Finding My Dream Bed with Dreams Sleep Match
I love my life, I really do. I have a great husband, beautiful children, a job I adore, and a lovely home, and honestly, there is nothing at all I would change about it.
Apart from one……sleep.
For as far back as I can remember I have struggled with my sleep, as a child waking several times in the night, as a teenager unable to drift off, in my twenties when my first serious bouts of insomnia kicked in, and now, in my thirties, where I am lucky to get even a couple of hours a sleep some nights. And whilst I have tried just about everything, from homeopathic aids to medical sleep trials, I just can’t seem to reach a point where I am in a steady routine, getting good quality sleep, and waking in the morning feeling refreshed. Infact I honestly can’t remember the last time I wasn’t tired.
Alongside my sleep issues, I live with chronic illness which basically means that as soon as I lie down in bed each night I experience a world of pain, tossing and turning to find a position that doesn’t apply too much pressure to any of my joints and, if by some miracle I do get some sleep, I wake in agony feeling as though I’ve been hit by a truck.
And so when I was invited to put the Dreams Sleep Match technology to the test, it’s safe to say I leapt at the chance. I have always thought that many of my issues are down to the fact I am sleeping on the wrong mattress. Ordered online, with no prior testing, I can still remember the day it arrived and how I had cried the first time I lay down on it and realised that the luxurious memory foam mattress I had seen on line was infact a 5cm deep piece of concrete. That was one mistake Ive been paying the price for ever since.
So when the day came for me to visit our nearest Dreams store, I was so excited to find my perfect mattress. With that in mind I was confident they really know their stuff!
On the day of my visit I arrived at the store to be greeted warmly by two members of staff who were more than willing to talk me through the Sleep Match technology. For those who aren’t familiar with this, Sleep Match is Dreams’ purpose-build bed designed to help you in your search for a great nights sleep, matching you to your mattress within a matter of minutes.
Using 18 statistical measurements, over 1000 scientific calculations, along with information provided about your sleep preferences, Sleep Match identifies the optimal postural support for your body and recommends suitable mattresses for you. Simple!
You can use the Sleep Match alone or with a partner but with Gaz at work I was able to give his height and weight to input into the computer to help find a mattress to suit both our needs. And then it was simply a case of lying down on the bed for three minutes and letting the technology get to work!
I was then given a colour coded list of suitable mattresses, from traditional spring to TEMPUR, covering a range of budgets, which I could then try myself to decide which was the perfect mattress for me!
The thing I love the most about Sleep Match is that it completely takes away the overwhelming panic of where to start in a large store, faced with so many different mattresses to choose from. As lovely as it would be to spend a whole day lying down and trying out each bed individually, time, and the kids, just wouldn’t allow it and so this way, in must three minutes, I had a narrowed down list to try knowing that each of them would be suitable for my needs.
Although all of the mattresses were comfortable, there was one which stood out for me – the TEMPUR Cooltouch Sensation Elite. As soon as I lay down on it I knew that this was the mattress I was going to choose. Not only was it comfortable and supportive, but as soon as I heard the words removable, washable cover I was sold!!
Our mattress arrived just a couple of weeks later, brought promptly in our allocated time slot, carried into our home, up the stairs, and placed on our bed. All packaging was then removed and taken away and it couldn’t have felt any easier! Dreams also offer a service to take away old mattresses (at an additional cost) should you require this service which I think is so helpful.
After allowing our mattress to rest, as instructed by the delivery men, it was time to put it to the test and as soon as I flopped down on it I knew we had absolutely made the right choice.
With flexible open-cell walls, the TEMPUR Cooltouch Sensation Elite is both supportive and comfortable and, with this dynamic support layer, it recovers from compression much quicker which means you can move around on the surface more freely. It also benefits from the CoolTouch™ cover to prevent overheating at night, something I knew Gaz would love.
Woven into the mattress, it keeps your cover cool to the touch whilst absorbing excess heat as you sleep which is such a good idea as having the right body temperature is so important for a good nights sleep.
We’ve been sleeping on the TEMPUR Cooltouch Sensation Elite mattress for the last few weeks and honestly, it has made a huge difference. Of course it doesn’t hold the magic key to beating insomnia and falling asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow (although how amazing would that be?), but once I am asleep, I have been sleeping far better. Usually I would wake four, five, six times throughout a short sleep and yet now I am getting good quality, deep sleep, and waking feeling way more refreshed.
I’ve noticed when I get out of bed each morning my joints aren’t quite as sore, that I am able to sit up and spring out of bed far easier than I used to, and it sounds like a real cliche, but it’s made such a big difference to my life.
Being tired has a knock on effect on every area of my life and just getting that good quality sleep has meant I have more patience with the children, I’m more productive in my working day, and I’m establishing a far better routine as a result. It’s even given me the motivation to finally start planning our bedroom makeover, a job I have been putting off ever since we moved into our home five years ago!

A good night’s sleep is a must! This Tempur mattress sounds perfect, it looks so comfy and marshmallowy, I could just sink into it right now.
This new technology looks so clever! We have a memory foam mattress too and it’s so comfy. Not quite so bouncy for the kids to bounce on though! Or the grown ups (nudge, nudge, wink, wink!)

Wow – honestly I didn’t even know something like this technology exists. But it makes so much sense. This is super useful because I recently has issues with sleeping and it look a lot of digging around and guessing to figure out it was my pillow. I would love to check this out!

A good mattress is so important, both my husband and my daughter fidget at night my husband with his legs due to an accident a few years ago and my Daughter due to her chronic illness. It gets very confusing when lookng for a new mattress but I do love the sound of the one you have chosen. I think we need to look into changing ours to these x

What a cool experience! I’ve always wondered what kind of mattress would be the best for me. I seem to prefer softer mattresses, but I’m not sure if that is helpful for my back or if I would be better off with something different. My hubby and I are talking about needing a new mattress, so maybe we’ll try to find a US version of this kind of store!
Yes I prefer a soft mattress but I know that for my back I need something firmer. TEMPUR has given us the best of both worlds as it feels lovely and soft but with all of that extra support. It’s really helped! xx

This mattress looks like something my son needs. He is fidgety in bed and it takes him awhile to doze off. This might help him sleep more comfortably.
They look like they are great mattresses. I could definitely use something like this as I do toss and turn in my sleep a bit. And having something absorb my movement would be helpful. Sounds like a great mattress. I hope I can find them somewhere around me.

I tell you, other countries, especially london and germany just know how to do furniture right. They don’t skimp on quality like they do here in the U.S. I got a chance to try out a sleep match mattress and I must say it felt better than any other mattress I’ve tried before. If only I could avoid the massive shipping rates, this mattress would be in my bedroom in a heartbeat!
