5 Reasons Why Ibiza Is Perfect For A Family Holiday

Ibiza is perfect for a family holiday feels like an oxymoron. Ibiza is synonymous with neon lights, alcohol, and people partying till the sun comes up. But Ibiza is also one of the most beautiful and most famous travel destinations on Earth.

So how do we have fun there with a family in tow?

Well, it can be done. This beautiful island is safe, clean, and has a ton of options for family activities that both your kids and you can enjoy.

Ibiza has proven it can be family-friendly and still do it the Ibiza way.

Family Fun At The Beach

A beach visit is a must when vacationing at a place like Ibiza. It’s known for its vibrant beaches and calm, warm waters that are perfect for the whole family.

Calla Bassa beach’s shallow rock pools are a favorite of parents and kids alike. It’s safe for young kids and is more like a natural pool. There are even banana floaties available to enjoy.

For older kids, try Cala Vadella. There are also snorkeling and stand-up battle boarding activities available. While beaches are tons of fun, be sure to keep your family safe around the water, apply sunblock and find shade. Ibiza sun is harsh in the summer.

Another perfect beach activity with your family is a boat ride. Hire a boat in Ibiza and experience Ibiza’s crystalline ocean in all its glory.

Family-Friendly Waterparks

For those with kids that aren’t familiar with the ocean or toddlers that struggle with saltwater, water parks are a great alternative.

One of the most well-known and frequently visited waterparks in Ibiza is Aguamar in Playa d’en Bossa. Aguamar is especially great if you have little ones. It has play sections that have awesome slides, pools, and lawns for picnics.

Gran Piruleto Park isn’t a waterpark, but a small playground. But their grand feature is Lolipop Splash, a 13-foot high octopus that shoots jets of water from its tentacles. Gran Piruleto specializes in hosting birthday parties and has round-the-clock supervision for the little ones.

Cultural Experiences

Ibiza is packed full of local markets and festivals celebrating local food, music, and arts. The shows and festivals are year-round with activities that will introduce your kids to the local lifestyle.

The world is a diverse place. Teaching your kids about other cultures will help them develop great social skills and respect for different people around the world.

In Santa Eulària des Riu, you’ll find the Barruguet Family Theater Festival. They host shows and live performances from all over Spain, making it a great way to enjoy the local culture.

The Barruguet Festival hosts around 20 different shows in various art forms, including puppet shows, mimes, and music shows. There are free shows and affordable, paid admission ones available.

Abundance Of Outdoor Activities

If you’re traveling with kids, nothing puts them to sleep early like an activity-filled day outdoors.

A great choice for an island adventure is Acrobosc Park. Acrobosc Park has 5 zip lines for children from the ages of 3 and up. There are also bridge circuits for the kids to enjoy as they play around the treetops.

Finca Cam Munson is a farm that doubles as an animal park.  The $6 entrance fee comes with the chance to feed farm animals like pigs, turkeys, and goats. On occasion, pony rides are available for kids to enjoy.

Ibiza Horse Valley is a horseback riding service that was established in 2010 as a rehabilitation program for mistreated horses. The Valley does horseback tours on the north side of the island and welcomes all riding classes; from beginner to expert. This activity is for older kids with the youngest accepted age being 14 years old.

Historical Sights

Ibiza started out as a Phoenician port town in 654 BC and has a rich and varied history worth exploring.

The Can Marçà caves were formed over 100 000 years ago and were used by smugglers and pirates to hide their illegal goods. The cave has a 40 minute guided tour every 45 minutes and an amazing waterfall light and music show.

Can Marçà also has a cafeteria, souvenir shop and opens onto a cliffside with beautiful ocean views.

Puig Des Molins is one of the oldest places in Ibiza. The museum is right in the city and has over 3,000 tombs. There are around 340 caves open to the public. Puig Des Molins has a museum on-site with artifacts taken from the burial site.
