One of the first things that people notice when they come into our kitchen is our Desenio prints above our dining table, and they always draw compliments. It’s safe to say we are big fans of Desenio and their collection of prints and frames, and for that reason they were our first port of call when it came to creating a gallery wall in our hall way.
For those who haven’t heard of Desenio, they are passionate about interiors and specifically Scandinavian design. Their business idea is simple, that stylish wall art should be affordable to everyone, and they make sure that it is. With an online presence in 33 countries you can find Scandinavia’s widest range of posters along with frames, hangers, picture ledges and clips.
Central to our house, our hall way connects our downstairs living areas, kitchen, bathroom and stairs, and is quite a dark area with no windows. Although it’s a lovely space, when it’s not home to the children’s school bags and coats they’ve flung off, the plain walls are a little dull and I really wanted to create something which was fun and colourful whilst still keeping in theme with our home.
I am a big fan of a gallery wall and yet always struggle to work out the sizes needed and how the pictures will look together, and yet using the Desenio Gallery Wall Creator made it so easy!
Basically you choose the main colour of your background from grey, white, blue or pink, and then a rough idea of the look of your room from a selection of pre-designed images. You can then choose the number of prints and sizes you’d like to include in your gallery and then simply start adding prints to your frames to build the perfect gallery! You can also see exactly how much you are spending as you go along which is perfect for those keeping to a strict budget.
We decided to go for a botanical theme with a few quirky prints thrown in and, with delivery in 3-7 working days, I was so excited when they arrived before the end of the week!
The hard part is always going to be hanging your frames and getting them perfectly spaced but thankfully, having done this before in the kitchen, my Dad and I managed to get all of the prints perfectly hung in record timing!
Our first choice was the Monstera Three poster, sized 100cm x 70cm and a stylish photo of three green cheese plant leaves against a white background. We chose wooden frames to match our hall way doors and staircase.
Our next choice was the Live More Worry Less poster, sized 70cm x 50cm which is a motto I think we could all take on board in our house and a message I want my children to see every single morning when they come down the stairs.
Next we went for two fun prints – the Giraffe print and the Pineapple in black and white, both sized 40cm by 30cm. These aren’t necessarily prints I would ever have chosen ordinarily and yet when I was designing the gallery wall I thought they really fitted in with the botanical colours and of course, the children love them!
To finish our gallery wall we chose the Banana Palm Leaves print in size 30cm x 21cm and I just love the look for the green against the black and white with the wood surround.
As always I am so impressed with Desenio and just how easy it was to design, order, and hang our prints and frames. Now our hallway feels much brighter and more cheerful and I am already making plans for our next gallery wall in our new lounge!
