Every Summer, without fail, I find myself searching the shops for the perfect Summer dress; a dress that I can wear to the beach, a BBQ or a night out with friends, that I can dress up and down and most of all feel comfortable in. And I can’t tell you how hard it is to find a dress like that, especially at my age! Everything is either too short, too tight, too revealing, or at the opposite end of the scale too conservative, too dull, too “Mumsy”. Despite being a Mum of five, and fast approaching forty, I still like my Summer wardrobe to reflect my fun side, to be bright and sunny and out of the ordinary….not that I’m fussy….right?
So when I discovered Rock My Vintage I felt as though I had finally found a site which gave me everything I was wanting in an outfit – a combination of classic and contemporary, with vintage designs to suit all ages, and something for every occasion. And one dress instantly jumped out at me!
This gorgeous 1940’s style Ice Cream Print dress from Emily & Fin really is the perfect Summer dress. Made from 100% cotton with a nipped in waist, sweetheart neckline and wide shoulder straps, it is super comfortable to wear!
As a Mum I love that it has two pockets, perfect, not only to pop my phone in but to fit in all of the many things that I have to carry whilst we are out and about – wilting daisies, pebbles and “treasure”, all of the little bits of toys that we can’t possible leave home without and I inevitably end up carrying!
Unlike many dresses on the high street, despite being 5 foot 8, this one is such a great length. Sitting just below the knee it is the perfect length for still being able to bend down to pick up the children or get down on the floor and play, whilst still being short enough to get a bit of sun to my legs!
Although I recently wore this dress on a night out, paired with tan wedges and matching clutch, I have also worn it just as much throughout the day, dressed down with a pair of flip flops, and haven’t felt over dressed or out of place.
I recently wore it on our trip to Chester Zoo, and received countless compliments from random strangers, asking me where it was from!
The ice cream detail is so quirky and yet the colours are so pretty that you wouldn’t instantly recognise that it was covered in ice creams until you looked closer.
This is my first dress from Rock My Vintage but it certainly won’t be my last! In fact I have already ordered a couple more for our holiday and I am sure I will love them just as much as I do this one
