** Win ** A Woom Bike from The Little Bike Company!!
One of the most important thing for me as a parent is making sure that my children get outdoors each day and don’t fall into that trap of sitting glued to a screen as they grow. As a result, come rain or shine, you will find us outdoors and, even on the wettest, greyest, miserable of days, we will always manage to find an adventure. One of our favourite things to do together is cycle and, since Eva, Megan and Harry gained their confidence on two wheels, it’s something we do together most weekends whether that’s a quick circle of the park or an epic adventure ride through the forest. I love that with Harry at 5 and Lewis at 15, it’s something we can all enjoy together and those moments are some of my favourite, no doubt about it.
When it comes to buying a new bike I always think that it pays to buy the best you can afford at that time in order to get the most out of it. Often it’s tempting to go for the cheapest option but when you’ve got a heavy, chunky bike for your child to learn on it can be enough to put them off wanting to learn to ride full stop. And that’s where The Little Bike Company offers an alternative – Woom bikes.

Woom bikes are exclusive to The Little Bike Company, designed and made in Austria, and some of the lightest children’s bikes available, even in comparison to other lightweight brands in the UK. Made from super light weight aluminium tubing, matched with high quality wheels, not only do they look great but they feel great to ride too.

Harry was recently sent the Woom 3, available in a choice of five colours and, having chosen red “like Spiderman”, it was clear he had made the right choice. I’m not sure I have ever seen a bike so lovely and vibrant, it literally gleams!

Suitable for children with an inside leg measurement between 47 – 54cm, around 4 to 6 years, the bike itself weights just 5.6kg making it one of the lightest 16″ wheel bikes available. You can really feel the difference the second you lift the bike and, if you can lift it that easily, it makes sense that a child will find it far easier to ride than something heavier and more cumbersome.

The bike is designed to make riding easier for kids and in return make riding a bike more fun. The Little Bike Company are passionate about making sure that all kids have fun on their bikes so they are more likely to persist in learning and improving their skills. This in turn boosts their self-esteem and resilience and makes for confidenct cyclists as they grow.

With a low centre of gravity and a higher handlebar position, Woom bikes are designed to be easier to ride. They also have some great little safety features such as handbag grips, perfect for little hands to keep a tight hold, as well as small hand reach brakes which I have never seen before on other bikes.

The seat is easily adjusted to find the perfect riding position for your child and as soon as Harry sat on the bike he commented on just how comfortable it was. I think we can all appreciate that when you’re going on a long bike ride, a comfortable seat is a must!!

The Little Bike Company very kindly fitted a kick stand to Harry’s bike (RRP £13) which is an added extra but I would definitely recommend it. Having never had a stand on his bike before Harry was so excited to put it down every time he stopped for a breather!

I’m going to be honest with you here, at £300 for the Woom 3, these bikes are not the cheapest out there and nor do they claim to be. What they do claim to be are light weight, good quality, safe, trustworthy, beautifully designed bikes for your child to, not only learn to ride, but develop a long term love of cycling to take them through life. And, having seen Harry flying up and down the park after school each night this week, easily manoeuvring his bike and displaying skills we didn’t know existed, I can tell you that it is absolutely worth spending that little bit extra to buy one.

I think the best review comes from Harry who, after a week of riding the bike knows it better than any of us, and is brutally honest to say the least. So when I asked him what he thought of the bike and he told me, “Mummy, it’s the best bike in the whole world and I love it infinity times infinity!”, it’s safe to say that it’s been a huge hit with him too!

Together with The Little Bike Company I am giving away a Woom bike 3* to one lucky winner over on instagram!!
You can enter the competition HERE.
*Should the winner wish to choose something other than the 3, an alternative choice can be made up to the value of £300 with anything further paid separately.
