 1.. Which also means they were 5,4,2 and Newborn. And it is often hell! Chaos!!! I have become a somewhat ditsy mom.. But when I get those cuddles and sweet comments etc and I see what best friends they are. It’s all worth it! Thinking of you! #bigpinklink
Yes! I’m definitely a ditsy mum! For the first year I was half asleep most of the time, just bumbling around trying to keep them all alive, these days it isn’t as frantic but it’s a lot more work! I miss the days where the two youngest stayed where I left them!! Xx
Oh gosh – you deserve a medal! I love that you called Harrison your ‘bonus baby’ – I’ve never heard that phrase before but it’s lovely!
I have a 5yr old and a 1yr old so much more of a gap but I don’t think you can ever please other people – people tell me that the gap is too big and they won’t be as close (totally untrue so far – they love playing together), but then if you have a closer gap, people criticise that too! I think we just have to help children thrive in whatever family circumstances they are in #passthesauce
I’m having one of those ‘lay on the floor and cry’ days today, and had a major moment when I read the part of your post about how when your house is spotless and there’s no handprints, you will miss them so much… I cried a little, because it’s so true-I look at all the things I’d like to change in my house, and curse the constant mess, but I know my heart will break when they move out! Really, with those age gaps, I…just…can’t…imagine!! I have 14 months between mine, and Like you, I found it really hard at first, then it got better, right now it’s worse than the beginning!! I was so worried about having another baby in that first year, that I was constantly doing pregnancy tests and imagining symptoms!! Your life must be impossible most of the time, but they are just gorgeous! I’m sure you melt at the cuteness more than you tear your hair out!!
#bigpinklink
Aww bless you. I know those days far too well. I honestly don’t know how we have done it some days with the four of them, I think the number of children isn’t actually THAT bad, it’s more the ages of them that make it difficult. We are so grateful for them, given everything we went through to get them, and of course losing Joseph, so those things get us through the worst times, reminding myself how lucky we are stops me losing the plot entirely!!! I hope tomorrow is a better day for you. xx
Oh God I can relate. I have a twin boy and girl. They are 2 and a handful.
Ahh yes, two is a difficult age! My youngest is two next week and boy do we know it!! The terrible twos have well and truly kicked in! Good Luck!! xx
Oh my…Thank you x
Oh hell the super mummy that you are. I do not have kids yet and I am already crying from exhaustion on your behind but I am sure the love that you receive from the kids is more than worth it. Thanks for sharing
Haha yep, it’s exhausting alright! But absolutely worth it, we never thought we would be lucky enough to have even one more baby, let alone three! xx
goodness,, hats off! your post pretty much sums up exactly why I am one and done!! in moments of madness I contemplate a second…and then…nope. it sounds like for all the crappy times, you have a million more lovely times 🙂 #TwinklyTuesday
Haha you’re so sensible!! To be honest, I still think that having four isn’t the hard bit, it’s just the small age gaps that make life difficult. It won’t be this way forever though, and they are so lovely when they aren’t destroying the house and my sanity!! Thanks for reading! xx
Parenting is mentally and physically exhausting at any age and having three under threes I am sure is no easy feat. I hope they ease up on you and give you peace of mind. xx
Absolutely! Even having one is exhausting enough, having four has been a tough challenge that’s for sure! They have their bad days, but we do have good days. Today has been one of those, makes it all worthwhile doesn’t it? xx
I have two under three, ( 14 month age gap) and then a 13 year old and I struggled like mad with mine. I would have loved another but I think I don’t think I could have coped, I struggled so bad with three. I totally agree that I will miss them being little and even though it can be hard I would not change it for the world xx
It’s so hard isn’t it? When I had Eva and then Megan, to find out I was pregnant with Harry, who actually had the same due date as his sister just a year apart, I honestly wondered how we would survive. But we didn’t have a choice, along he came and he had to just slot right in. It was hard, it IS hard, but I completely agree, I wouldn’t change it for the world. xx
I completely and totally envy you. It is unlikely I will ever have a child of my own and to see what you have, despite the faces in the last photo which made me laugh loudly, I can see you would never change it x
Aww I’m so sorry to hear that. Although we were very lucky to have our first, after our second son died I was convinced that we would never be lucky enough to have another. So in that way, to have THREE, it’s just amazing!! Xx
Oh gosh it was so hard having 3 under 5, let alone 3 under 3! My brother actually had 3 under 3, 2 boys and then a girl, they did this by choice and were exhausted, still are even now that they are 12, 11 and 9 1/2. Your children are so beautiful, and no matter how hard it can be like you say you would never change it, it is a happy chaos! #mg
That’s so true, it’s a crazy kind of chaotic life but one filled with so much happiness too. We are SO lucky, I certainly don’t take that forgranted!!! xx
Hi Laura, I battled with two children under the age of three, if we’d have had three under the age of three I’m pretty certain we would never have left the house. And how on earth do you find the mental energy to blog? The major plus side is how close the children will be in terms of sibling love, yes they’ll fight now, but hopefully when they are all grown up they’ll be the best of mates.
Thinking about it, my husband is the youngest of three in three years, which may explain the craziness of his Mum, so be warned!
xx
I have no idea some days! I think in some ways blogging is my way of clawing back some sanity!! Although by the sounds of your mother in law….I should be worried!! xx
We have three under 5 (3,2 and 8 months) and for now while it’s hard the youngest isn’t mobile yet and is for now self contained often napping to the sound of screaming as her siblings tear strips off each other only to then play beautifully and then back to full wind up mode.
They do the same tag team thing as your children and I can recognise your description when the kids have that awful realisation that the sobbing mess in the corner is their fault!
Secret option C for shopping is the best!
#mg
#passthesauce
#bigpinklink
It’s hard work isn’t it? I expect you are very much like us though in that you are so completely grateful and happy to have healthy children that actually, you’ll take those sleepless nights and stressful days a thousand times over. Still hard though!!! Xx
I couldn’t imagine having 2 under 3 never mind 3. It will be interesting when they are all teens together ? X
Oh god yes! 13, 14 and 15?? I’m leaving home!!! ?xx
Such a gorgeous post, even with only 2 I can sort of relate to some of the mixed emotions/exhaustion us Mummies go through! I swear I would need superhuman powers to cope with any more though, you are amazing! Lucky for them they are just so scrummy right? 🙂 x #brandnewday
It’s hard work isn’t it? I’m pretty sure that they are as gorgeous as they are purely for the reason that it redeems them from their mischievous antics!!!! Xx
Clever little mites ?
Thanks for giving us a glimpse into your family life and how you manage with three under three.
Thank you for reading!! Xx
The photos of your three under three are so cute!! Beautiful little ones – however I’m glad I’ve only one three year old – I don’t know how you do it but you’re amazing! #thebestandworst
Haha I don’t know how either, every day people stop me and ask, “Are they all yours?” or, “Were they planned?” and the fact that they are all thinking, Thank god it’s not me!! Ha! xx
I have three but not that close together. I do however, liken them to velociraptors – One keeps eye contact, while the others take you out from behind!! xx #BloggersClubUK
Haha yep, they are most definitely velociraptors!! I feel like they attack me at all angles, I never know when they are going to strike!! They’re hard work aren’t they? Worth it, but WOW it’s hard!! xx
I take my hat off to you. I only have one and he’s a good boy (most of the time) and I’m wondering if I could handle another, as I very tired now trying to keep up. Amazing to hear about your life (how do you find the time to write?) and I’m sorry I did laugh at the “Uh oh, you’ve pushed her over the edge” comment, sorry, you actually have my full sympathy. Thank you for sharing #PuddingLove
Nadia – ScandiMummy x
I always think that two is a manageable number, one child for each hand. Three is tricky but four is bedlam!! We do love our crazy lifestyle though, and even on the days they push me over the edge, they are worth it, absolutely. Xxx
I have so much respect for you! It’s impressive. Your photos are always lovely, your blog is so well written. How on earth do you find the time to do this too? Beautiful children #mg
Thank you! I have no idea! Some nights it’s a toss up between blogging or bed and bed always wins!! Xx
Love it Laura!! (And your earlier comments about wine!) Full respect to you. I thought having 2 with less than a 2 year age gap was hard work but you are in a new league! I love all these photos! And the description of a pre-school outing had me cracking up. But you hit the nail on the head at the end. They run rings round you and they push you over the edge (brilliant Meg!) but you know that in years to come when the house is spotless and quiet you’ll miss it. For now keep pouring the wine! #BloggerClubUK xx
Thank you!! Some days are just crazy aren’t they? I know that my four are all quite strong characters and I sometimes think even one of them would send me over the edge, let alone all of them! They have so many redeeming qualities thankfully!! And actually I’m thinking if they all have as many kids as I did, I’ll have twenty grandchildren running around in years to come! Now where’s that wine….??! Xxx
Wow, you are amazing! Ditch the mummy guilt. You are an incredible mother. I am a single mum and Cygnet is my only child. I feel guilty that Cygnet won’t have any siblings, that I work full time, that when it is just the two of us I am not entertaining enough for him. I have decided to ditch the guilt. You should too. I cannot tell you how much respect I have for you with 3 under 3. Pen x x #fartglitter
Thank you. I was like you for a long time, a single mum to just the one, and then I met my husband and that’s when the other three came along! I guess we never know what the future holds!!! Xx
I literally do not know how you do it, but I guess everyone says that, and you just do, because you don’t have any choice! I am jealous though-I would love another child. Maybe not 3 under 3 though! Fab post and beautiful pics, as always. #puddinglove
Exactly! I think we just have to get on with it!! I’m sure one day you will have another, and maybe even three under three!! ?xx
Oh gosh, I struggle with one! I bet they have such fun together though, and it must be lovely to have a house full of play and laughter. (Most of the time, at least! 🙂 x
Haha yes, most of the time! They are all so close though and they have a fab big brother to keep them in check!! Xx
Calling back in from #abrandnewday! I really appreciate the link up! 🙂
Things like the trolley are just frustrating aren’t they? I have two 21 months apart, then a five year gap and then 15 months between babies 3 and 4 so I think you rock! Thanks for linking to #sharewithme
Oh wow you too!! I find that people can be so judgemental about it, whenever people stop to tell me I must be mad having three so young I make sure that I tell them that I have two older boys, then they really do think that I’m crazy!! I think small age gaps are lovely, albeit hard work, but then there are ten years between my oldest and youngest and that’s also really lovely too. Xx
Oh wow that is seriously impressive! I don’t think I could manage
I’m not sure I can! Thanks for reading! xx
Ahh, this post is so heart warming. I had NO idea of the logistical nightmare it is to have so many young’uns but I can see just from the photos that it’s all worth it – love the three of them in the trolley!! SO CUTE. You’re an absolute star, and your children will have such a special bond.
Ahh thank you! You see what I mean about the trolley situation? Where the hell am I supposed to put my shopping?! I did try once putting shopping in there and they just ate it faster than I could load it in!! Hehe! xx
Thank you for sharing this beautifully written and honest post! I do not even go shopping with one kid, I can’t imagine with three! Yep, three teenagers? Eeek! At least you won’t have to change nappies then. LOL. You’re a fab mommy because “….and I will give just about anything to go back in time and have them small again.” Loved that line. Thanks for sharing with #PassTheSauce
Thank you! Haha yep, no more nappies but probably cleaning up after them and dealing with heartache and fall outs!! It’s all good fun I’m sure, ten years to go and I’ll let you know!! xx
What a gorgeous tingly post. “Uh oh, you’ve pushed her over the edge” just brilliant ! I feel for you in that if you’d had triplets you could at least have monetised them and got some free stuff if not a sponsored car 🙂 Good luck with them all you seem to have a house full of love xJo
Haha she’s hilarious isn’t she!! And YES! I often say that triplets would have been easier in some ways as at least they would all be at the same stage and I would have had immobile children for longer! Once they can move it’s game over! xx
Wow I totally take my hat off to you, I think one 3 year old is stressful enough some days!!! Gorgeous children though and the girls really do look so alike, they are going to be so close as they grow up 🙂 #bestandworst
Ahh thank you, they are SO close its ridiculous, I often think they are in a world of their own! Luckily they let their big brother into their gang, when hes not too busy on his play station! xx
“You pushed her over the edge” lol that did make me laugh! Although it shouldn’t, because I can tell it’s true. Tears of a clown they call it, don’t they? You laugh and you cry, but you still carry on (and blog about it -wow!). I’m totally in awe of what you are doing, and how much humour you are doing it with. Two under two was bad enough for me! Respect! #StayClassy
God yes, that’s exactly it, tears of a clown! I reach that point of hysteria where I’m laughing and crying and wondering at what point did I reach such levels of insanity?! ? It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done but I wouldn’t change it, not one bit. Xx
Wow! Is all I can say. You are the definition of super mum! A super family Infact. I can’t begin to imagine how hard it’s been but of course equally rewarding! And they will all grow up to be best friends. Such a gorgeous family. High- five to you! #stayclassy
Thank you!! They are such fab friends, that’s all I wanted for them really with Lewis being so much older. I just never expected to have so many of them!! Some things are just meant to be! Xx
OMG, that sounds like such hard work. My closest gap is 2 years and that was close enough for me, although I suppose you get the nappy stage over in one fell swoop. My cousin had 4 boys in 4 years (none of them twins) – I don’t know how she did it
Yes! Three in nappies was hard work, and expensive!!! Four boys sounds interesting, although for me my boys are a walk in the park, girls are a whole new level of crazy!!! Xx
Loved reading about your super cute ‘3 under 3’ and their older brother too. Fab photos. Your household makes mine with a 5 year old and 1 year old twins seem much less crazy :-). #thebabyformula
Thank you! I imagine your household is very similar!! It’s all good fun though isn’t it? Most of the time!! Xx
Oh this is so gorgeous – I love it – just drawn in by your words and your photos – you will be envied by so many – all those beautiful gorgeous children – all yours – you should be so so proud – an amazing mummy that you are. I’m sorry but I did laugh at one line “Eva stood over me, looked at Meggy and said, “Uh oh! You’ve pushed her over the edge!!” but only because I’ve been there – how funny from Eva – could have been from a film! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful family story! #stayclassy
Haha Eva is hilarious, and they know full well what they drive me to! But yes, I am so proud of them all, four beautiful children when there was a time I feared I would never have even one more. We have been so lucky, even when it’s tough, we are completely and utterly blessed. Xx
Respect to you sista! I adore your photos – their expressions in the final one is brilliant. As a mum of twins having my hands full has been my only experience of motherhood, but to have two toddlers and a baby is a whole other ball game. #BloggerClubUK
Haha they are hilarious aren’t they? Wow twins must be hard work, everyone assumes my girls are twins and are shocked when I tell them otherwise! Respect right back at you! Xx
This is such a great post and I applaud you! Someone I used to work with has a 2 year old and twins that are a few months old! She wasn’t planning 3 under 3 either but sometimes shit happens! You are so right though – it’s lovely that they have that relationship there forever. You will adore watching them grow as siblings. Thanks for linking up with #TwinklyTuesday
Thank you! Two and twins sounds hard work!! I think there are ups and downs to every family, thankfully the ups definitely outweigh the downs, most of the time!!! Xx
This sounds hard, like really hard but so rewarding too. Looking at your photos, they look so sweet and innocent, although they obviously have their moments!
Thanks for linking up to #BloggerClubUK 🙂
Debbie
Haha yes, it’s all a trick. They look so angelic but WOW they can be mischievous!! Good fun though, most of the time!! Xx
It certainly sounds like there’s never a dull moment in your house but your children look adorable! It’s sounds like they all have their own personalities which must make a lovely big family! #stayclassy
Absolutely! Life is never dull with these four!! I love the moments we are all together, when I look around and realise that they are all mine and just how lucky we are. Xx
I can’t imagine the level of work that you have with these three beauties, I struggle somedays (most days) with 2, my son often finds me sat hidden on the stairs with my head in my hands! Like you say though, one day you will look round the house and be stunned by the silence and want it all back again. You are lucky to have such gorgeous children and they are lucky to have such a great Mum. Thanks for sharing with #PuddingLove
Thank you. I really am so lucky, especially given what we went through to get these babies, I think that thought carries me through the worst times. Xx
Let this be a warning to us all!! #passthesauce
Haha so true!!! Xx
All I can say is YOU ARE A LEGEND! Seriously, I think I would be cowering in a corner somewhere as a jibbering wreck. I have always wondered how mums do it with three under three – now I know! Thanks for sharing on #coolmumclub lovely x
Thank you! I have quite often been found in the corner, a jibbering wreck, but for the most part we just cracked on with it! Thanks for hosting! Xx
Laura, you are amazing! I love reading your posts because you are so honest, but also inspiring. There are some posts that are only the bad and ugly side of being a mother but it’s not all about that! I feel like you tell the truth – that it is hard – but make it sound wonderful at the same time. And that’s what being a Mother is, isn’t it? : ) I had to laugh at Eva telling your daughter Megan that she’s pushed you over the edge! I don’t blame you though, I think you need to have those moments in order to get back up and do it again. Thank you so much for sharing with #StayClassy!
Ahh thank you so much, that’s such a lovely thing to say. I try my hardest to be honest in my writing and I’m glad that it comes across that way too. Eva is hilarious isn’t she? Sometimes you have to laugh or you’d cry, and other days you have no choice but to cry!! It’s swings and roundabouts, you get up and you face another day and you believe every morning that today will be the day when nobody loses their shit, and usually that lasts until 10am max!! Hehe, thank you for reading. xx
This is beautiful and your babies are beautiful – I’ve told you this before. And I don’t know how you do it. You are a hero.
Ahh thank you so much, much appreciated. xxx
Woman – you are A M A Z I N G !! I don’t know how you do it, you must be exhausted. You are right tho – for them it must be wonderful to grow up in their little gang! They will share the same memories and have great childhoods. Sounds like Eva has a fabulous sense of humour – love her comment about tipping you over the edge! #stayclassy
Ahh thank you!! I don’t know how I do it either, and yes, I am knackered!! Eva has such a dry sense of humour, her comedy timing is spot on!! xx
Ahhh bless you I had two under two so I know a tiny glimpse into this but nothing on this scale bless you what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger right? I bet you get the girls being twins all the time they look SO ALIKE wow. I always wanted twins. I have think if I had a third I would really want twins as I think big family dynamics are the best and life is so much more than money, material things or careers it’s about quality of life and family and love and five kids brings so much of that to the table. I am one of eight so I love big families. You sound and look like you have it down girl When your middle daughter gets a little older the other two can go into a twin pram with a boogie board for her to ride on the back so you don’t have to take two out anymore just a thought 🙂 Thank you so much for linking up to Share With Me. I hope that you will continue to share with Charlotte over on Mummy Fever as she takes over Share With Me next week. #sharewithme
Yes! Every single day someone asks me if the girls are twins, I think at the rate Harry is growing it wont be long until they look like triplets!! I think that’s why it’s more shocking, people look at the girls who are SO alike and cant get their heads around the fact that there is a year between them! I am only one of two so a big family was actually very alien to me, and not at all what I had planned, but I love it! I love being surrounded by all of these little characters and watching them bond and grow together, it’s my favourite part of being a Mummy.
I will definitely be linking up with Charlotte from now on, thank you so much for hosting. xx
OMG…you’re ME….but a bit ahead!!! I’m so glad I stumbled across this post.
I have a 10.5 month gap between number 2 and number 3 – at the moment they are 4 months and 14 months old, and we have a just turned 3 year old – 3 babies in 3 years…first one planned, second one semi-planned…third one pill fail which was a BIG surprise to find out about with my 8 week old in my arms!!
I can relate to every bit of this – the trolley situation, the pram nightmare, the car seat chaos…all of it!! People keep telling me it gets easier as they get older and how close they’ll be, but I swear each day seems to be getting more and more chaotic – but even now, I can absolutely understand that you wouldnt change it because neither would I! xx
Haha thank god it’s not just me!!! Yep 12 months and 15 months gap and Harry was absolutely not part of our plans!! If someone had told me that I would have five children I would have told them they were insane, and three under three even more so! But you just deal with it don’t you? I do think that it gets harder, when Harry was newborn, Meggy one and Eva two it was much easier as at least Harry slept all day and couldn’t move anywhere! Now all three are literally just tag teaming me left, right and centre and they all have opinions and personalities and arguments to be had day and night!!! I’m thinking 4, 5 and 6 will be a breeze, all three in school. And by then my eldest will be 14 and I’ll be going through it all with him!! ? xx
I really don’t know how you do it, but completely understand that ‘you just do’! I seriously keep trying to remember to forward your posts to my friend who is expecting twins (so will have 3 under 2).
I know you always post such gorgeous photos, and it’s lovely that even after a hard day you can sit and write a post and see the happy photos, and remember those moments. You (and your posts) are inspiring, you really do an amazing job! Hope you get them back in a routine soon!! X
Haha yep, I think it’s a case of do or die! It’s SO hard, I wouldn’t ever deny that, but it’s equally rewarding. Every time I look at them all together I just think how utterly amazing it is that they will always have eachother. Plus I have Lewis to help keep them in check!! xxx
