With Valentines Day just around the corner it’s time to start thinking about the perfect gift for the one you love. I really struggle when it comes to gifts, particularly for Valentines Day when I want to choose something other than the usual clichéd gift ideas and so I have put together five romantic gift ideas that you can’t pick up in the super market!
As parents it’s very difficult for Gaz and I to get time to ourselves, juggling work, kids and family life, and so escaping for a weekend together is not only lovely, but it’s very much a necessity! I’ve been looking at Niche Retreats for inspiration where they have a whole category for Couples Retreats and you can select any must have accommodation style, features, and locations. I have totally fallen in love with this amazing Hobbit House accommodation in Sussex – complete with quirky features, an unusual design, and most importantly….a hot tub! For something a little more unusual, it’s the perfect spot to spend a Valentines weekend!
Hot Air Balloon Ride
Is there anything more romantic than a hot air balloon ride at sun rise or sun set? There are various places throughout the UK where you can book on for a hot air balloon ride, with prices starting at around £100 per person. For an extra special ride you can include champagne to make a toast to each other, and then sit back and just enjoy the view. It’s something I have always wanted to do and I think sharing it with the one you love would make it all the more memorable.
A trip to the theatre is lovely whatever the time of year, but at Valentines Day it can be even more romantic. Gaz and I used to love to go to the theatre together although these days it’s more Disney than West End. There is nothing nicer than getting dressed up, going out for dinner, and seeing a show, and if you can wangle a baby sitter then a night in a hotel afterwards is the perfect way to really make the most of it.
Valentines Day is the perfect time to treat your loved one to some rest and relaxation, and what better way than with a spa day? There are so many spa packages available at this time of year for couples to enjoy, from relaxing around the pool or indulging in a couples massage, you can guarantee you’ll be leaving feeling completely relaxed!
Romantic Night In
The thing with Valentines Day is that with it following Christmas and New Year, many of us aren’t exactly flush with cash and as lovely as the more extravagant gifts are, they aren’t always possible. For those on a budget you can still enjoy a unique Valentines Day experience with a night in – a delicious home cooked meal, a carpet picnic, watching a romantic film together, or simply running your partner a bath. Sometimes the little things are just as lovely and let’s face it, on the day of love, it’s all about who you spend it with.
