What2buy4kids Toy Shop Review

Last month we were invited down to What2buy4kids, a toy shop in Southport, and of course we said YES!!

What2buy4kids was set up in 2010 after the founder, Lisa, struggled to find decent children’s birthday presents for her children’s friends. Just like most of us, she wanted to give presents that were both special and useful, rather than a toy that would be discarded or duplicated. This resulted in her setting up the what2buy4kids website and the business has gone from strength to strength, now with over 15 staff working with her.

Before our visit I had a look on the website and was really impressed with the huge selection of toys. The toys are split into two categories, boys and girls and then into sub sections of ages, from 1-12 years. This is great for those who struggle to know what children of a certain age are into these days!

When we arrived at the shop I realised why I hadn’t heard of it before, despite frequently visiting Southport. It is tucked away inside a shopping centre and yet the shop itself is quite large.

The children instantly scattered in three different directions, excited to take in all of the toys.

One thing about the toys at Whats2buy4kids is that they are all very traditional with many being wooden toys or sets to really get the children using their imagination.

I recognised a lot of big names such as Le Toy Van, WOW toys and Melissa & Doug, as well as lots of lovely toys that we have never seen before!

There was only one member of staff working that day but he was polite, friendly and helpful – everything you want from customer service!

I allowed the children to choose one toy each and it was no surprise that Megan chose the dinosaur tent, Eva a bath bomb gift set and Harry a tool set.

We loved our visit to What2buy4kids and will definitely be visiting again in the future as well as ordering on line.

I love toys that are actually toys that allow children to use their imagination and engage in physical play. So I would def be a patron of this shop if I lived in that area! The little tent is by far the cutest – reminds me of how much I enjoyed building little tents as a kid.

This surely looks like a shop where my son would spend hours and then I finally have to drag him out after paying a hefty bill:) Jokes apart, it surely seems interesting!

That tent looks like something my nieces and nephews would love! I wonder if our local toy shop sells a similar one because as far as I’m aware, we have no access to this shop here in the Philippines.
