Ever since I was a young child I have dreamed of visiting Italy and last year, after 39 years of waiting, I finally got to make that dream come true. I’ll be honest with you, considering I’d waited my whole life to go there, my expectations were pretty high and I worried a lot about whether it would be all I had hoped it would be. So you can imagine my relief, and surprise, when it turned out that, actually, Italy was everything I had imagined it to be and so much more besides. And when we returned home after a week basking in the sunshine, exploring the Venetian landmarks, eating our body weight in gelato, and gorging on fresh pasta, I knew that we would be back again in no time at all, and that’s our plan for 2020.
This Summer we are planning an Italian road trip which, although still in the early planning stages, takes us from north to south, and crams in as much of this beautiful country as possible. Every time I think about it I feel all kinds of emotions (and also slightly panicked at the amount of planning I need to do!) and yet I know that when Summer comes around it’s going to be one to remember for always, and I could burst with excitement at the thought!

We had the best holiday in Sorrento last year, visiting Pompei, Mount Vesuvius and Capri, Italy is just so laidback and friendly.
We had a fantastic trip to Tuscany last year. We went to Lajatico and saw Andrea Bocelli in concert. Also went to his villa in Forte Dei Marmi for a gala dinner. Absolutely loved Florence.

I’ve never been lucky enough to get to Italy but my favourite thing to come out from there would be the amazing food, especially a proper classic pizza (not American style thick pizza!). Hopefully one day i’ll make it there for myself and see the amazing scenery!

What I don’t like in italy is the drivers, they are crazy! You definitely need to have strong nerves as they will insist on tailgating and flashing lights at you if you don’t get out of their way.
