Future Health Biobank: Win Dental Pulp Banking Service

From the moment we give birth, as parents, we all have one common interest for the health and well-being of our child. I know that for me, from the second they were placed in my arms I knew I would do everything in my power to keep them safe and protected not just during infancy, but for their entire lifetime. And one way to do just that is via Dental Pulp Banking, something I knew very little about until recently.

What is Dental Pulp Banking?

Future Health Biobank explain, “Stem cells are the building blocks of life, they create a direct link between your child’s good health at the time they are born and their good health in the future. Should your child face any number of a vast range of health issues in later life, stem cells may be the key to repairing and restoring their health. Dental Pulp Banking is the process of storing these cells.

The dental pulp within milk teeth contain your child’s own unique cells, meaning they are a perfect match and carry a significant probability of a match for other members of the family too. They can be held as a type of biological insurance, which one day might help to save their life should they ever contract a serious illness or medical condition.

Mesenchymal stem cells that may be present within dental pulp, could play an important part in repair and regeneration treatments for diseases such as: Arthritis, Muscular dystrophy, Neurogenerative diseases & Myocardial infarctions.”

So how does it work?

Future Health Biobank is a global leader in quality stem cell processing, cryopreservation and screening services and have collected over 150,000 samples across 75 countries over 17 years and are ready and waiting to help you bank your child’s dental pulp. It really couldn’t be easier!

Once you have completed your initial agreement online or by post, you simply alert Future Health Biobank when your child shows signs of a wobbly tooth so they can send out a collection kit.

As soon as your child’s tooth comes out simply follow the instructions found within the collection kit along with everything else you need to collect and return your child’s tooth sample.

You then simply package the tooth as instructed, making sure to fill in the donor’s medical history questionnaire, remove the blood test kit and store in a safe place until the customer care team arrange courier collection at a time to suit you. They then arrange for a medically approved courier to collect and deliver the kit to their laboratory.

Once the tooth has been collected the Customer Care services will arrange a blood test to take place within the next few days and it’s as simple as that! I had no idea how easy it would be to have my children’s dental pulp banked in this way, nor how beneficial it would be for their future health to have that in place. It’s really opened my eyes to the importance of these methods.

Of course, with Dental Pulp Banking does not come cheap, with prices starting at £1895 (with £95 yearly storage fee applicable) and yet for many parents this level of reassurance for their future health makes it worth every single penny I’m sure.
