Bathroom Design: Little Changes that Make a Big Difference

One of the hardest rooms to decorate is the bathroom. Bathrooms are usually small, cramped, and devoid of natural light. Plus, they get humid and sticky with so many people running in and out that you’re limited on what décor you can put in there.

So, we let our bathrooms fill up with towels, accessories, old shampoo bottles, and more. Not only is this a stressful mess, but it’s also unsanitary. It’s a family-wide illness just waiting to happen!

But the real tragedy is a waste of space. Your bathroom doesn’t have to be a forgotten cave in your home. There are a few changes you can make to turn that damp and dreary bathroom into a cosy little escape right in your home (and these days, who doesn’t need an escape?).

I’ve put together a list of tips that can turn any bathroom into a spa-like haven. And, all of these changes are so simple that you can implement them today.

Let’s get to it!

Antimicrobial Towels

Replacing your towels with antimicrobial towels is a super-easy change that makes your bathroom cleaner AND more luxurious.

These towels are resistant to microbial life such as bacteria, viruses, mites, mould, fungus and other germs. This small change makes a huge difference in your bathroom because standard towels are so incredibly dirty. Yes, you heard that right. A study found that towels aren’t just the dirtiest objects in your bathroom. They’re the dirtiest things in your entire home!

They carry harmful bacteria like e.Coli that can cause serious illness as well as breakouts, allergies, and inflammation. Your towels can even carry and spread COVID-19.

Antimicrobial towels prevent all of this by killing germs on contact.

Our favourite antimicrobial towels are Soji Towels. These new towels combine natural antimicrobial silver with ultra-fine bamboo fibres. The result is an antimicrobial towel that feels like a plush spa towel from a resort.

Soji are guaranteed to kill 99.99% of germs on contact. Real silver is woven into every bamboo thread, so the germ-fighting power will never fade away or wash out. This is fantastic if you have kids and/or pets. You can scrub, clean, snuggle, picnic, and travel with Soji without having to worry about picking up germs. Soji self-cleans and stays sterile for life.

Even if you keep Soji all to yourself, you’ll love using it in your bathroom haven. Soji is so soft and fluffy that it feels like hugging a litter of puppies! Soji Towels are made with bamboo fibres and woven with a Japanese weaving technique that allows air to “fluff up” the towel. This creates the plush feel that makes Soji so luxurious.

Replacing your towels with Soji is a bit of a splurge. But if you use this link, you can get a set of Soji towels for your home for 50% off. That means you can get a new set of antimicrobial towels for about the same price as a set of normal (dirty) towels. I highly recommend them!

Candles, candles, candles

I know candles are a little stereotypical, but they really work. Candles are perfect for small, dim bathrooms. They transform a gloomy space into a cosy spa instantly.

It’s all about lighting. Your current bathroom lights are probably bright and impersonal. Alone, these lights are enough to put a damper on your mood in an enclosed space. When you pair this lighting with reflective white porcelain and tile flooring, your bathroom can feel like the embodiment of a headache.

Candles can tone down the lighting by introducing a warmer colour temperature. “Warm” lighting is known to reduce stress and make people feel a sense of calm. Lighting a few candles can completely change the atmosphere in your bathroom. And, it’s super easy to do.

As an added bonus, lighting some scented candles can make a family bathroom that undergoes heavy use smell a lot more pleasant!

Replace plastic accessories with wood

This one might take a little more time, but it’s easy and fun to do.

Take a look at your bathroom accessories. These include soap dispensers, toothbrush holders, towel racks, bath caddies and the like.

In most homes, these are all made of plastic. That makes sense, as plastic is easy and waterproof. But it doesn’t look very nice.

Take a quick look online and pick up some stained wooden accessories. They’re easy to find, and they’ll look much better in your bathroom. Adding some wooden elements will bring in natural tones and make your bathroom feel more comfortable and spa-like.

Just think about spas. They love to use natural décor made of stone, wood, and bamboo. Most spas don’t have windows, but they still feel natural and tranquil.

Wooden décor goes especially well in white bathrooms, as you can easily use it to create a farmhouse or Scandinavian look. Plus, replacing your plastic with reusable accessories will decrease your carbon footprint.

Add some greenery

Another way to make your bathroom a little more luxurious is to add some green colours. Green is the last colour that most want to put in their bathroom, but we’re not talking about painting the walls. Touches of natural green will add depth and positivity to white-washed spaces. Bathrooms with browns and greys will also be lifted with a little green.

One of the best ways to add green is with a potted plant. Live plants will add the green you need, and they can be very relaxing. However, if your bathroom doesn’t have windows, this might not be the best choice. In this case, you can add some art or accessories in green. Even a fake plant will do the trick.

Change Your Bathroom Forever, Today

The little changes on this list are so easy that you can likely do most of them right now. If you have some candles and a potted plant at home, you’re already half-way there!

As for the other changes, I’d highly recommend picking up some Soji Towels. This is the only suggestion on this list that will make your bathroom more luxurious while reducing your family’s exposure to harmful bacteria. Plus, Soji are immune to germs, so you can wash them much less often. Use this link to get your Soji Towels for 50% off today. This is a limited offer, so don’t wait!
