9 of the best ways to keep your little ones warm this Winter

With Winter fast approaching we have been seeking out this seasons best coats, jackets and gilets in order to keep the little ones warm outdoors. I am always surprised by how many gorgeous pieces there are for children which makes choosing just one Winter coat each a real dilemma!

This year I’ve gone slightly crazy and the children have several more than one new coat each, but with prices so reasonable it’s hard to refuse! Even better, using voucher codes it’s easy to get a real bargain and so I thought I would share nine of my favourites with you.

1. Mothercare red swing coat

This is one of my absolute favourites for Winter, I think there’s something about a red coat that reminds me of Little Red Riding hood and every child should feel like a fairy tale character at some time in their life. Available in ages 3 months to six years, I love that it is lined for extra warmth as well as being a vintage swing style making it super comfortable to wear. Priced at £28-£30 this coat is very affordable, even more so using Mothercare voucher codes.

2. Paw Patrol Padded Parka and Mittens

My children are obsessed with Paw Patrol, along with most of the country I’m sure, and I love that this coat would suit both boys and girls from ages 1-6 years. In a classic parka design it is designed to keep your little one warm as well as protected from the elements. Crafted from shower resistant fabric, a snug fleece lining and a padded finish for extra warmth, it really is a must have this Winter. Even better, the parka comes with matching PAW Patrol mittens to keep little hands warm and at £20 from George at Asda, it’s a real bargain.

3. Rocko Kids padded gilet

I’m a huge fan of gilets for the kids especially if, like mine, they insist on taking their coat off on the coldest of days! A gilet is always great to throw on over a warm jumper and as long as their bodies are warm it’s one less thing to worry about. Available in ages 3-10 years this is great for older children too and comes in a choice of two designs to suit both boys and girls. The gilet is currently on offer at Mountain Warehouse for just £12.99 and yet with a Mountain Warehouse voucher code it could be even less!

4. Jojo Maman Bebe duffle coat

I can’t resist a duffle coat, especially when it comes to my boys. We’ve had several for Harry over the years and there is something really quite irresistible about those little toggle buttons. Jojo Maman Bebe never fails to impress me with their gorgeous collections, and this year is no different. Although this is more expensive than some other brands, the quality is always exceptional. Available in ages 1-6 years, priced at £39 you can always use a Jojo Maman Bebe voucher code to bag a bargain.

5. Multicoloured technical jacket

The TU range at Sainbury’s always has some great items and this jacket is really lovely. Ranging from 3 to 14 years it is both warm and shower proof with a draw string waist for the perfect fit. I love that it has a reflective trim for the darker nights as well as being a really beautiful design. My girls said that it reminds them of Frozen which is only ever a good thing! Priced at £28 it’s a great coat for the Winter.

6. Girls Yellow Double Breasted Boucle Overcoat

I have to confess, I’m totally obsessed with this coat and if only it ran into adult sizes I’d snap it up in an instant. Ever since Dorothy Perkins brought out their kids clothing range I have been impressed by every single piece. Although this coat isn’t quite as practical as others, it doesn’t have a hood and nor is it waterproof, sometimes it’s okay to sacrifice a little practicality for a whole lot of stylishness! Keep your eyes peeled on Instagram for my girls wearing this coat over the coming months. Available in ages 5-12 years the coat is currently on offer at £36.

7. Boys red padded gilet

Another gorgeous addition to the Dorothy Perkins kids range, this gilet is such a lovely vivid shade of red, perfect for brightening up the darker days. In sizes 18 months to 6 years I love how padded this is whilst still being really light weight. Harry loves his and it’s a real bargain at £12.

8. Boys robot padded jacket

This is such a lovely padded jacket, again really lightweight but super warm. From the Dorothy Perkins kids range, we love the robot pattern with a bright orange fleece lining. In ages 18 months to 6 years its the perfect coat for throwing in the washing machine and is dry again in no time! Priced at £25.20.

9. Khaki green parka coat

I’m a huge fan of a parka and live in my own, very similar to this. Everyone knows I’m a huge fan of twinning so I was excited to see this coat from the Dorothy Perkins kids range. With a padded lining and a faux fur trim it’s such a lovely warm coat and Eva has refused to take it off since we got it. Available in ages 5-12 years I can see it being hugely popular this year and at £32.40 it’s well worth the money for the quality and comfort.

So that’s our selection of coats, jackets and gilets for the Winter. Watch this space for our pick of Winter boots!

I remember when my kids were little and we bought their winter coats for the season. It was always so cute to see all of the little ones waiting for the bus in their puffy warm coats and funny hats. My daughter would have chosen #1 because she loved anything she could twirl in. My son, on the other hand, was a vest guy through and through. x
