It’s the age old problem when it comes to buying gifts – what to buy for your other half? With Valentines Day approaching many of us are trying to think of the perfect gift to buy and, if you’re anything like me, struggling massively!
The Hut has surveyed over 1000 people to get the latest on how both men and women are celebrating Valentines Day, how much they spend, the kind of gift they’d like to receive, and whether they even plan on buying one at all!
35% of 18-20 year olds marked their relationship as ‘it’s complicated’ and yet 57% of those would still spend up to £100 on a Valentines gift! Surprisingly 22% of men said they don’t need a gift where as only 14% of women said they didn’t expect one.
When asked how they’d like to spend Valentines Day the results were unsurprising with the majority opting for a romantic meal in. However a cosy night in was high at 20% and a night at the cinema at just 10%.
The Hut revealed that flowers are a winner over chocolates, closely followed by accessories and fashion items at 36%. Aftershaves and perfumes were a hit too! Personally I am with the 47% of people who said they would prefer to receive an experience over an item.
You can read more findings from the survey here where The Hut have also put together a gift guide to take some of the pressure off.
I think it’s it’s safe to say that if you are a man looking to buy for your other half, go with an experience, perfume, flowers, fashion items, or chocolates. If you’re a woman buying for the man in your life, don’t sweat it too much as the majority won’t bat an eye lid if you buy them a gift or not! I’ll be getting Gaz a card and hoping he falls into the 22% of men who don’t mind about a gift! Fingers crossed!
