Creating a feature gallery wall with Desenio
Back in the good old days, when we used to be able to welcome guests into our home, the first thing they would comment on is our gallery wall in our front room created from Desenio prints and striking gold frames. As you come into the hall way you’ll find another gallery wall with gorgeous oak frames, and into our kitchen, another, with black frames to match our decor. And so when we updated our back room with accents of mustard and copper, we knew straight away that a feature gallery wall would be our final touch and that this time we would be choosing the copper frames from Desenio.
Very often I hear others say they wouldn’t know where to start with creating a gallery wall and yet Desenio makes it incredibly easy. Not only can you use the gallery wall tool on their website to choose the size, lay out and style of your images and frames, but you can browse through their gallery for inspiration, search by categories, colour and size. It couldn’t be any easier!
With keeping our decor neutral with accents of mustard and copper, we knew we wanted to keep our prints quite neutral and yet had no real theme in mind. The great thing about Desenio is that they have such a varied range of prints that you can create something entirely unique and that’s exactly what we did. The first print we chose was the Ciao Bella 30 x 40 poster which was a nod to our Summer spent in Italy and the first Italian phrase the children learned. We also went with the gorgeous Golden Leaves poster which we have in our from room and is the perfect accent to tie in any greenery.
Alongside that we went for the Golden Curves poster which is a lovely abstract design tying in the golden/mustard tones from our decor and to compliment those tones we chose the Golden Salt Lake print for not other reason than we loved the neutral colours and how calming it was to look at. I also know that I really wanted to include a quote in our gallery and, with so many to choose from, spent a lot of time reading them and choosing one which really resonated with our family. For that reason the Life is Short quote from Mark Twain seemed like the perfect choice and every day I read it and remind myself how important that advice is for all of us.
Once I had added all of our choices into the gallery wall tool we were able to choose the frames, we went for the copper, and then add all of the items into our basket and they were delivered within days. I am always so impressed with how well packaged Desenio prints and frames are with each print in a good quality cardboard tube and each frame individually protected with easy to remove plastic film to prevent scratches.
The hardest part of creating our gallery wall was definitely putting it up on our wall and, as I often joke is the case, it’s a true test of any marriage to do this with your partner. Thankfully once you’ve got the first print positioned it does become a lot easier to hang the rest and with the frames being lightweight you can do this just with a simple nail in the wall without the need for any heavy duty materials or drilling.
As always we are over the moon with our gallery wall and continue to recommend Desenio to anyone and everyone. In all of our years buying frames and prints, I think Desenio are unbeatable in terms of range, quality and price and when we come to renovate our upstairs this coming year, they will be my first port of call for our gallery walls.
