What a girl really wants for Valentines Day – the Dyson V7 Trigger

When Gaz and I first got together, just seven years ago, my Valentines Day was very much about chocolate, flowers, a lavish meal out followed by a cosy meal in. Fast forward seven years and neither of us remembered to buy so much as a card, there wasn’t a flower in sight and although we did go wild with steak and chips, it’s hard to enjoy a meal when you have four children clambering all over you or shouting you to wipe their bottom!

So it’s fair to say my Valentines Day didn’t go too well…..until my special Valentines Gift was delivered that is.

Paired with my blogging BFF, the lovely Laura at Dear Bear & Beany, I was so excited to take part in the AO Valentines Gift Challenge and send each other something wonderful as an appreciation of our friendship. For those of you who don’t know Laura, she is just the best, and I genuinely don’t know how I would survive without her. And so in that way, I wanted to send her something special.

It’s a sure sign of getting old when you know that the only thing a girl really wants for Valentines Day is a new vacuum cleaner and I knew that Laura would love the  AEG Power Cordless Vacuum Cleaner. As a Mum of two young girls I thought it would come in useful for her whizzing around doing the housework, and thankfully I chose right! You can read how much she loves it here.

The best thing about mine and Laura’s friendship is that we are totally on the same wavelength and so when my gift showed up, the Dyson V7 Trigger Handheld Vacuum Cleaner, I should have guessed that we would have chosen similar!

I’ve had my eye on the Dyson V7 Trigger for a long time now, lusting after the ultra-powerful, portable, hand held vacuum cleaner. With a maximum charge time of 3.5 hours, and a run time of 30 minutes, it gives plenty of time to get cleaning.

The Dyson V7 Trigger has a 0.54 litre dust capacity and weighing 1.7kg it’s far easier to manoeuvre than most full sized vacuum cleaners.

With being cordless, hand held and portable, it’s great for vacuuming the stairs. Given that I once ended up in A&E having my head glued back together after a vacuuming incident on my stairs, the Dyson Handheld is a foolproof, and safer, way for someone as clumsy as me!!

With a handy crevice tool it’s perfect for cleaning narrow gaps and tight corners as well as being super handy for cleaning the car. I used to dread vacuuming the car but now I can just whip this out and clean up any crumbs or muddy footprints!

It also comes with an upholstery tool that is specially designed to keep your furniture spotless. Despite me telling them other wise, the children insist on eating on the couch and, every time I have to lug out the main vacuum cleaner from under the stairs, I silently rage about it. With the Dyson Handheld I can literally pick it up and put it down ten times a day if necessary – which often it is!

For small cleaning jobs around the home I really can’t recommend the Dyson D7 Trigger enough. It’s portable, easy to use, extremely powerful and so convenient!

I have to tell you, given the choice of romance and flowers or a Dyson D7 Trigger, the Dyson wins every time!!

Dyson seem to do some absolutely amazing products, I love how easy to move this is, the fact you can use it in the home and car and where ever else is awesome!

      February 18, 2018 / 12:28 pm

They really do! I love this, it’s just so handy – especially with kids!! xx

  2. February 18, 2018 / 12:30 pm

We also just got a new wireless vacuum cleaner. You can take off the upper part and use it as a hendheld cleaner just like your Dyson. It is really practical.

    • Laura Dove
      February 18, 2018 / 1:51 pm

Isn’t it so much easier when it’s wireless? I never thought I’d get this excited over a vacuum cleaner, clearly I’m getting old! xx

  3. February 18, 2018 / 12:55 pm

Such a great reviews! Not sure if my girlfriend would want the same gift, but ill definitely now consider this! 😀

  4. February 18, 2018 / 12:55 pm

    • Laura Dove
      February 18, 2018 / 1:49 pm

Haha yes! I foolishly had the vacuum cleaner at the top and was using the nozzle to clean the stairs. One minute I was vacuuming, the next the vacuum cleaner had fallen and knocked me out! I ended up having to have my head glued to stop the bleeding! xx

    • Laura Dove
      February 18, 2018 / 1:48 pm

It’s fab Emma! I love how easy it is to just get out in a hurry too! xx

  7. February 18, 2018 / 1:52 pm

Oh Heavens this would have been my perfect valentines gift too! I love Dyson and have also lusted after one of these handheld ones for ages. So practical to follow the kids around with and hoover up all of their crumbs!! Kate x

    • Laura Dove
      February 18, 2018 / 4:49 pm

Yes! I’ve got a little obsessive with it, you know how you get carried away with a new gadget? Crisps on the couch? Fear not, I’m right there with my Dyson ready to suction them up before the crumbs hit the cushions! haha! xx

  8. February 18, 2018 / 2:55 pm

Ahh! Dyson’s are just the best. This looks like a fantastic vacuum. I could imagine getting a lot of use out of this for those little jobs. With it being wireless it is just so handy x

    • Laura Dove
      February 18, 2018 / 4:48 pm

Definitely Kim, sometimes you just don’t want to have to lug out the main vacuum cleaner for a small job, I love how easy this is! xx

  9. Candy
    February 18, 2018 / 2:59 pm

    • Laura Dove
      February 18, 2018 / 4:47 pm

Us too Candy, I’m a huge fan of the Dyson range! xx

  10. February 18, 2018 / 3:03 pm

Oh wow, this looks like an amazing and light vacuum to use, love its flexibility and size. Perfect to clean the car with especially since kids love to make a mess in the car.

    • Laura Dove
      February 18, 2018 / 4:46 pm

Yes! When we got our new car last year I said no food allowed, but slowly it has crept in! Now at least I can vacuum it up! xx

  11. February 18, 2018 / 3:07 pm

I’m actually in the market for a new hoover, as I’ve recently moved into a new house, and my old hoover just isn’t practical now I’m in a house with stairs lol. This one looks ideal, so I might have to go check it out 🙂 x

    • Laura Dove
      February 18, 2018 / 4:46 pm

It’s fab Becca and SO handy! They do a full sized cordless too which I also have my eye on, cordless is definitely the way to go! xx

  12. February 18, 2018 / 4:27 pm

I LOVE MY DYSON!!! All caps because I am shouting! I have the full size cordless and love it. We moved into a 4 story house with ALL CARPETS! I hate carpets but they are manageable now with my dyson! #kcacols

    • Laura Dove
      February 18, 2018 / 4:45 pm

Ooh I am so jealous, that is next on my list for sure!! xx

  13. February 18, 2018 / 7:29 pm

      February 19, 2018 / 1:46 pm

      Thank you Pati! xx

  14. February 18, 2018 / 8:25 pm

    • Laura Dove
      February 19, 2018 / 1:34 pm

Oh mine too! Are we getting old or what? xx

  15. February 18, 2018 / 9:24 pm

I would never be able to go back to a normal vacuum cleaner after getting my Dyson handheld, they make it so much easier to do everything. I got it initially when I was pregnant with PGP and I could lift or bend easily so a normal vacuum cleaner was near unusable. Everyone should get one.

    • Laura Dove
      February 19, 2018 / 1:34 pm

Ooh that’s a great idea when you’re pregnant! I totally see why people rave about them, its fab! xx

  16. February 18, 2018 / 9:26 pm

This is a very useful post! Thank you! My partner and I have switched to a Neato Botvac but we still keep a handheld for odd tasks and spills. I’ve mixed feelings over the Dyson because of the owner’s political position but struggle to deny the quality of their products and this review is a timely reminder.

    • Laura Dove
      February 19, 2018 / 1:34 pm

Ahh I am unaware of the political stance with Dyson, but you’re right, you can’t fault the quality and the performance of their products! xx

  17. February 18, 2018 / 9:27 pm

Not quite the Dyson I want, I’d love the hairdryer, but this sounds amazing x

    • Laura Dove
      February 19, 2018 / 1:33 pm

The hairdryer is next on my wish list! xx

  18. February 18, 2018 / 9:37 pm

We got a Dyson as a wedding gift and , I am almost embarrassed to say , but it was one of the most thoughtful gifts ever. Five years that baby has been sucking up all sorts of crap and still it sucks up more . I’m a Dyson forever kinda gal !

    • Laura Dove
      February 19, 2018 / 1:33 pm

Don’t be embarrassed! A Dyson is a great gift! I do love a Dyson! xx

  19. February 18, 2018 / 10:26 pm

I’m really pleased you love it and we’re definitely not the same wave length. There is no one else that deserves a special gift more than you. Having a cordless vacuum cleaner is a game changer and I’m really pleased it is making a difference to your life. I love how great it is for cleaning the car too. xx p.s I love your red nails!

    • Laura Dove
      February 19, 2018 / 1:32 pm

Ahh I love it thank you! Cordless vacuums are the future that’s for sure! Hahaha that made me laugh, and that’s why I love you! xx

  20. February 18, 2018 / 10:41 pm

Not gonna lie, this does excite me! Looks so handy & i always trust Dyson x

    • Laura Dove
      February 19, 2018 / 1:31 pm

hahah I know right? Best present ever! xx

  21. February 18, 2018 / 10:43 pm

Wow, finally I see that other women would like something other than the superficial during Valentine’s. I much rather have a gift that is useful than a box of chocolates (that I don’t eat) and Roses. Great article.

    • Laura Dove
      February 19, 2018 / 1:25 pm

Me too Holly! Thank you! xx

  22. Simone
    February 19, 2018 / 12:00 am

I love my cordless Dyson, the only problem is that my 4 year old son also loves it, so I can’t use it without him wanting to vacuum the whole living room. It’s such a chore to sit down with a cup of tea and watch him doing the housework 😉

    • Laura Dove
      February 19, 2018 / 1:23 pm

Haha yes!! My children are obsessed with this, I’m sure the novelty will wear off – sadly! xx

  23. February 19, 2018 / 4:42 am

This little vacuum is so cute. I would actually love to get this as a gift for Valentine’s Day or any day

    • Laura Dove
      February 20, 2018 / 6:54 pm

Its amazing Dee, maybe for Christmas? hehe! xx

  24. February 19, 2018 / 4:42 am

This little vacuum is so cute. I would actually love to get this as a gift for Valentine’s Day or any day

    • Laura Dove
      February 19, 2018 / 1:22 pm

Its great Dee, I recommend it! xx

  25. February 19, 2018 / 7:01 am

Haha so funny you bought similar things. We have a cordless dyson and love it

    • Laura Dove
      February 19, 2018 / 1:22 pm

I think when you’ve got kids you just know a vacuum is a must! xx

  26. February 19, 2018 / 7:45 am

I have heard so many great things about Dyson! I really need cordless Dyson like this one in my life. It would make cleaning so much easier.

    • Laura Dove
      February 19, 2018 / 1:21 pm

Yes I agree, I think cordless is the way forward! xx

  27. February 19, 2018 / 8:04 am

What a super gift to receive! I’d love a new vacuum, and this one looks like it does just the trick!

    • Laura Dove
      February 19, 2018 / 1:21 pm

It’s perfect for quick vacuuming jobs, and for the car too – amazing! xx

      • February 20, 2018 / 8:19 am

The car! Genius idea! Our kids have trashed the back seats with their crisp crumbs (maybe I shouldn’t let them eat crisps in the car….) 😉

  28. February 19, 2018 / 8:11 am

I haven’t tried a Dyson product before but I keep hearing on how good their are, especially the cordless vacuums. It’s great that this one can easily clean so many different surfaces.

    • Laura Dove
      February 19, 2018 / 1:21 pm

I didn’t have a Dyson for years and wondered what all the fuss was about, then I got one and realised what I’d been missing! It’s fab! xx

  29. February 19, 2018 / 8:13 am

I would be a very happy woman if I had this for Valentines day. It looks fantastic! I find the vacuum heavy to use on the stairs so this would be a dream

    • Laura Dove
      February 19, 2018 / 1:20 pm

Yes me too, especially with my bad back, this has really been a godsend! xx

  30. February 19, 2018 / 10:30 am

I have two dysons and would not be without either of them. I have the V7 absolute which is perfect for small jobs and a bigger corded cleaner too

    • Laura Dove
      February 19, 2018 / 1:20 pm

We also have a Dyson Ball which I love, but sometimes with kids especially, you only need it for a few seconds to vacuum up some crumbs! It’s great isn’t it? xx

  31. February 19, 2018 / 11:04 am

I use a Dyson cordless as well and it’s so good! I am never going back to a corded cleaner, it was so awkward to do the stairs and the landing and I kept having to plug it in different places. 30 minutes battery is plenty of time for me to whiz around the house.

    • Laura Dove
      February 19, 2018 / 1:19 pm

Yes! I think if you’re hoovering for over 30 minutes a day you need to be having a word with yourself! haha! xx

  32. Komal
    February 19, 2018 / 12:35 pm

I actually really want this. We were looking into a rhumba but this seems wayyyy more efficient.

    • Laura Dove
      February 19, 2018 / 1:18 pm

It’s great Komal, and I think with Dyson you always know it’s a brand you can trust! xx

  33. February 19, 2018 / 1:05 pm

We have a similar handheld Dyson which we bought for our stairs as I found our other one too bulky and heavy for that, and both me and my husband love it! Even Max loves using it (and I very much encourage that!) What a great choice.

    • Laura Dove
      February 19, 2018 / 1:18 pm

Haha yes! My children actually thought it was a mini hoover for them to use! I didn’t correct them! Crack on! xx

  34. February 19, 2018 / 1:21 pm

It is so funny how things change over the years isn’t it? I think I would have been equally as excited to have received that.

    • Laura Dove
      February 19, 2018 / 1:47 pm

Haha yes! I would have gone crazy a few years ago if my husband had bought me a household appliance! Now I dream of them! xx

  35. Erin Kay
    February 19, 2018 / 1:47 pm

Oh yes! You know the way to my heart. I’d love a Dyson! I’ll make sure my husband “accidentally” sees your blog!

    • Laura Dove
      February 20, 2018 / 7:15 pm

Haha yes!! Christmas isn’t that far off….right?! xx

  36. February 19, 2018 / 1:49 pm

Oh my goodness, yes, I would love that too! I’m actually on the look out for one since my vac is about to conk out. And this I would love to have, now if only I could afford a Dyson!

    • Laura Dove
      February 20, 2018 / 6:55 pm

Oh it’s fab, and I know they are pricey but they are also long lasting and unbeatable on quality! xx

  37. February 19, 2018 / 2:07 pm

I love Dyson products. They make things that last. I just wish it was a little less expensive! But it’s quality.

    • Laura Dove
      February 20, 2018 / 7:17 pm

Yes I agree, but I do believe you get what you pay for! xx

  38. February 19, 2018 / 2:13 pm

That’s so true! I was always a bit of a sceptic when it came to how good Dyson vacuum cleaners could really be….turns out they’re life changing! I bought one for my husband for Christmas (he asked for it) and I now use it everyday, so convenient 🙂

    • Laura Dove
      February 20, 2018 / 6:55 pm

Yes! I genuinely feel as though this has revolutionised our lives! haha! xx

  39. February 19, 2018 / 3:04 pm

We have a handheld vacuum and don’t know how we’d survive without it! It’s so handy and great for your back! You really do get what you pay for!

    • Laura Dove
      February 20, 2018 / 6:56 pm

Absolutely, I think it’s worth paying for quality that will last you! x

  40. February 19, 2018 / 4:04 pm

Everyone keeps going on about the Dyson hoovees. I need to check them out. We have the Henry hoover and it is sooo heavy, it makes me tired just carrying it around.

    • Laura Dove
      February 20, 2018 / 6:56 pm

Ahh I love the Henry hoover but I know what you mean. They are quite industrial in weight!! xx

  41. February 19, 2018 / 4:37 pm

Honestly, I would be happy if this appeared on my doorstep! Such a loser, but I have heard such good things about it! xx

    • Laura Dove
      February 20, 2018 / 6:57 pm

Oh I know! It’s a sign of getting old but who doesnt love a decent vacuum! xx

  42. February 19, 2018 / 6:24 pm

I love my Dyson. Sadly i have one that’s slightly older than this model but they just seem to last for AGES I find!

    • Laura Dove
      February 20, 2018 / 6:58 pm

I agree! The customer service is great too, we had our old one repaired under warranty and when they couldn’t mend it they just sent a new one. You can’t fault that! xx

  43. February 19, 2018 / 6:53 pm

Haha how romantic! Very useful though and sounds like a good vacuum! Sounds like it was powerful too which is what you want when hoovering.

    • Laura Dove
      February 20, 2018 / 6:58 pm

It’s definitely what you need with four kids and a dog! xx

  44. Hannah Denton
    February 19, 2018 / 7:42 pm

Oh now this really is the dream! I would literally be over the moon if I opened one of those on Valentines…or any day for that matter!

Perfect for my car, I work on the road so I’m always eating in the car and dropping crisps everywhere ha ha!

    • Laura Dove
      February 20, 2018 / 6:58 pm

I have no excuse other than I like crisps, but it’s great for just whizzing over! xx

  45. February 19, 2018 / 8:03 pm

Oh wow! This looks fantastic. 🙂 I love a decent vacuum cleaner. This would be perfect for around the home to pick up the odd bits that don’t actually warrant getting the upright out.

    • Laura Dove
      February 20, 2018 / 6:59 pm

Yes! Sometimes you just can’t face lugging the main vacuum out for the tenth time that day! xx

  46. February 19, 2018 / 8:24 pm

I have the Dyson hairdryer and a Dyson hoover but we have a cheap coldness hoover. I use it all the time, more than the big Dyson, so a handheld Dyson is next on my list of things I would like! #KCACOLS

    • Laura Dove
      February 20, 2018 / 6:59 pm

Ohhh I am so jealous of the hairdryer!! You will love the Dyson hand held I’m sure! xx

  47. February 19, 2018 / 9:33 pm

This sounds amazing and what a real treat! I am forever vaccuming our house especially now Alfie will pick up every single crumb and put it in his mouth if I dont! This is so handy and also ideal for the car (my car is disgusting!!) What a great friend Laura is!!!

    • Laura Dove
      February 20, 2018 / 7:00 pm

Ahh she is! It’s a losing battle with kids sometimes isnt it? I had it out seven times yesterday, hah! xx

  48. February 19, 2018 / 10:40 pm

Vacuums are my best friednds, and I always need more of them! This one looks incredible, I love how modern and practical it is!

  49. Dogvills
    February 20, 2018 / 1:15 am

That looks like a really powerful handheld vacuum cleaner! I have been thinking of getting one that I can use for both my car and my furniture too. I’ll check out this Dyson v7 soon.

Ahh she’s the best Rhian! I love it! xx

  52. February 20, 2018 / 10:03 am

We have the Dyson V8 and I love it – I even love the trigger option because it makes cleaning up those smalls and hard to reach jobs THAT much easier! It’s a game changer for house work in my book!

    • Laura Dove
      February 20, 2018 / 7:03 pm

Yes!! You can’t beat a Dyson! xx

  53. February 20, 2018 / 10:49 am

What a lovely gift, how funny you both got each other something so similar. This looks fab, I think I need something like this as my kids forever leave little trails of crumbs or paper wherever they go x

    • Laura Dove
      February 20, 2018 / 7:03 pm

Hahah yes mine too! It’s like fighting a losing battle some days! xx

  54. February 20, 2018 / 11:08 am

Fab product, indeed this is what a woman needs, something which can help us keep the home clean. I’m always into cleaning mode due to the mess created around my house by my son.

    • Laura Dove
      February 20, 2018 / 7:04 pm

Oh me too! I never thought I would consider a vacuum the perfect valentines present though! xx

  55. February 20, 2018 / 11:58 am

I always believe in gifting something useful to the person . So that they won’t end up thinking what should I do with it . Your AEG Power Cordless Vacuum Cleaner is really helpful and thoughtful gift indeed.

    • Laura Dove
      February 20, 2018 / 7:05 pm

Yes me too! I would much prefer a practical gift at this point in my life! xx

  56. February 20, 2018 / 1:05 pm

Awww! That’s so sweet. I wish I had someone I could send gifts too for Valentine’s Day. My best friend doesn’t love me that much (joking). I love this.

    • Laura Dove

Hahah it’s a great gift right? xx

  57. February 20, 2018 / 2:38 pm

Lol, I also got a Dyson for Valentines a few years ago, but I’d totally asked for it. He wasn’t sure if he should honour my request, but I couldn’t think of anything else I needed! It’s still going strong.

      February 20, 2018 / 6:35 pm

Good for you! There’s really nothing wrong with getting a house hold appliance, and I never thought I’d see the day I said that! xx

  58. February 20, 2018 / 2:40 pm

Ha Ha …so funny you preferring the Dyson Trigger to a Valentines treat. I too need a new vacuum cleaner and although I have an old Dyson one it has definitely had its day. Its sluggish and very little suction power. This one is ideal for all those places that a regular vacuum cannot reach.

    • Laura Dove
      February 20, 2018 / 6:34 pm

Haha I honestly would prefer it to flowers and chocolates! A sure sign of my old age! xx

  59. February 20, 2018 / 3:41 pm

I always wanted a Dyson. They’re like the boss of hoovers aren’t they. I remember how excited I was when I got my first one. Was no where near as swanky as yours! I’d be thrilled with that for a v day treat! Lol

    • Laura Dove
      February 20, 2018 / 6:32 pm

Oh me too! I never thought I’d get so excited about a vacuum though! hah! xx

  60. February 20, 2018 / 4:57 pm

I always wanted a Dyson vacuum but they’re really expensive. I would understand that these are really quality vacuums but I guess I will wait when there is an offer. Same as me, I think I’d be happy getting this as a gift on V-Day.

    • Laura Dove
      February 20, 2018 / 6:29 pm

I think it’s definitely worth investing in a good quality vacuum cleaner such as a Dyson, they have a 5 year warranty too! xx

  61. February 20, 2018 / 10:57 pm

I absolutely love your valentines gift challenge you do, such a great idea. It’s always so much better to get something you really want and can properly use! I could really do with one of these for my car as the cheap hand held hoovers never really work!

    • Laura Dove
      February 21, 2018 / 8:55 pm

It was a great challenge and I loved choosing out a gift for a great friend! The Dyson is FAB! xx

      I recommend it Jenni! xx

  66. February 21, 2018 / 10:27 am

Oh how times change from flowers and chocs to cordless Vacs. Joking aside, this would be ideal for cleaning out the car, especially in the back from where our little one sits. It is always dirty crumbs and with food wrappers everywhere. This Vac would sort that problem out VERY quickly.

    Thanks for Sharing.

  69. February 21, 2018 / 1:27 pm

We need a smaller, portable vacuum cleaner for the stairs. Our is such a pain to carry up and down the stairs. I’ll definitely have to look into this one, especially with such a great battery time.

    • Laura Dove
      February 21, 2018 / 8:03 pm

Yes 30 minutes is plenty time to get round the bits you need to do. Nobody wants to be vacuuming for longer than that! xx

  70. February 21, 2018 / 1:29 pm

I absolutely NEED this Dyson V7 Trigger in my life!! I’m loving all the attachments and versatility they offer for thoroughly cleaning your house. My favorite part is how easy it would make it to vacuum my carpeted stairs!!

Dyson vacuums are just amazing aren’t they. I keep looking at smaller, handheld ones. Something like this would be perfect for those little jobs you don’t want to wheel the huge hoover out for.

    February 21, 2018 / 7:39 pm

After 17 years together we have nearly run out of things to buy each other, so I like gifts like this.

  77. February 21, 2018 / 7:54 pm

Ah my Dads got one of these little hand held Dysons and its SUCH a little gem. A real lifesaver for a quick fix – when I decide to ‘settle’ down I’m definitely getting one!

  78. February 21, 2018 / 8:43 pm

Dysons do make such amazing products. I know I have one in the house, and I used to have one when I was married. I loved knowing that the suction would be continuous and wouldn’t lose power.

  79. February 21, 2018 / 9:50 pm

Now that’s a Valentine’s Day present I wouldn’t say no to! I could do with something to get those hard to reach corners and for doing my own car too! Nice gift!

  92. February 24, 2018 / 12:53 pm

I don’t think you can beat a cordless vacuum cleaner! We have the Dyson V8 and it’s amazing. I used to find my old Dyson super heavy to use, but the newer models are much lighter and easier to manoeuvre 🙂
