Meet 44 Cats at Gulliver's World this Summer! -

This Summer 44 Cats have been making an appearance at Gulliver’s World in Warrington and our kids could not wait to meet their favourite characters Lampo, Pilou, Meatball. and Milady.

It’s safe to say 44 Cats has been a real favourite in our household for a while now and is a regular on our TV screens entertaining the kids with singing, dancing and catchy tunes! As a parent I adore the underlying messages of friendship and diversity and promoting kindness to others, qualities I’m sure each of us try hard to instil in our children from a young age.

Shown daily on POP (Sky 616, Virgin 736 or Freeview 206) each morning, as well as on digital Nick Jr, we have spent our Summer tuning in each day as part of our new lockdown routine and so when we heard Gulliver’s had reopened, and even better 44 Cats would be appearing, the kids could not have been any more excited about it!

On arriving at Gulliver’s World we instantly saw the main stage where meet and greet times were listed throughout the day to meet one of the 44 Cats. Obviously due to Covid the meet and greets run very differently from other years so whilst you can still have a photograph with the 44 Cats, hugs and high fives are sadly out of the question. A hula hoop is placed on the floor in front of the stage for each child to stand in and the characters stand behind on the stage itself. Our children were excited to see their favourite characters in “real life” and didn’t seem to even notice that it was any different from our usual character meets.

Social distancing is obviously more important than ever when visiting a theme park such as Gulliver’s World and in keeping with government regulations, there are several precautions in place. On arrival all guests are temperature checked which is reassuring, as well as contactless entry via pre-booked tickets purchased on line. We also noticed that all staff wore masks at the entrance and again throughout the park.

We did find that many of the rides at Gulliver’s World did not have conventional queuing systems and relied on guests social distancing in keeping with the 2 metre rule. I have to be honest that not all of the guests were following these guidelines but as a family we were extremely careful about keeping our distance and were able to do this on each ride.

Face coverings must be worn on every attraction by every rider over three unless they are exempt, although masks did not need to be worn whilst queuing. We found that whilst the majority of guests wore masks not everyone did, although members of staff did try to enforce this as much as possible.

In-between rides we saw staff spraying the hand rails with disinfectant and at various points throughout the day the rides would close for a deep clean which again was reassuring and, despite being very busy at the park, queue times passed quite quickly. Our longest queue was for the Antelopes Wooden Coaster which the children thought was well worth it, Harry declared it his best ride ever!

In between rides you can get something to eat with pre-booked meals for contactless dining and outdoor tables available for those really wanting to keep their distance. The children had turkey dinosaurs and fries with Gaz and I having chicken burgers and chips and it was brought out at our chosen time slot which was perfect for planning lunch in-between rides.

I think it goes without saying that the children had a fantastic day at Gulliver’s World and meeting the 44 Cats was a real highlight. They’ve mentioned it every single time we’ve watched an episode since and it’s so lovely, and also testament to the costumes, how they genuinely believed they were the real deal.
