Get Well Soon With Baby Annabell ** WIN **
Anyone who has followed us for a while now will know that Megan has been through a really rough time with her health over the years. As a young baby spending the first year of her life in and out of hospital, we always hoped that things would improve as she grew. Sadly, it turns out that wasn’t the case and, over the last 12 months especially she has been back in and out of hospital with E-Coli, repeated bouts of tonsillitis and every sickness or flu bug going. And so when we were invited to review Baby Annabell Hospital and Baby Annabell Milly Feels Better, it came at the perfect time for our poorly little girl to not only play with at home, but to take away some of her own fears of being unwell and the associated hospital visits.
Baby Annabell Baby Milly Feels Better is the perfect doll to encourage nurturing, kindness and sympathy between a child and their doll. The set comes with a 43cm doll, a removable babygro and hat, a stethoscope, spoon, medicine bottle, injection and a heart-shaped monitor and honestly, the second Megan saw her she just fell in love
Battery operated (not included), Baby Milly laughs and giggles, especially when you tickle her tummy, but at the touch of a button her cheeks turn bright red and she becomes very unwell! Megan absolutely loved this having spent the whole week with bright red cheeks due to a temperature and, using the heart shaped thermometer she was delighted to see the reading turn from 37 to 40 and said, “Mummy, her temperature is 40 just like mine was!”.
Megan loved checking Baby Milly’s heart rate with the stethoscope in the same way the doctor checks hers when we visit. After all of these appointments she’s a real pro and it was funny to hear her mimic our own doctor with the phrases she said as she used the stethoscope, “I’ll just blow on this to warm it up!”.
I personally loved the medicine and spoon which actually stop Baby Milly from crying. We really struggle to get Megan to take her medicine, often it results in so much crying and retching she ends up vomiting, so it’s a real ordeal! As Megan gave Baby Milly her medicine we talked about the importance of taking your medicine to feel better and, as Baby Milly stopped crying I could see this really registered with Megan! Later, when it was time for Megan to have her medicine, she took it without a single moments fuss!
In the next couple of months Megan will be having her tonsils removed (fingers crossed!) and this is something she has a huge amount of anxiety about, and understandably so. For that reason I think the Baby Annabell Hospital is going to really help Megan to ease some of her worries and open up conversations through play where we can reassure her that she will be absolutely fine and this is the best thing for her going forward.
The hospital comes in an amazing building shaped play set with a velcro fastening door to hide it all away at the end of the day (bonus!) whilst making it super easy to transport too. Inside you will find a fold down bed with pillow and blanket, a doctors badge, clip board, stethoscope, bandages, a thermometer, injection, medicine and an auriscope (a tool to look in your ears to you and me!).
The hospital set doesn’t come with a doll but can be used with any Baby Annabell doll, or any doll your child may already have. Megan couldn’t wait to put on her badge and become Doctor Dove ready to nurse her patient!
With Baby Milly tucked up in her hospital bed Megan enjoyed taking her temperature, checking her ears, and giving her injections. I’m hoping that this will help when it comes to Megan having her canular fitted at the time of her surgery as honestly, in previous attempts, it has been a four man job to hold her down. This girl is fierce!
Megan’s favourite thing about the hospital was the bandages, stored in a bag on one of the hooks where you can hang up clothes and accessories, with velcro ends so you can really bandage your Baby Annabell doll.
When Baby Milly’s leg was bandaged Doctor Dove enjoyed writing up her medical notes and took great pleasure in telling me that poor Baby Milly had broken her leg from falling out of her high chair! I just love her imagination!
With Christmas not too far away I think Baby Milly Feels Better and Baby Annabells Hospital are going to be two very popular gift choices this year! We would absolutely recommend them to all Baby Annabell fans, and for those who perhaps need a little reassurance about their own upcoming hospital stays or illnesses. I can see these toys being a firm favourite for a long time to come.
