You’ve Got A Friend In Me ** WIN **

From the moment my girls were born, fifteen months apart, they have been the very best of friends. Never knowing a life without each other, they spent the first four years of their lives side by side, hand in hand, and it was often hard to tell where one ended and the other began. So when Eva started school, a whole year before Megan, I should have foreseen that it would be incredibly difficult for the both of them. And it was.

I have shared countless times how tough it was during those first twelve months when Eva cried each morning and begged me not to leave her at the school door. It broke my heart to have her sob her heart out each bedtime, pleading with me to let her stay at home with Meggy and I, throwing her arms around my neck and shaking with fear when, inevitably, I had to leave her at school the next day. And whilst everyone showed such kindness and patience, I knew that our efforts to help her settle were in vain when all she really wanted, and all she ever needed, was her little sister by her side each day.

The following year when Megan started at school things were very different and, although it took several weeks to settle, with Meggy beside her, Eva found her confidence, regained that sparkle in her eye, and by the end of this school year she was a completely different little girl to the one we had come to know. Because whilst both of my girls have forged their own friendships, and are fortunate enough to have a lovely circle of friends in their own classes, they have always been, and no doubt always will be, each others very best friend. And you can’t argue with that.

We often joke that Megan and Eva are a little like Buzz and Woody – the very best of friends and yet very different as characters. Where as Eva is most definitely like Woody – a little shy and unsure, loving and loyal, level headed and patient – Megan is the exact opposite! Just like Buzz she is brave and bold, stubborn and irrational, and yet ultimately she is there to save the day whenever Eva needs her. And vice versa.

Just like Buzz and Woody their friendship may seem strange at times, and they can clash like you wouldn’t believe, but the bond that they share, and the love that they feel, is undoubtedly to infinity and beyond…..

In preparation for Toy Story 4 being released in June 2019, the girls have been enjoying playing with the Thinkway Buzz Lightyear and Woody twin pack we were sent, retailing at £59.99 from Smyths Toys. At 12″ tall they are the most lifelike on the market and at five and six, my girls truly believe that they are the real thing!

With Buzz’s voice and sound effects and Woody speaking some of his most loved phrases at the touch of his tummy, the toys are so lovable and my girls have enjoyed bringing them on our adventures this Summer.

But for now it’s time for my very own Buzz and Woody’s next adventure – Year 1 and 2 for my gorgeous girls. I can’t wait to see what this year has in store for them but I am sure, as long as they have a friend in each other, they will be absolutely fine.

Smyths are offering one lucky winner the chance to win a £50 Smyths voucher simply by entering via the link below. Giveaway closes at midnight on Sunday 9th September 2018. Good Luck!

  13. Mrs Potato Head – I am always making sure my husband is organised when he goes out and pack his lunch box etc! I also pack too much ‘just incase!’

  14. Definately Rex, I will strive my hardest to complete something but feel like my arms are too short to manage however with help from my friends I will accomplish anything

  16. My niece, who is toy story mad, always gets me to be Rex when we roleplay with her toys. I don’t know why.

  17. Pricklepants, I love quoting a bit of Shakespeare, he’s also a bit of a prophet of doom. My friends say that about me!

  19. Buzz Lightyear – because everyone should feel that life is an exciting challenge, one where positive mental thought can take you to infinity and beyond!

  20. Jessie – I feel like she’s got a bit of resentment in her – and she’s fiesty! Bit like me 😉

  22. Definitely woody because I can be relied upon and am always helping others out of the goodness of my own heart.
