The next advent calendar in my Advent Calendar giveaways is for the grown ups – That Boutique-y Gin Company Advent Calendar – and I think we will all agree, has never been more necessary! I was late to the party when it came to gin, I always saw it as a very grown up drink, but in recent years perhaps I’ve grown up as now a good raspberry gin is always going to be my drink of choice!
That Boutique-y Gin Advent Calendar has 24 doors, each hiding a 30ml wax-sealed dram of gin from That Boutique-y Gin Company’s extensive range. Although pricey at £50, when you work it out at just over £2 a door that’s a small price to pay for a delicious drink at the end of it…or the morning, whatever floats your boat.

There are so many gins I like. Bombay Sapphire is my go-to for hostess gifts. Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla will always remind me of going to Blackpool last summer to conquer the last of my silly childhood phobias, because I tried it for the first time in Spoons the night before I successfully faced my fear. (I can’t recall a lot of the night after, except that I wound up in a rock bar called the ‘Tache to celebrate, and being used to London drink prices, I went rather overboard on the cheap Northern booze and had to pay extra for late checkout at the B&B the following day …) Last time I went to the Gin and Rum show, I was rather taken with Brockman’s gin.
