Review & Giveaway: TIMIO – the educational audio and music player for kids

As a family who loves to travel we are all about making life on the road easier, and with four children that often means finding new gadgets to keep them entertained! Although my children do have tablets, I am very careful about limiting screen time and as a result I am always on the look out for screen-free ways to keep them busy during long car journeys or days stuck at home. So when we were sent TIMIO, the educational audio and music player for kids, I knew the children would enjoy using it.

Over the last couple of years we’ve used several music and audio players and so I was keen to see how this one was different. The main obvious difference is that amazingly, TIMIO comes in 6 different languages so not only is it fun to use, but it’s always a great way to teach your children to speak a foreign language.

What is TIMIO?

TIMIO is an educational audio and music player designed for children but with parents in mind. TIMIO offers quality sound, interactivity, and content to help develop your child’s vocabulary, intellect, and imagination. TIMIO uses magnetic discs to unlock a library of curated content. From nursery rhymes and lullabies to fairy tales and vocabulary, all in 6 different languages, TIMIO will also ask questions and this interactivity reinforces the learning process.

What’s in the box?

  • TIMIO Portable Digital Audio Player
  • 20 Interactive Content Discs
  • 3 x AA batteries
  • Handy storage bag

How does it work?

The best thing about TIMIO is that there is no set up required and I don’t know about you but that was music to my ears! TIMIO works on 3 AA batteries (included) and the discs simply magnetically attach to the player so children can do this entirely by themselves easily and safely.

The discs cover a broad range of topics and include 4 musical discs, 2 story discs, 13 vocabulary discs, and 1 musical instruments disc. You can change the volume, the language, and easily change discs in just seconds. With no buttons, screens, small parts, TIMIO can be used from birth for bedtime lullabies right up to older children to either develop vocabulary, enjoy quizzes, sing songs or learn a foreign language.

What did we think?

As a parent TIMIO massively impressed me and not only because of the lack of set up required! I love that TIMIO is completely screen-free to encourage the children to listen better and, because it doesn’t connect to the internet you can use it just about anywhere! My favourite thing about TIMIO is that it can teach the children a foreign language (English, Spanish, French, German, Dutch and Mandarin Chinese) in a fun and interactive way. Children are like sponges at a young age and I have been so impressed with how fast they have picked up on so many words across every language.

For the children, TIMIO has been a real hit. They are loving the bedtime stories, the songs, telling the time and the animal discs. With a carry handle it’s been everywhere with us over the last few weeks and, because there are no screens to hog and the volume is adjustable, it means all three of the children can listen and learn together without falling out. Now that’s a real win!!!
