My Cloud Home #ScreeningSunday
Last month I shared how we are taking part in Western Digital’s campaign to bring back the family album, centred around the introduction of their device – My Cloud Home.

My Cloud Home is an easy to use storage device that plugs directly into your WiFi router at home so you can easily save, organise and control all the family’s digital content in one central place and access it from anywhere. In short, it’s genius!

Available in sizes 2TB – 20TV, depending on how snap happy you are (in my case very!), My Cloud Home is about the same size as a book, in a really sleek design, that wouldn’t look out of place on a book shelf or on display in your home.

Now I’m not very technically minded so I always dread unboxing new devices and having to set them up. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the box contained just four items – the My Cloud Home device, a mains adaptor, an Ethernet cable and a European adapter plug.

And having read the brief, but concise, set up guide, it was simply a case of plugging in the My Cloud Home to the mains, connecting it to our WiFi router and switching it on. I then downloaded the My Cloud Home App from the AppStore, created an account and, using the special password included in the box, connected my phone to the device. Simple!

If you simply want to transfer photos from your phone to My Cloud Home, you can select the photos, press send and they send straight over, in chronological order, under categorised months and years, and it couldn’t be easier!

With USB access you can import photos from existing external storage devices, making sure that all of your photos are in one central place. You can also switch on automatic back up for those, like me, who lead very busy lives and have poor short term memories!
To download My Cloud Home on the desktop or laptop, you simply email yourself the link, open it up, download it and sign in! It couldn’t be easier, even for a technophobe like me!

As a huge fan of Instagram, I particularly love how you can link your Instagram account with My Cloud Home so that every photo is sent over, saved and available to share. With social media playing such a huge part in our lives, this is such a great feature and one that really sets My Cloud Home ahead of the game!

There is also an option to create folders for photos, movies, TV Shows, home videos and music, all from the My Cloud Home App. My favourite feature is creating The Family Folder where you can add all of those special moments to share with others. By emailing family and friends via the app, they receive a link to access and view the folder, creating a digital family album!

For me, this was amazing. There isn’t a day that goes by when I don’t send my parents at least one photo of the children I have taken that day, even though they only live around the corner! For them to be able to log on and see their grandchildren, whether they are at home or away on one of their many holidays, is just priceless!
And I think that’s the real beauty of My Cloud Home, that you can save your photos at home and access them anywhere. Even better, with a file search feature, you can find the exact photo you are looking for in just seconds, rather than aimlessly scrolling through one photo after another, trying to remember where it is and when it was taken!
Western Digital are calling all families to partake in Screening Sundays, where you sit down together as a family and view your special moments. I guess it’s very much like when I was a child and sat down with my parents to go through family albums as, although this is done digitally by streaming via your smart television, it still has that same traditional values at heart.
The children couldn’t wait to take part in our Screening Sunday, “Will there be popcorn?” asked Megan. And there was popcorn, and soft snuggly blankets, and lots of laughter from the children and sniffly tears from me, as we viewed baby photos, holiday snaps and photographs we had long forgotten.

My Cloud Home is exactly what we need as a busy family who love to take, and view, photographs. Not only has it been amazing to free up all that space on our devices, but it has been really lovely to know that all of our precious memories are right there, in one place, backed up, and available to view any time that we like.
I would recommend My Cloud Home to anyone seeking a storage device, and particularly to those who are wanting to bring back the family album. So who’s going to join me in our next Screening Sunday? Find out more over at My Cloud Home.Â
** I’m working in a paid relationship with My Cloud Home and BritMums on their Bring Back the Family Album campaign, encouraging families to share and experience their photos and video together. **

Now this is something that I would use. I would want it to automatically save so I don’t have to think about it
You can set automatic back updates, it thinks of everything! xx
Wow not only this looks great ! ( for any interiors obessed person) but its also something i would need i like the ease of use x
Yes! I love that it’s not a big ugly contraption, it’s so stylish! xxx
I love the photo of your 3 on the sofa – gorgeous. This sort of storage is such a great idea – much better than leaving photos lost in random files and it’s a lovely idea to sit down as a family and view them regularly. I know my kids love seeing pictures of themselves when the were little 🙂
Ahh thank you Sarah! xx
This would be an ideal device to have for backing up the family’s content. I like that you can access it anywhere and that it’s easy to set up.
Yes I love that too, it’s great for finding photos even on the go! xx
I can see us buying this and maybe it would help keep my pictures more organized. I’m not always good about regularly backing up pics and saving/storing properly.
I’m the same, I had over 35,000 photos on just one device! xx
It seems like the hook up is not that complicated so I am interested. This does seem like a system I need to learn and get set up with.
It’s great Melissa, it’s worth looking into! xx
Wow, this sounds pretty neat. I had heard about it but wasn’t sure what it was all about. Thanks for sharing the information.
Thank you for reading! xx
This is such a great product! I look back on my time when the kids were growing up and so many times missed great photographs. Or I would get them and then not get them developed. I love now that we can capture memories quickly and have products like my cloud to keep them safe!
Yes! I take way too many photos to not have somewhere to keep them all safe! xx
Now this sounds like something I need in my life, especially since it’s so user friendly and easy to hook up! LOL!
Totally agree Ricci, I recommend it to anyone! xx
I’m glad to hear this was so easy to set up. That is definitely an important thing! I don’t have a lot of time to dedicate to figuring out electronics and this sounds like a great one to have.
I’m the same, I love when things are actually simple! xx
Cloud storage is a must. It is so important to back up all the precious data!
Definitely, it would be awful to lose a single image of the children growing up! xx
My Cloud Home sounds like a wonderful solution for organizing all your digital files. Looks very easy to use for just about anyone.
Yes even my parents are going to buy one off the back of our review! xx
It does sound a bit technical or maybe it’s my age kicking in. It sounds like a great product once it has been set up.
It’s not at all honestly, if I can set it up anyone can! xx
Wow, I love how you can send photos from your phone directly to the device with the app and the ability to send Instagram shares too – that is just genius!!
Isn’t it just? I love how much easier it makes sorting and storing photos! xx
This is such a fantastic piece of kit! I love that it all goes through ordered chronologically etc. too it’s so much more efficient than boxes of photos everywhere
Yes me too, it makes life a lot easier! xx
I have tried so many storage devices over the years. I love this one and totally need to try it out!
It’s fab Heather! I recommend it! xx
This sounds great. I rely on WhatsApp gor sharing photos with my husband!
Yes us too, now I can just send everyone the link to our album! xx
That’s a really cool looking gadget! I’ve heard about it but seeing it in action really brings it to life. Must get the kids to take a look at it.
I really recommend it Azlin! xx
Oh this really does look fantastic. I would love one in our house. 😀
It’s fab Beth, I recommend it! xx
My biggest struggle with photos is storage and organization! I would love to tackle one of these with the cloud home!
Mine too! This just sorts it all for you! xx
That sounds like such an easy process. I have a hard drive and always need to transfer photos over as I’m constantly running out of space x
Yes! I love that this comes in 2-20TB so no chance of that! xx
Seems super easy to use. I have been looking into storage like this. The price point is good too!
I agree, its a great price for what it does! xx
This is so amazing, I love the idea that all photos are saved and shareable on Instagram.
Yes its exactly what we need, I recommend it! xx
This sounds so good! I’ve never heard of this product before. I know of other similar products but this looks really easy to set up!
So easy! I love that you can access it from your phone too! xx
This is fantastic! I have an external drive but it’s not great for the photos from our mobile devices. This sounds like the perfect solution. Hello Mother’s Day gift to myself!
Haha Heather, it’s a great gift! xx
This sounds amazing and exactly what I need. I used to be really good at backing up my photos, but life took over and I’ve now got years of photos all over the place. It bothers me that I can’t find photos from a particular occasion easily. x
Yes! And the longer you leave it the more overwhelming it becomes to sort! This just sorts it all for you off your phone! xx
I love that you can send photos from your phone directly over to cloud home and have it categorized via time and date too. It really does seem like storing beloved photos and memories couldn’t be any easier and I can imagine it has come in so handy in your household.
So handy Ana, you know how much I love to take photos! xx
Oh this would be great for us since we have so many photos! The Cloud Home seems perfect for storage, I wish this was around years ago when my son lost so many good memorable images in a fire. We could have had all his images backedup on cloud home.
Oh how awful to lose those images, I worry about it a lot! xx
We totally need a My cloud home in my house! I think I might buy one for myself for my birthday!
Oh you should Sara, they are fab! xx
Ahhhh I love Western Digital products. I have a few of their external hard drives and they work really well, and are very durable. Just be sure that when backing things up, you follow the 3-2-1 rule. 3 copies, on 2 separate devices (e.g., Cloud Home, computer hard drive, etc.), and one offsite (e.g., google drive, etc.) That way, even if stuff was stolen or your house was destroyed, you would have a copy offsite that you could access. 🙂
They are fab aren’t they? You can always guarantee good quality and innovative ideas! Great tips on backing up, thank you! xx
I’m a technophobe as well, but this device sounds like the set up is easy and is user-friendly. I would still have my husband set it up for me though 😉
Haha I would have had he been home, it’s so easy though! xx
I would love this, Its looks very user-friendly! I really like that it keeps your photos in order by time and date.
Me too Terri, its going to be life saver to us for photo storage! xx
My Cloud Home sounds amazing and I love that the whole family can put their photos there without hassle. It’s a great way to keep memories and to make sure they won’t disappear easily!
Yes! And photos are way too precious to take that risk! xx
This is awesome, I need to look into getting this one for my house! That way I can grab photos on any of my devices.
It’s fab Michael! We are really enjoying using it! xx
This would be perfect for me so I could access my photos on all my devices. I like that its made by a good company like Western Digital too.
Me too Michael, they are a great company! xx
Aww look at your kids all snuggled up with their popcorn. I must remember to make popcorn for our #ScreeningSunday events, definitely adds to the occasion. I’m finding My Cloud Home super easy to use and love curating photos and videos for the whole family to enjoy together x
It’s fab isn’t it? My kids just love any excuse for popcorn! xx
2TB is a good size. Being able to access photos when you’re away from home over the internet is a something I like.
Yes and it goes right up to 20TB too! xx
ooh I love that it orders the pics by date! Thats super useful, I just save to my desktop and it’s a mess! Plus its using loads of storage on my laptop. Will check these out x
Me too, nobody has enough hours in the day to sort that by themselves! xx
This is fantastic Laura, I always run out of space either on my computer or phone and to have a secure device that holds all my precious pics would be fantastic 🙂
Yes! I think its just what we’ve all been waiting for! xx
omg this is something i need especially with the amount of photos on my phone. i love how you can organise it just through the app. easy nd very convenient
Yes me too! I take a LOT of photos, hah! xx
This looks really good for my family having lost photos before from faulty usb sticks. It sounds quite easy to use to thankfully and I love that it’s also super organised!!!!
Ahh it’s awful when you lose photos, I love that this has everything safe in one place in your home but to access anywhere! xx
My husband would probably love something like this!
It’s fab Kelly! A really great device! xx
Oemgee! This is awesome to have. And yeah, we also send photos to the grandparents, so this would be an awesome storage to have at home! Will ask the hubby to look for one.
I really recommend it Sigrid! It’s FAB! xx
Wow, it seems such an easy to thing to do! Wish I had something like that at home, sometimes my and my husband struggle looking for miss photos and things like that, but all in one place would make it much easier!
Yes I spend hours searching for a photo on one of 7 devices we have, now I can find it in seconds! xx
I think I would like one of these! Looks cool and clever too!
It’s a really clever device and so convenient too! xx
That’s really cool! And I guess you woudn’t have to pay a monthly service fee like I do now for Dropbox. I had no idea something like this was even available! Very cool!
Yes! I used to pay iCloud for extended storage where as now I just send it over to my My Cloud Home! xx
Now this is definitely awesome and convinient! I love how one can backup all photos on My Cloud and access them just from anywhere. Technology advances is surely making life easier for us,right?
Yes! It’s amazing really how much we have availabe these days! xx
My Cloud Home sounds really amazing. I think I need this gadget in my life.
It’s such a fab device and perfect for families too! xx
I’ve not used My Cloud Home before but reading your post I think I should be. Its easy to use and a great back to store important family photos and share them as well. I need to get started.
It’s fab and I really do recommend it to anyone needing more storage! xx
I have read about this from a friend’s blog too. It’s just so amazing! Who wouldn’t want to have something like a cloud based album? It’s so awesome!
It’s fab isn’t it! We are really enjoying using it! xx
We have a cloud drive at the moment which we have managed to fill up but I really struggle to use it and Hubby always does the uploads. The my cloud drive is so easy to set up and use that it is my preferred one now
Yes it’s so easy isn’t it? I am useless at anything technical so it must be simple if I can manage it! xx
My hubby would love this for sure when he sees this product. That My cloud home sounds pretty interesting. I will have to check this out.
I really do recommend it Angela! xx
Oh my goodnes this is exactly what we need, I’ve been looking for somewhere to store photos for ages as my computer won’t take them any more.
Its amazing Nichola, I love having all of my phone storage back too! xx
We have photos all over the house so this would be great to store everything in one place where we won’t lose our precious memories. We’ve already lost quite a few baby ones.
Ahh that’s sad to lose photos, I worry about it a lot so this gives me some reassurance! xx
Oh wow, I hadn’t appreciated you could sync the My Cloud Home with Instagram. This is something I shall have to do! It’s such a marvellous piece of kit and love the pic of your kids enjoying #ScreeningSunday
Thanks John! We’ve really enjoyed our Screening Sundays! xx
The cloud storage does look pretty cool. I will have to check it out as I could use some place to store a lot of my memories and digital information. I do love the idea of screening Sundays. That’s such a fun family thing to do. I really should do something like this with my daughter when I have her. Make the time more personal.
Yes it’s a lovely way to spend some time together, even if just ten minutes, it’s better than storing away those photos never to be looked at! xx
What the amazing part of this product is, you know which cloud you are sending your photos (your Cloud Home) and not wondering which or where “cloud” is it stored.
You find it more secured coz its right in your home.
Exactly that!!! xx
I think I like the cloud even more because of how it transfers and arranges pictures, I hate when they just go al over the place in no particular order.
Yes me too! I love that they are organised chronologically! xx
That looks like something I would definitely use. We quite often look through old pics – I love it. The best ones are when someone is looking away or laughing which reminds you of the time when…..
I totally agree Lisa, photos are so precious! xx
This sounds an amazing product and I think I need to have this to back up my files most especially those beautiful photos and memories of our family.
I love the idea of Cloud storage. It makes life so much easier when your whole life is online :).
