3 Ways for Busy Mums to Pamper Themselves (Without Spending Too Much!)

Whether your stress levels at work have hit an all-time high or you just desperately need some ‘me time’, when you’re juggling work and family life, taking time out can be immensely difficult.

However, over the years I’ve learned that even if you only get 30 minutes relaxing in the bath, this time is hugely important. Refocusing the mind, it helps you deal with your day-to-day tasks and makes sure you’re far more productive and positive.

With that in mind, here are some of my ideas for pampering yourself – but on a budget:

  1. Make-Your-Own Beauty Products

Some people swear by natural homemade face masks and you don’t have to look far to find plenty of inspiration online. In fact, you’ll probably find plenty of recipes that include things in your food cupboard, so you don’t even need to plan ahead.

From honey and lemon to eggy face masks, the possibilities are endless – and very beneficial for your skin!

  1. Create an At-Home Spa

Treat yourself to some products that will help you make your home a spa-like sanctuary. Whether it’s incense sticks that help you relax and unwind or a gorgeous facial scrub that rejuvenates your skin, places like Neal’s Yard Remedies are ideal.

And even though you might have to spend a little to get some nice products, you’ll be able to use them time and time again, which will save you plenty of money in the long run. You can even do this with high-quality nail polishes. So while they may seem like a bit of an investment to start with, they’re much cheaper than a manicure, lasting a long time both in the bottle and on your nails.

  1. Take a Staycation (Even If It’s Just for a Day)

If you feel like you’re about to burnout or you haven’t had some time to yourself for a very long time, book yourself a day off.

Then, when you’ve dropped the kids off at school, come home, leave the chores and get busy doing nothing. Whether you love to sit and read or you want to watch your favourite film, be selfish and enjoy this much-needed ‘me time’.

Chances are, by the time you need to pick the kids up from school, you’ll feel energised and as though you need to do something productive. But having this time to really chill out will help you reflect and gather your thoughts – something us busy mums need to do but don’t often do!

Overall, it doesn’t have to be difficult to jump off this rollercoaster called life – even if it’s just for an hour or two.
