** WIN ** The Travelling Reader Subscription Box: Hampshire to London
Last month I shared how excited Eva was to receive her first subscription box from The Travelling Reader and she thoroughly enjoyed reading the book, looking at the maps and of course, eating the chocolate! Where as last months box was centred around Cambridge, this months was all about Hampshire to London.
Every month the boxes contain similar products, always a book based in the given area, a book mark, a treat, photos and a gift item. Slotted inside the book there are postcards to discover too which Eva particularly loves.
This months book was Black Powder by Ally Sherrick, a story set in England in 1605, where 12 year old Tom must save his father from hanging. The story sees him meet a mysterious stranger – the Falcon – who promises to help him in exchange for his service. On the way to London Tom discovers the Falcon’s true mission – to blow up the House of Parliament with barrels of black powder! Tom must then make a difficult decision – to secure his father’s release or stop the assassination of the king!!
Included in the box is a letter from Ally Sherrick herself to the reader, explaining a little more about the background of the book and where the idea came from. I love what a personal touch this is and Eva particularly loves reading these letters and treasuring them afterwards.
Also in this months box was a book mark, some handmade soap spelling “Books”. a white mouse and a large chocolate. I thought the gifts included this month were fantastic and you seem to get such a lot for the subscription fee each month. As you can imagine Eva was over the moon with the chocolate and soap and kindly shared these with Megan and Harry.
Inside each monthly box you also get a selection of maps and leaflets from the local area which is great for those like us who love to travel. The children love planning our next adventures and, with many of the leaflets showcasing the local attractions, we enjoyed adding many of these to our wish list for when travel within the UK reopens.
I think the Travelling Reader Box subscription is such a good idea and absolutely worth the fee each month for such a gorgeous parcel packed with all of these goodies and a lovely new book. Reading is so important for all children and particularly for those who perhaps don’t have as much interest in reading as others, these boxes are a great way to really trigger that passion for books!
