5 Reasons to Save for a Rainy Day
When it comes to money, we will all have different views on how it works and what it’s for. Some of us will love to live large and spend when we can, while others will prefer to be more frugal and save. Neither is wrong and many of us fall in the middle. But regardless of what you believe it, saving for a rainy day (aka, saving up for the sake of having savings) can be important. Let’s take a look at why.
1. To Pay for Unexpected Bills
For starters, the number one reason why you may want to save for a rainy day is the idea of being able to pay when unexpected bills arise. When we’re hit with bills that we have no idea were coming, it can be incredibly stressful. But if you know that you have some money in the bank for that, then it can feel okay. You won’t feel caught out and you’ll have the money to pay for it too.
2. To Fix Things That Go Wrong
But it’s not just bills out of the blue that we can have. You may find that there are also things that can go wrong in your life too. Maybe you have a leak and you have to call out a plumber or you need to pay to help someone in need in your family with medical expenses. Having money behind you to be able to do things like this is always a good thing.
3. To Treat Yourself
Sometimes, it can be as simple as having the ability to treat yourself when you’ve worked hard or feeling stressed out. Having money behind you allows you to have the freedom to do exactly that. It’s not always about hoarding money in case of emergencies, but allowing yourself to enjoy it once in awhile too.
4. To Reach Your Goals
Or, it might be that you want to be able to reach any goals that you might have set for yourself. This can work in a multitude of ways. First of all, it could be that you have a set financial amount that you want to save. Or it could be that you want to travel the world or start a business. Whatever goals that you have, being able to save up some money to be able to execute them is always a good idea.
5. To Go On Holiday
Finally, it might even be the case that you’ve been saving or a rainy day for so long that you then find that you have a nice little pot saved up and you can use some as holiday savings too. Now, you might be the kind of person that likes to have savings pots and to move money into separate accounts for different things. But if you just save, save, save, and have one pot for it all, this can feel like a nice reward or all of your hard work. Plus, the family then gets to benefit as a result too.
