The Sentimental Value of a Beautiful Luxury Cake
There are a range of ways to tell someone that you love them. For birthdays and other special celebration days, we write our loved ones sweet cards, we have parties for them, we buy them toys or jewellery (or both, of course). Now… buying someone a cake for their birthday is not a new thing. Parents often buy birthday cakes for our children who just seem to be born with a perfectly sweet tooth and an unwavering love for pretty things. I’m sure all parents on social media would have been reminded of these traits upon seeing Elegateau Cakes London’s gorgeous luxury Disney cake that went viral in March. It was a show-piece cake modelled after the character Te Fiti from the Moana film. It was treat that sent every Disney lover giddy with excitement. Kids included!
It got me thinking about how amazing it would be to have a bespoke cake so intricate and so detailed, made exclusively for you and modelled after something you and your kids love. Though it’s a bundle of joy for parents and children to bake together, every now and again you want to push the boat out with something unbelievable – and feel the joy of handing the messy cake making task to the professionals.

Why We Should Celebrate The Celebration Cake
The cake – be it for a birthday, wedding or graduation – is the eye-catching part of any special day (aside from the celebrant.) For one, it’s tasty. But even before people get to that stage, it’s seeing the cake that really draws people in. More importantly though, it’s the feeling your little loved one gets seeing a cake they know has been made entirely with them in mind. Our kids will have films and songs they love, characters they call their best friends and TV shows they wish they starred in. It’s always extra special to acknowledge their passions and interests by making it a part of their special day. This can be done in a range of ways. We can’t get a 17” Moana cake every year, can we? Children will be inspired and excited by any cake that further reinforces the knowledge that you’ve thought of them and that it’s their big day. I’ve teamed up with Elegateau Cakes London to explore some of the ways you can say ‘I Love You’ with a spongey birthday treat.
An Ode to the Kiddy Birthday Cake
Since we started big, (thanks Te Fiti), let’s go small. The timeless cupcake is easily one of the best ways to celebrate a little one’s birthday. They’re often cost efficient and typically come with less mess. Children love their cute size and the fact that they can eat several of them and they can come in a range of different flavours. You’re sure to see your little one cheekily running around with three or five cupcakes in their hands. They will also enjoy how personalised the cake feels. Yes child, that whole cupcake is yours! Everyone in the room with a cupcake feels special – and your little one will beam with happiness knowing that their friends are happy too. A big plus is that no one will be fussing over getting the smallest slice – parents included, we’ve all been there.

Cupcakes are also useful if you and your children want a range of ideas expressed. They allow our kids to explore a plethora of themes, colours and characters through cake art. Another popular and foolproof option is the personalised number cake. This is an adaptable cake style that is always able to be crafted to have a hint of your children’s personalities in every slice. Hands up if that means several unicorn and rainbow designs to some of your children too! It’s amazing how our kids can feel like they are the only person their age in the whole world. A birthday cake with an age on it reinforces that special feeling of a birthday. They are able to tell themselves: “Wow, this is special! I have grown and my parents are so proud!” If you want to give it an extra special touch, consider an arrangement of bouquet cupcakes, combining the visual appeal of flowers with the deliciousness of cupcakes, perfect for a unique birthday treat.
A Luxury Slice of Cake for the Parents
And what about us? What about the mums and dads whose birthdays often take a backseat in the year’s calendar? We can’t underestimate the joy our partners feel at having a beautiful luxury cake of their own for birthdays, wedding anniversaries- or even just because it’s Wednesday. Let us not forget that cake and other sweet treats are for grown ups too. It’s a thoughtful and tasty way to show love and to remind each other that calorie-counting is nowhere near as fun as counting slices of cake.

Cakes and treats are definitely for grown ups too! I always get a cake for my mum 🙂
Definitely! What would we do without cake?! xx
I love the idea of giving the gift of a gorgeous cake! But the two people who I’d really want to give a cake, my husband or my mum, aren’t really big cake fans! (I know, WHAT?) But luckily, my little ones and I are huge cake lovers so we get to eat them all ourselves. Also, my little girlie and I pretty much share a birthday so we tend to splurge on a really good cake! LOVE that Moana cake too!
We just celebrated my moms 59th bday and I felt so weird because we didn’t have a cake (b/c of her diet but still!!)
Oh no! Birthdays are definitely all about the cake for me! xx
