It could be that you found your calling very early in life and this is what you have done since then – and you still love it. It might be that you work in a field that you loved, but over time it has become less of a challenge, less enjoyable and you are doubting if this is something you even want to do anymore. Or maybe you have been made redundant and you are left looking for something else that has you wondering what else is out there. Do your research

There are so many careers out there, it is a good idea to do your research and find one that suits you. It could be you want to be a personal trainer, or perhaps you want to be a personal injury lawyer and help people who have got hurt avoiding warehouse accidents. No matter what it is you want, look up what qualifications or skills you will need and go from there.

Speak to others in the career already

One of the best ways to get an idea of what a career is actually like, is to speak to people who do it already. You could find people on Linkedin that you chat to and discover the skills they have and what the day to day workings of the role are. You could speak to friends and family members who already do the job and you could also put a status up on social media to ask for advice. Or why not join different career support groups such as on Facebook where you can ask questions and get advice?

Take a look at the skills and qualifications you already have

It could be that you are unfulfilled in the career you already have, but you can transfer your skills, qualifications and personality attributes to something new. Take a look at what you already have and think about how you can transfer these to a new role. You can do quizzes online which can show you how you can transfer your skills and personality traits to something that is new. This will also make it easier for new recruiters to hire you as they can see evidence that you have already got the skills they need for you to complete the role well.
