Why Liverpool should be on your travel bucket list

Here in the UK we have some amazing cities to visit. London, Cardiff and Edinburgh are all favourites when it comes to popular city destinations, but one of my favourites has got to be Liverpool. This fabulous city is rich in culture, history and makes for the perfect UK city break. With popular hotspots like The Albert Dock, Mathew Street; the home of the famous Cavern Club and its picturesque waterfront, are all reasons why so many of us visit Liverpool.

Whether you’re after a day of shopping or a weekend break, Liverpool has a lot to offer. With an array of shops, restaurants, attractions and places to stay, your options are endless when it comes to this famous city. Like many people, we love spending time in Liverpool and there’s stuff available for all the family. For anyone who has never been to Liverpool or is planning a trip there, I thought I’d put together a quick guide in case you’re stuck for things to do.

Shopping & Food

One of the many things that make Liverpool so popular is the array of shops on offer. Whether you’re after high street stores or designer brands, Liverpool has it covered. The hub of the shopping scene is Liverpool One; full to the brim with shops and restaurants, it’s the perfect place to grab a new outfit and a bite to eat. As well as the amazing shops and food on offer, there is also a mix of events held in Liverpool One throughout the year and suitable for all ages of the family. When it comes to grabbing a bite to eat, there are options for everyone. Whether you’re in the mood for pizza, Italian or Indian, your options are endless.

Things to do

Whether you’re visiting Liverpool with family or friends, there are lots of things to see and do. The World Museum is a favourite with the little ones, as well other museums and galleries located around the city. When you ask people what Liverpool is famous for, most people will say The Beatles. Located on Albert Dock is The Beatles Story; an experience rich in information about the famous band and the music they produced, so it’s worth a visit for any fans. Ferry across the Mersey is a well-known song by Gerry and the Pacemakers, not only in Liverpool but further afield as well. Reliving the song is a popular thing to do in Liverpool as you can hop on the Ferry and travel across the Mersey; allowing for great photo opportunities of the city’s skyline.

Places to stay

For anyone heading to Liverpool for an overnight stay, there are hotels to suit everyone’s needs, with high end and budget hotels available. If you’re looking or a bit of luxury or a romantic night away, The Titanic Hotel located on Stanley Docks makes for the perfect setting. Inspired by the famous ship, the hotel is also home to a luxury spa and restaurant. If it’s just a bed for the night you’re after, then the city has plenty of cheaper hotels on offer, all within walking distance of the city centre and nightlife.

If you’re looking for a day out or a city break then I’d strongly recommend you consider Liverpool. The city is popular with tourists from all over the world and it’s easy to understand why. With endless places to shop, eat and things to do, it’s a perfect place for the whole family.
