Experience Freedom: Introducing Cycle Fest!

As a family we love nothing more than getting outdoors, regardless of whether the sun is shining or the heavens are opening. As a child I was never indoors, I was always out running wild, zooming around on my pink BMX, climbing trees and making dens, and I want the same for my children.

Last Summer we decided to delve into the world of camping, something which, with four children, we were pretty nervous about. Although I had enjoyed camping as a child, Gaz had terrible experiences of it, so he did take some persuading! It turns out that our first camping trip away ended up being one of the best holidays we have ever shared together, enjoying four wonderful, sunny days, over on Anglesey. We played on the beach, went crabbing off the pier, and ate more ice creams than I care to count, and it was absolute bliss!

Our only regret was that we didn’t take our bikes, and that is definitely something we will do this year! With Lewis and Gaz keen mountain bikers, and the youngest three gaining their confidence at cycling, it’s the one thing which we can all really enjoy together, albeit at our own pace, and something we want to do so much more of this year.

For that reason we were intrigued to discover an amazing event taking place on the 27th May, Cycle Fest, hosted by Experience Freedom. Experience Freedom gives you luxury accommodation in some of the most beautiful locations throughout the UK. They offer modern self-contained glamping pods or canvas yurts, as well as pitch your own tents and even motorhome hire. For us, it’s the perfect holiday – a beautiful location, lots of fresh air, and perfect for a family bike ride!

Cycle Fest is particularly interesting to us given our interest, and it sounds as though it is going to be an amazing event! Cycle Fest is ran over three locations, The Scottish, The Welsh and The National.

Our nearest Cycle Fest is in Sledmore, a picturesque village over in Yorkshire, where The National is also running. There are lots of activities to take part in and, for us as a family, a really exciting family bike ride that we could all enjoy! The National Wanderer family cycle ride will set off from Sledmere House in Yorkshire at 11:00 am on Sunday 27th May. At eight miles it is an ideal route for younger riders and families, taking in the wonderful surroundings that this region has to offer.

This is a fun ride, for all types of bikes, and participants can ride at their own pace. With Harry still being small he usually goes on the back of Gaz’s bike so as not to slow us down too much, although I’m sure in no time at all he will be whizzing past the lot of us!

The Cyclefest entry also allows you access to the National hosted by the Caravan and Motorhome Club on the 25-29th May. This is on the grounds of Sledmere House and offers fun family shows, day and night, stalls and traders, street food, crafts, competitions and so much more! It’s a real family event!

Experience Freedom also have a competition running which is open to anyone who enters Cyclefest: Courtesy of Belle France! You could win a family cycling holiday for 2 adults and 2 children in the Loire region of France worth £4,000! The prize includes 6 nights half-board accommodation, cycle hire, luggage transfers and comprehensive route notes plus the services of the Belle France Rep. To be in with a chance to win, simply enter one of their Sportives or Family Rides – what a fun entry requirement that is. You can find out more by clicking on the image below.

We are also offering one lucky winner the chance to win a pair of tickets to the Cyclefest at Sledmore and the National. To enter simply follow the link below, the winner will be notified via email by Monday 14th May. Good Luck!

What a lovely event , I recently took adult bike classes and learnt to ride a bike . Although I am not fully confident I am improving and hope to go on cycling holidays with my family.

We also like camping, cycling, Anglesey and East Yorkshire. Not to mention we adored the Loire last time we were there. It seems we have a lot in common! It’s hard taking bikes as well as all the camping equipment, we damaged our suspension a couple of times doing that. But they are activities which go perfectly together.

Oh I lived nearer I would most definitely enter the ‘cycle fest giveaway’ as I would like to be able to cycle more. Especially since it has been a while since I have actually been on a bike. And how amazing does the family holiday prize sound too?

Cyclefest sound like something I’d love to get my kids to be involved with. Ethan is rather an expert at cycling now and we are just trying to get Evelyn finding her grip with it too. We love cycling as a family so much that we also had some fun cycling in Rome too. Thanks Laura for sharing. I have entered. Finger crossed. 🙂 x
