What a girl really wants for Valentines Day – the Dyson V7 Trigger
When Gaz and I first got together, just seven years ago, my Valentines Day was very much about chocolate, flowers, a lavish meal out followed by a cosy meal in. Fast forward seven years and neither of us remembered to buy so much as a card, there wasn’t a flower in sight and although we did go wild with steak and chips, it’s hard to enjoy a meal when you have four children clambering all over you or shouting you to wipe their bottom!
So it’s fair to say my Valentines Day didn’t go too well…..until my special Valentines Gift was delivered that is.
Paired with my blogging BFF, the lovely Laura at Dear Bear & Beany, I was so excited to take part in the AO Valentines Gift Challenge and send each other something wonderful as an appreciation of our friendship. For those of you who don’t know Laura, she is just the best, and I genuinely don’t know how I would survive without her. And so in that way, I wanted to send her something special.
It’s a sure sign of getting old when you know that the only thing a girl really wants for Valentines Day is a new vacuum cleaner and I knew that Laura would love the AEG Power Cordless Vacuum Cleaner. As a Mum of two young girls I thought it would come in useful for her whizzing around doing the housework, and thankfully I chose right! You can read how much she loves it here.
The best thing about mine and Laura’s friendship is that we are totally on the same wavelength and so when my gift showed up, the Dyson V7 Trigger Handheld Vacuum Cleaner, I should have guessed that we would have chosen similar!
I’ve had my eye on the Dyson V7 Trigger for a long time now, lusting after the ultra-powerful, portable, hand held vacuum cleaner. With a maximum charge time of 3.5 hours, and a run time of 30 minutes, it gives plenty of time to get cleaning.
The Dyson V7 Trigger has a 0.54 litre dust capacity and weighing 1.7kg it’s far easier to manoeuvre than most full sized vacuum cleaners.
With being cordless, hand held and portable, it’s great for vacuuming the stairs. Given that I once ended up in A&E having my head glued back together after a vacuuming incident on my stairs, the Dyson Handheld is a foolproof, and safer, way for someone as clumsy as me!!
With a handy crevice tool it’s perfect for cleaning narrow gaps and tight corners as well as being super handy for cleaning the car. I used to dread vacuuming the car but now I can just whip this out and clean up any crumbs or muddy footprints!
It also comes with an upholstery tool that is specially designed to keep your furniture spotless. Despite me telling them other wise, the children insist on eating on the couch and, every time I have to lug out the main vacuum cleaner from under the stairs, I silently rage about it. With the Dyson Handheld I can literally pick it up and put it down ten times a day if necessary – which often it is!
For small cleaning jobs around the home I really can’t recommend the Dyson D7 Trigger enough. It’s portable, easy to use, extremely powerful and so convenient!
I have to tell you, given the choice of romance and flowers or a Dyson D7 Trigger, the Dyson wins every time!!
** Update – Several weeks after I reviewed the V7 Trigger, Dyson released their newest cordless 2-in-1 vacuum, the Dyson V10. I haven’t had a chance to get my hands on it yet, but it looks great!

Dyson seem to do some absolutely amazing products, I love how easy to move this is, the fact you can use it in the home and car and where ever else is awesome!

We also just got a new wireless vacuum cleaner. You can take off the upper part and use it as a hendheld cleaner just like your Dyson. It is really practical.
Isn’t it so much easier when it’s wireless? I never thought I’d get this excited over a vacuum cleaner, clearly I’m getting old! xx

Haha yes! I foolishly had the vacuum cleaner at the top and was using the nozzle to clean the stairs. One minute I was vacuuming, the next the vacuum cleaner had fallen and knocked me out! I ended up having to have my head glued to stop the bleeding! xx

Yes! I’ve got a little obsessive with it, you know how you get carried away with a new gadget? Crisps on the couch? Fear not, I’m right there with my Dyson ready to suction them up before the crumbs hit the cushions! haha! xx
Ahh! Dyson’s are just the best. This looks like a fantastic vacuum. I could imagine getting a lot of use out of this for those little jobs. With it being wireless it is just so handy x

Oh wow, this looks like an amazing and light vacuum to use, love its flexibility and size. Perfect to clean the car with especially since kids love to make a mess in the car.
Yes! When we got our new car last year I said no food allowed, but slowly it has crept in! Now at least I can vacuum it up! xx
I’m actually in the market for a new hoover, as I’ve recently moved into a new house, and my old hoover just isn’t practical now I’m in a house with stairs lol. This one looks ideal, so I might have to go check it out 🙂 x

I LOVE MY DYSON!!! All caps because I am shouting! I have the full size cordless and love it. We moved into a 4 story house with ALL CARPETS! I hate carpets but they are manageable now with my dyson! #kcacols

I would never be able to go back to a normal vacuum cleaner after getting my Dyson handheld, they make it so much easier to do everything. I got it initially when I was pregnant with PGP and I could lift or bend easily so a normal vacuum cleaner was near unusable. Everyone should get one.

This is a very useful post! Thank you! My partner and I have switched to a Neato Botvac but we still keep a handheld for odd tasks and spills. I’ve mixed feelings over the Dyson because of the owner’s political position but struggle to deny the quality of their products and this review is a timely reminder.

We got a Dyson as a wedding gift and , I am almost embarrassed to say , but it was one of the most thoughtful gifts ever. Five years that baby has been sucking up all sorts of crap and still it sucks up more . I’m a Dyson forever kinda gal !

I love my cordless Dyson, the only problem is that my 4 year old son also loves it, so I can’t use it without him wanting to vacuum the whole living room. It’s such a chore to sit down with a cup of tea and watch him doing the housework 😉

I haven’t tried a Dyson product before but I keep hearing on how good their are, especially the cordless vacuums. It’s great that this one can easily clean so many different surfaces.

I have two dysons and would not be without either of them. I have the V7 absolute which is perfect for small jobs and a bigger corded cleaner too
We also have a Dyson Ball which I love, but sometimes with kids especially, you only need it for a few seconds to vacuum up some crumbs! It’s great isn’t it? xx
I use a Dyson cordless as well and it’s so good! I am never going back to a corded cleaner, it was so awkward to do the stairs and the landing and I kept having to plug it in different places. 30 minutes battery is plenty of time for me to whiz around the house.
Yes! I think if you’re hoovering for over 30 minutes a day you need to be having a word with yourself! haha! xx

We have a similar handheld Dyson which we bought for our stairs as I found our other one too bulky and heavy for that, and both me and my husband love it! Even Max loves using it (and I very much encourage that!) What a great choice.

Everyone keeps going on about the Dyson hoovees. I need to check them out. We have the Henry hoover and it is sooo heavy, it makes me tired just carrying it around.

I agree! The customer service is great too, we had our old one repaired under warranty and when they couldn’t mend it they just sent a new one. You can’t fault that! xx

I have the Dyson hairdryer and a Dyson hoover but we have a cheap coldness hoover. I use it all the time, more than the big Dyson, so a handheld Dyson is next on my list of things I would like! #KCACOLS

Ha Ha …so funny you preferring the Dyson Trigger to a Valentines treat. I too need a new vacuum cleaner and although I have an old Dyson one it has definitely had its day. Its sluggish and very little suction power. This one is ideal for all those places that a regular vacuum cannot reach.

I always wanted a Dyson vacuum but they’re really expensive. I would understand that these are really quality vacuums but I guess I will wait when there is an offer. Same as me, I think I’d be happy getting this as a gift on V-Day.

Oh how times change from flowers and chocs to cordless Vacs. Joking aside, this would be ideal for cleaning out the car, especially in the back from where our little one sits. It is always dirty crumbs and with food wrappers everywhere. This Vac would sort that problem out VERY quickly.

We need a smaller, portable vacuum cleaner for the stairs. Our is such a pain to carry up and down the stairs. I’ll definitely have to look into this one, especially with such a great battery time.
Yes 30 minutes is plenty time to get round the bits you need to do. Nobody wants to be vacuuming for longer than that! xx
I absolutely NEED this Dyson V7 Trigger in my life!! I’m loving all the attachments and versatility they offer for thoroughly cleaning your house. My favorite part is how easy it would make it to vacuum my carpeted stairs!!

Dyson vacuums are just amazing aren’t they. I keep looking at smaller, handheld ones. Something like this would be perfect for those little jobs you don’t want to wheel the huge hoover out for.

Ah my Dads got one of these little hand held Dysons and its SUCH a little gem. A real lifesaver for a quick fix – when I decide to ‘settle’ down I’m definitely getting one!
Dysons do make such amazing products. I know I have one in the house, and I used to have one when I was married. I loved knowing that the suction would be continuous and wouldn’t lose power.
Now that’s a Valentine’s Day present I wouldn’t say no to! I could do with something to get those hard to reach corners and for doing my own car too! Nice gift!

I don’t think you can beat a cordless vacuum cleaner! We have the Dyson V8 and it’s amazing. I used to find my old Dyson super heavy to use, but the newer models are much lighter and easier to manoeuvre 🙂
