Embracing a little H20omph with Highland Spring

Do you ever get the feeling that you’re stuck in a rut? That you wake up each morning, put on the same clothes, look at the same face in the mirror, and do the same monotonous tasks, every single day? I know I do, and it turns out I’m not the only one, with a recent study showing that 9/10 of us feel we are stuck in a rut, in our very own version of Groundhog Day.

I am very much a creature of habit, and I don’t particularly like change at all, yet some days that monotony really gets me down and I long for something different to happen outside of my daily routine. Far too often I sit at my desk and, although I love my job, find myself staring at the same computer screen day in, day out, wondering what happened to my spontaneity and zest for life. Because although, with four children, routine is very important in our family, there is a whole world out there of places I want to go, and things I want to do, and it’s about time I took steps to make that happen!

Highland Spring’s ‘H20omph’ campaign encourages the nation to celebrate life by venturing outside of their comfort zone. They are calling for people to shake up their routine, and add a little H20omph into their day. And I jumped at the chance to be a part of this campaign!

Although I joined the gym earlier this year in a bid to increase my fitness, with Summer approaching, and in desperate need of some Vitamin D, I really wanted to start exercising outdoors. I’ll be honest with you, exercising full stop is quite difficult for me. I am incredibly self-conscious and massively self-critical, and there are days when I’m panting for breath in the back of a fitness hall, my cheeks burning with embarrassment as I convince myself that all eyes are on me! So the thought of going outdoors, in public, was a huge deal for me and one I wasn’t sure I would have the confidence to attempt!

But, thanks to Highland Spring, I decided that it was time to add a little H20omph into my life and I pledged that, weather depending, I will get out on my bike and cycle three times a week, even if I only manage a couple of miles. And so, I did.

Luckily we have lots of country roads by our house where no cars are allowed, making it a really safe place to cycle or walk, and less chance of being spotted puffing and panting up any steep hills! As I set off on my bike, a little wobbly admittedly, I instantly remembered how much I love being outdoors, feeling the wind in my hair and the sun on my face, and that wonderful sense of freedom! I cycled for two miles that first night and five the following, and somehow, with a little persuasion, I found myself purchasing a bicycle helmet, donning a little lycra, and by the third attempt last week I hit the roads, in public, and I absolutely loved it!!

It’s funny how just one small change to your routine can boost your mood, how switching up your day, be that by trying something new, making a little time for yourself, braving a bold lipstick or a new haircut, can make such a huge difference in your life. And it’s interesting that since I injected a little H20omph into my life, it has made me want to switch up my routine in other areas of my life, to experiment wth a new outfit, new recipes, spontaneous days out, or take a little time out of the daily grind to see friends.

To help you embrace a little H20omph in your life, Highland Spring are giving away 10,000 opportunities to win H20omph experiences by picking up a promotional pack of water in store. You can find out more and enter the giveaway here. Good Luck!!

What a fantastic campaign to encourage everyone to be more active – I hadn’t heard about it but I will check it… it’s just what I need!

  2. May 20, 2018 / 4:32 pm

A great read! Thank you for sharing…I’m trying to build my lifestyle where I can travel and homeschool my children and my husband won’t ever have to work! I’ve taken steps to do that and I’m so happy at where it’s taken me!!

  3. May 20, 2018 / 5:54 pm

I definitely don’t drink enough water which might explain why i am always so hungry! I do drink Highland spring though so it’s a brand I know very well.

  4. May 20, 2018 / 6:19 pm

interesting post. I want to try this new challenges as like you, I face the same routine every day… can be tiring just to think of it.

  6. May 20, 2018 / 10:05 pm

I’m the opposite creature, don’t have routines, only my teen daughter is trying to make me more organised, but I know I would hate it. I love changes and if nothing is happening in my life for to long I reorganise the furniture. One day I clean the other I just abandon everything and go for a trip, but I absolutely love my life. That’s why I think the idea of Highland spring is just fantastic.

  19. May 21, 2018 / 2:03 pm

I’d love to get into cycling too. But don’t really want to cycle here in Cornwall where it’s mostly hills and small country lanes, prefer flatter areas 😉

  44. May 22, 2018 / 1:40 pm

Yes, I know this feeling of daily routine – and my life is just passing by without great adventures. But then times change and I’m back on track and couldn’t be happier with how things are going. It’s probably a normal process everyone is going through.

  45. May 22, 2018 / 3:20 pm

What a beautiful message. We do need to venture out of our comfort zone from time to time. Great that you have country roads where no cars are allowed. Wish we had that.

What a great way to promote healthy living with a campaign like this. Doing something, whether big or small, to change up your routine can really give your mood and body a boost it needs.

  47. May 22, 2018 / 5:55 pm

The perfect campaign just in the nick of time for summer. I never leave the house without a water bottle no matter the season since it’s so important to stay hydrated.

  48. May 22, 2018 / 8:53 pm

Sounds like a great way to get moving and my mummy is doing something similar with her work called ‘virgin pulse global challenge’ – she’s expected to do 10,000 steps a day for 100 days! eeeekkk. Good luck with the fitness challenge and we need to start drinking more water as we’re awful at that!

  49. May 23, 2018 / 3:49 am

This is a nice and healthy campaign for a generation that prefers carbonated and sugary drinks. I wanna join if we have it here.

  50. May 23, 2018 / 9:04 am

Oh wow well done you! I’m totally a cycle in the park kinda girl.. I never have the guts to cycle on the road lol. But love the idea of just doing something fun!

  51. May 23, 2018 / 9:52 am

The H20omph campaign is such a great idea and congratulations for getting out of your comfort zone! We can all become ruled by habits but the rewards that come with changing routines and trying something new can certainly help to boost our confidence and sense of well-being!

  52. May 23, 2018 / 5:08 pm

  53. May 23, 2018 / 8:26 pm

Oh it’s so nice to change up your normal routine, bike riding is so nice and being able to feel a lot more free

  54. May 23, 2018 / 8:45 pm

  55. May 24, 2018 / 12:23 am

I love Highland Spring Water. It’s nice and refreshing. I’ve always wanted to ride a back as well, but I have a curved spine and I just can’t keep my balance on one. It’s gutting 🙁
