5 bedroom ideas to make everyone happy
When it comes to designing the children’s bedrooms there are always obstacles to overcome. For me, as a parent, it is important to have something practical which will grow with my child and for them it’s all about bright colours, cartoon characters and more sparkle than you can possible imagine! And as much as I like to humour the girls love of unicorns, or Harry’s obsession with Paw Patrol, when it comes to my home I’m really rather a fan of a more neutral colour scheme.
For that reason I’ve been coming up with five stylish bedroom ideas to make both me and the kids happy!
Sleepover Savvy
When we moved into our new house my girls were desperate to share a bedroom and yet I was a little worried about how it would go. Would they keep each other awake at night? Would the room be too cramped with two beds? It turns out the bunk beds were the perfect answer, saved space and actually, the girls lie in bed chatting on a weekend instead of waking us! Bonus!

Pillow Aplenty
If there’s one thing my children love it’s pillows and cushions, and they are a great way of accessorising a room. Letting your child pick out some pillows is always a fun way of allowing your child to get involved in the design process and, believe me, my children are pretty much experts on the best den building cushions out there! With clutter pillows available in all different shapes, sizes and colours, you can really allow your child to put their stamp on a room.

Sorted with Storage
Before designing a new bedroom for the children I always try and have a huge clear out of their toys, all of which they suddenly decide are their absolute favourite and they can’t bear to part with! If you’re struggling to find extra floor space for storage furniture, then a midsleeper or cabin bed is a great space saving solution. Designed to keep clutter at bay, midsleeper and cabin beds can include freestanding storage drawers, bookcases and even desks.

Beautiful Bookcases
My children love to read and I’ve lost count of the number of books we have! Bookshelves are a great way to store the children’s favourite and most treasured books, but also super handy to store other bits and pieces too. Take advantage of all the shelves and store something different on each shelf, this could include photo albums, trinkets and soft toys.

Fun accessorises
One way to keep the children sweet is to allow them to choose some really fun and exciting accessories in their bedroom. This could be anything from large cuddly toys, bed canopies, play mats or gorgeous teepees.

We love Ollie and Leila for everything from children’s beds, furniture, accessories and soft furnishings. I’m hoping that taking these tips on board will make our next bedroom renovation a little easier!!

You have definitely included some great design options here. Anything to maximize the space and minimize clutter and mess is the way to go. When it comes to decorating, I love the idea of including input from the children as they feel more ownership of the outcome and overall appearance.
