How to Furnish Your Bedroom on a Strict Budget

Every now and then it’s good to give your bedroom a bit of a makeover. After all, the bedroom is the most personal room, and somewhere that you will want to truly make your own. Whether it’s a room that you have to yourself, or you share it with a partner, you want your bedroom to be as calm and relaxing a place as possible.

Fortunately, furnishing your bedroom doesn’t have to be expensive. If you know what you are doing, then you can easily give your bedroom a complete makeover for relatively little money. Whatever the reason that you find yourself working on a strict budget, if you have the willpower and patience to seek out the best deals available, you will find that furnishing a bedroom doesn’t need to cost the world.

Here are some simple ideas for saving money when furnishing your bedroom.

Rearrange Your Furniture

You might not think it, but simply moving around the furniture that you already have in your room can make it feel like an entirely new design. And best of all, moving what you already own won’t cost you a penny. This is an excellent way of changing the feel of your room, and it is a good idea to rearrange your furniture before you start looking at adding/replacing furniture. If you decide to replace or add some furniture, then look at websites such as https://www.theplaceforhomesltd.co.uk/ to get the best price possible.

Change the Walls

Painting your walls a different colour is the simplest way of instantly altering the feel of a room. The colour scheme you choose will make a big impact on the way that guests perceive the space. Lighter colours will make your room feel more open; conversely, dark colours make rooms feel smaller, but sometimes this is preferred in order to match furniture. If you don’t like the idea of repainting, then there is always the option of adding wallpaper instead.

Hang Some Art

The art that you put on the walls of your bedroom will not only change the way that other people perceive the room, it will also convey something of your tastes and personality. Art is a very personal thing, there is no right or wrong approach. The main reason that most people don’t hang art on their walls is because they lack confidence in their knowledge and feel that art is specialist and expensive.

The art you hang doesn’t have to be an expensive canvas print, even your family photos and holiday snaps can be used as art. Any kind of visual object, be it a sculpture, a poster, a photo, or a painting, is a piece of art and can be used to alter the mood of your bedroom.

Furnishing a bedroom doesn’t have to be expensive. Some of the best home decorating is the most creative, and nothing inspires creativity quite like the restrictions that are imposed by a strict budget. Think about how you can improvise some creative solutions to your furnishing goals and make sure to look for the best deal on any purchases you make.

I normally buy new bed linen when I am fed up of my bedroom but even that is not cheap or easy on a budget these days!

We’ve made it really easy to switch our children’s decor as they fancy a change or grow out of it by neutral walls and fantastic easy to remove wall stickers

When I was a kid I used to rearrange the furniture in my bedroom all the time. It’s not something I’ve thought of as an adult though, but I know it can make a huge difference

Great ideas. I rearranged our bedroom a couple of years ago, and used chalk paint to rejuvenate our tired old pine bed. It worked wonders!
I think people should just never be afraid to let their personality show in rooms.

Ahh you’ve given me the kick I need to sort our bedroom out – it’s a right tip and state at the moment. I think some new art and a furniture shuffle round could really make a difference. As well as big tidy! Ha ha.

We moved in two years ago, and have yet to repaint, but that’s something I’d love to do to spruce things up. Also bought enough stencilled wallpaper for a feature wall at some point. I usually hate wallpaper, but it’s butterflies, so it works.

Great tips! I recently painted one of my walls purple and it was so surprising just how much of a change that made. I keep meaning to hang some art or pictures too so it feels more personal!
