Subtle Home Improvements That Make a Big Difference
When people think about improving their home, they usually focus on the big things, the grand decor changes that can really change the look and feel of the property. And of course, there’s little doubt that this is effective: it’s the more surefire way to improve a property. But obviously, it can be an expensive and time-consuming process. And it also may not be necessary. After all, there are many subtle improvements that can make a big difference to your home. We take a look at a few of these below.

Change the Lighting
All humans have an intuitive sense of how lighting affects the atmosphere of a room; it’s just that some people aren’t aware of it. Think of how different your experience of a room would be if it were bathed in soft sunlight, rather than having no light at all. This goes to show just how impactful lighting can be. You can take the same space and create two (or multiple) different experiences, just by changing the lighting. So if your home isn’t quite doing it for you, but you don’t know, look at making changes to the light. It can really freshen things up.
One Interesting Piece of Furniture
It’s the small details that can take a home from ‘good’ to ‘great.’ Some people think that you must have interesting features at every turn, but this isn’t the case. In fact, this approach can kind of be overkill. Sometimes less is more. If you’re looking to make a room a little bit better, then look at adding one interesting piece of furniture, something that’s different from all the rest. It’ll be a statement piece. Upcycled furniture is especially good for this task, since they’re generally older (and thus have character), and they’ve clearly been given “the human touch.”
Art on the Walls
In our opinion, not enough people make the most of art in the home. It’s a simple thing to add, yet it makes such a big difference. If you were to walk into your living room, then your eyes would automatically be drawn to the television, but if they went instead to the work of art on the wall? There’s a right and wrong way to hang art in the home. Make sure that it’s high-quality and unique, and think about the framing. Silver frames are recommended if it’s a digital work of art (as opposed to a painting). Adding art also adds colour to your home, which is another recommended tip for improving your property.
Flowers and Scents
You should try to ensure your home feeds all of your senses. We can get a little too hung up on how things feel, or trying to make things look too perfect. Your sense of smell should be activated, too. Look at adding incense, plug-in diffusers, flowers, and other scents to your property. They don’t just improve the aroma of your house, but they can also work to calm you down and relax your body and mind.
