Enhancing Bedroom Design with AI: A Modern Approach

Bedroom design is one activity that benefits from inspiration from photos and videos on sites like Pinterest and YouTube, as well as house-buying apps like Rightmove.

AI tools like Picsart also let you describe a bedroom and generate room designs with or without additional inputs.

For example, we just put ‘minimalist bedroom’ in and got these images:

You can also get more specific. Our search for ‘Scandinavian bedroom with yellow’ gave us these interesting results:

All of these designs look fantastic, and even though they aren’t perfect – the minimalist spaces need a pop of red or orange – they give you an excellent base to work from, and that’s the benefit of enhancing bedroom design with AI.

AI for bedroom interior design

Interior designers have traditionally used software tools that provide stock imagery of bed frames and resizable and rotatable furniture to create spaces. AI is different because it does all the placement for you.

The benefits:

  • Speed – Picsart (and other AI tools) create ideas and concepts within seconds.
  • Adjustability – Prompt the tool to refine your designs with colours, styles like Art Deco, and lighting arrangements.
  • Accessibility – no expert skills or interior design know-how required. Homeowners like you can use them to create pro designs.

Professionals use AI tools to make their lives easier, and you can, too.

How to use AI to design bedrooms

You tell AI tools like Picsart what to create with prompts like ‘grey bedroom with pops of blue’ and ‘large bedroom with mid-century elements.’

You can also ask AI tools to generate specific bedroom elements, like classic bed frames, poster beds, triple wardrobes, and net curtains.

The downside to Picsart and other AI generation tools is that they don’t actually create designs for your space—they just generate general concepts for other spaces.

The good news is that you can get AI tools that let you upload images of your bedroom and get designs for your actual bedroom.

A few options:

Beware that AI interior design tools are premium products – you might get a free trial, but most have paid plans to bring the features you want. When signing up, check the trial terms if you are asked for a payment card.

Who owns the images?

That depends on the AI tool, but in general, you own all intellectual property rights in the resulting AI-generated images unless the terms say otherwise. This means you can use the photos for personal or commercial purposes (but check first).

Pinterest vs AI for bedroom inspiration

Pinterest is easier than AI because one search result provides hundreds or thousands of ideas simultaneously.

We’d say Pinterest is better than AI for bedroom inspiration, but if you can’t find what you want, AI can take over – and the same goes for results on YouTube or other places you look for bedroom makeover ideas.

Pinterest ideas come from human designers and users, while AI generates concepts based on its training data, so the results on Pinterest can be of higher quality, even if they don’t provide the excitement of personal creation.

Summing up

AI is a fantastic tool for creating bedroom design ideas, whether you want to upload a photo of your bedroom for something specific or get general ideas.

Other apps like Instagram, Pinterest, and Google Images inspire more quickly, but they don’t provide any refinement of images.

We say using AI to design your bedroom is a smart move—at the very least, you’ll be able to use a few ideas to create a beautiful space.
