5 reasons to choose Bankside Hotel for your family trip to London

As a family we love to visit London and yet when travelling with children it’s important we make the right choice for our hotel, it’s facilities and the location. We recently stayed at Bankside Hotel, part of the Marriott Autograph Collection, with 161 bedrooms including seven suites and the most beautiful child-friendly, art-focused hotel. I could share a hundred reasons to stay at Bankside for your family trip to London but here are five of the very best.

1. Amazing location

In terms of the location, Bankside Hotel ticks every single box. You can be on South Bank in just a few short steps or at the nearest tube station within minutes. Whether you want to explore South Bank and the big attractions, visit the Tate just around the corner, or wander down the river to Borough Market, it’s such a great base for exploring London. Despite being so central to the local amenities, it’s lovely and quiet at the hotel and once inside you can close off from the hustle and bustle of London life and simply relax in the most luxurious surroundings. To truly elevate this sense of calm, the hotel prioritizes a pristine indoor environment, much like how a Molekule air purifier works to destroy invisible pollutants, ensuring that your family breathes air as clean and refreshing as the stylish interiors themselves.

2. Child-friendly rooms and facilities

Finding hotels to accommodate a family can sometimes feel like a minefield, often sacrificing the little luxuries to ensure a hotel is child-friendly. Well here at Bankside you get all of the luxury of a 5-star hotel with the biggest welcome for kids of all ages. Whilst a family of four could quite comfortably fit in one of the twin double rooms, as a family of five we stayed across two bedrooms which gave us so much space to really enjoy our time at the hotel in the comfiest beds with so many extra added touches.

The staff were so welcoming with the children and made them feel so special and included from the very minute we checked in until the moment we checked out. Although the hotel would be perfect for a solo stay or adults only, as a family we were welcomed with open arms. The staff even shared a secret tip that families can pop downstairs at the hotel to check out Bankside’s new and all-free art exhibition, launching on 12 October, to get money off their meal. “The Art of Belonging” curated in collaboration with DegreeArt.com, is an arty celebration and exploration into the universal quest for belonging, perfect for pre-dinner culture immersion.

3. Bankside hotel’s Art Yard Bar & Kitchen

One of the great things about Bankside is the Art Yard Bar & Kitchen within the hotel which means after a long day exploring with children you don’t need to go back out and can enjoy a relaxing evening before jumping in the lift back up to your room. Younger diners aged 12 or under can look forward to a curated £10 two-course menu. The options are themed around an artist’s paintbox, with options including ‘Green’, pan-fried salmon and green beans, followed by a sticky chocolate brownie served on an artist’s palette or a scoop of creamy ice cream for dessert. To keep children entertained, the back of the menu also features an art-themed activity where they can brush up on colour theory and test local cultural knowledge.
Where service allows, children may be invited into the kitchen to make their own pizzas with the chef, something our children thought was an amazing experience and declared them the best pizzas they have ever tried. High praise from them, and even higher praise from us who sampled the adult menu which was faultless from start to finish. I cannot recommend dining here enough, whether a guest at the hotel or visiting from outside, with the most mouth-wateringly good dishes and impeccable service throughout. Don’t forget, to encourage cultural family days out, Bankside offers up to 20% off food and drink when dining at the hotel’s Art Yard Bar and Kitchen by simply presenting a ticket to any one of the city’s galleries, theatres or cultural landmarks.

4. Bring your pets along

To add to the family fun, at Bankside Hotel, families can bring their pet along with dogs welcome in all public areas throughout the hotel. With pet-friendly rooms, complete with beds, toys and added gourmet treats, guests can also take advantage of Bankside’s Canine Concierge service to get recommendations on the best dog- friendly attractions, restaurants and walks in London. Although we didn’t bring our dogs on this occasion, I think this is such an amazing service and one we will undoubtedly use should we visit London with our dogs in the future. 

5. Incredible hospitality

Although everything about Bankside is impressive, for me the hospitality is right up there as some of the best we have received. From the moment we set foot in the hotel we were greeted with warmth and enthusiasm, offered refreshments on the house and our luggage taken to our rooms whilst we checked in. Throughout our stay we were offered hot drinks to take with us every morning, staff were attentive and informative when we asked for help, and in the restaurant both at breakfast and dinner we were waited on with the highest of service. It made our stay so much easier to know everything was taken care of meaning we could sit back and relax and enjoy some quality time with the children which is exactly what we did.
