After the longest, toughest year for many of us, I’m sure I’m not the only one planning ahead for the perfect holiday locations once the UK travel ban lifts this month. As you all know we completely fell in love with Crete last year and, desperate to return, have been wowed by Villa Freedom – a secluded luxury stone house villa spread where you can guarantee peace and quiet, sunshine filled days and the opportunity to make memories to treasure forever.

For us as a family with three young children, complete privacy is really important. Situated at the east of Kokkino Chorio, without a single neighbour in sight, Villa Freedom spans 4000m2 meaning you can spread out as a family, allow the kids to make as much or as little noise as you like, and not have to worry about anything at all other than enjoying your time with each other. Although Villa Freedom provides a professional daily cleaning service, their employees are all extremely efficient and discreet.
2. Holiday with friends or family
The most amazing thing about Villa Freedom is that it sleeps up to 18 guests across 2 villa, 4 bedrooms and a loft estate, meaning you can holiday with extended family or friends to make it a real occasion to celebrate. I love the idea of holidaying with the grandparents, perhaps a little selfishly for a helping hand with the children and maybe even a night out as a couple with a babysitter at hand!
Plus with Villa Freedom consisting of two villas, should you holiday with another family you will each have your own cooking, bathing and living facilities so although you are enjoying time as a group, you can still have your own time with your family which is often needed to unwind. It’s such an amazing set up and with the estate being so large, even with 18 guests it would never feel crowded.
3. Heated pool
Crete offers a warm climate from March through to October although at the start and end of the season the water can be a little cool. Villa Freedom has a large outdoor heated swimming pool which can be used all year round as well as a jacuzzi and a hot tub, all of which are cleaned weekly! The pool area is just stunning with sun beds, hammocks, seating and relaxing areas as well as stunning views throughout. It looks idyllic!

Not only does Villa Freedom provide a daily clean but they offer all linen and towels, free WiFi, a fully equipped kitchen, multiple dining areas, satellite television, high brand toiletries in the bathrooms, air conditioning, fireplace and central heating, a welcome pack, coffee machines and even slippers. Although Villa Freedom is indeed a home away from home, it also has the air of a luxury five star hotel but with so many extra bonuses!
5. Wheelchair Accessible
I love that Villa Freedom is completely inclusive and caters for those with disabilities by offering wheelchair accessible rooms. Often it can be difficult for those in a wheelchair to travel abroad when accommodation doesn’t cater for their disability so Villa Freedom is such a great choice should this apply to any member of your party.

The most important for us travelling as a family is to stay at locations with enough to entertain the kids, When staying at somewhere as amazing as Villa Freedom you’re going to want to spend a lot of time just at the villa itself so the fact the children’s facilities are so great is a huge bonus. Not only is there a large children’s playground but there’s a pool table, perfect for older children, a large lawn perfect for games and even a mini soccer field!
Villa Freedom can also offer a babysitting service for children aged 3+ to include pool activities, garden games, face painting, arts and crafts and other activities. Like your very own private kids club!

Another bonus, especially for us parents, is that Villa Freedom can organise luxury treatments delivered direct to your villa (at an additional cost) including massages, beauty treatments, manicures and pedicures. I love the idea of having a traditional Cretan massage or treating myself to a pedicure without having to even leave the villa! After a year of home school it’s the ultimate dream!
8. In-house chef
Possibly my favourite extra available with your booking is the in-house chef, available to cook dinner or breakfast in your villa for 4-25 guests using fresh local Cretan foods. They also offer a BBQ cook to prepare the grill, cook the meat and provide all of the necessary materials. What a huge stress that takes out of meal times!
9. Trips and Tours
Although the villa itself is perfect for enjoying for the duration of your stay, for those who would like to explore Crete further you can book onto organised trips and tours where everything is taken care of. If you enjoy water sports they offer snorkelling, scuba diving and boat trips, and for those looking for something different you can try 4×4’s, baggies, horse riding, trips to the mountains, a winery tour, cooking lessons, olive press tour and even visiting local museums and historical sites.

Just a 45 minute transfer from Chania Airport, or 2 hours from Heraklion, there is so much to see and do in an easily accessibly radius.
