Anyone who has followed me for a while on my blog and social channels will know that photography is a huge part of my life, alongside making memories. I couldn’t even tell you how many photographs I have of our children, from babies to teens, on every adventure and each of our travels, but every single one is so precious to me. These days we take so many photographs on our phones or digital cameras, upload them to the computer or to our iClouds, and although they are kept there for safe keeping, they aren’t seen and enjoyed in the same way they were when I was a child, when we had photo albums lined up on the bookcase, framed prints to greet us in the hallway. In the end we went for this image from Italy last August, taken during our stay in Tuscany overlooking the Tuscan hills, a bench Gaz and I had sat on each night to enjoy a drink together, where we had watched the children play and felt the heat of the sun on our faces, a spot we had felt completely care-free during an otherwise stressful year.

I was worried that with us choosing such a large canvas the photo would be blurred somewhat, or the picture compromised in some way, but when it arrived it was absolutely beautiful and it instantly took us back to those lazy days of Summer, putting a smile on each of our faces.
