Camp Kernow Giveaway – win two places worth £1020

For many children, and parents, the Summer holidays can feel like an awfully long time, and for that reason the UK is fast following in the footsteps of America with the introduction of children’s summer camps, something which I think is a huge positive for our children.

When it comes to children, there is no better start than a summer camp – teaching our children to appreciate the outdoors, gain independence, learn new skills, and forge friendships. For working parents, it’s a great way of allowing our children the freedom to explore, and enjoy new challenges, sports and crafts, during the weeks we are unable to get outdoors alongside them. I personally think it’s a great idea!

Listed amongst the top three British children’s summer camps in last weeks Sunday Telegraph, is Camp Kernow, set in the heart of the Cornish countryside. Camp Kernow is an environmentally conscious camp, teaching fun, and important skills, and offering pioneering off-grid environmental adventures. Camp Kernow’s aims to reconnect children with nature and inspire them about sustainability, something which, as parents, I’m sure we will all agree is so important in life.

The award winning not-for-profit camp has six day environmental adventures taking place throughout August offering a jam packed programme of activities and unforgettable outdoor experiences.

Activities may include –

  • Wild wood campouts
  • Kayaking
  • Wall climbing
  • Wild food foraging
  • Animal tracking
  • Falconry
  • Tree climbing workshops
  • Forging with a local blacksmith
  • Shelter building
  • Silk screen printing
  • Tuffet weaving
  • Stone carving
  • Leatherwork
  • Wind turbine making

New activities for this years camp include Tree Bathing workshops where children can practice mindfulness and meditation in the camp’s enchanting woods; Wild Wood Campouts where children can build their own shelter and fire in the woods where they will stay for the night amongst the trees to listen to badgers and others nocturnal beasts; and a visit from an edible insect expert!

At £510 per child for a six day session, this provides the ultimate Summer experience to provide your child with priceless skills for the future.

Located just outside Truro, the camp sits in a two hundred acre private estate of woodlands, streams, lakes and organic pasture, providing a haven for wildlife as well as an endless playground for campers to explore.

Camp Kernow is offering one lucky winner the chance to attend their camp between 19-24 August 2018, for themselves and a friend, worth £1020. ***.

My son deserved to win because he didn’t have a great start in life. We adopted him age 4 and he came with lots of issues however he has worked hard and been through a lot of stresses but has came out the other side. This would be a fantastic experience for him – it’d make him happy something he has missed out on in the past.

My children are home educated and although they do lots with children in small groups, I think they’d love to try a larger group setting and this would be great to expand their range of activities.
