Favourite Toys for Children

With Christmas fast approaching, it’s time to find the perfect present for your little ones. There are many great choices to surprise children when they rush to the Christmas tree in the morning, but if you’re having a little trouble deciding on the ideal gift, here are few toy favourites.

Bikes and Scooters

Bikes and scooters are true and tested kid favourite, offering a versatile present with many benefits. First and foremost, they both encourage children to get outside for some physical exercise. There’s nothing better than getting outdoors for some active play and riding to explore new places.

Kids bikes are also a fantastic social tool. Groups of friends can get together and enjoy their local skatepark or dirt tracks. Scooters are usually a better option for younger children, especially if they are still learning how to ride a bike.

Finally, a kids bicycle or scooter offers a practical way to get to school, shops or a friend’s house. Ensure they understand the road rules and that they are always wearing a helmet.

Building Blocks

One of the most popular toys among children of all ages, building blocks like LEGO or DUPLO are always winners on Christmas day. They come in many different themes for both genders, so you’ll be sure to find a set that resonates with your child.

Building blocks are also a wonderful way to promote creativity in kids. After they have had fun following the instructions and building what was intended, they can pull it apart and let their creative juices flow. Keep in mind that smaller building blocks can be a choking hazard, so it’s better to stick with larger blocks for younger kids.

Also, make sure that all building blocks are packed away securely after play time is over – stepping on a piece of LEGO is never a fun experience!

Video Game Consoles

With proper supervision, video games can be another good choice as the big Christmas present. Older video game consoles like the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 can be found relatively cheap second hand on Ebay and are a great fit for young children.

These video game consoles have an extensive catalogue of child-friendly games, designed to be easy to play, while also being a lot of fun. Just remember, like any type of screen activity, it should be limited to make certain kids are still getting plenty of fresh air outside.

Board Games

If you’re not to keen on video games but still need a fun activity for those rainy, indoor days perhaps a board game is a more appealing option. They also provide an opportunity for the whole family to get together and spend some quality time together.

There are board games for all ages, that range from simple like Chutes & Ladders, to the more complex like the classic Monopoly. Some of these games can also be an opportunity for learning, such as Scrabble or to get up moving such as Twister. Either way, most board game nights end in a barrel of laughs.

Trampoline

If you have enough backyard space, a trampoline can be a very exciting gift idea. Unlike trampolines of the past, modern trampolines include safety netting keeping children safe from exposed springs.
