10 reasons to fly from Liverpool to Frankfurt with Lufthansa

Back in May Liverpool John Lennon Airport announced some major news – a new Lufthansa Airline route between Liverpool and Frankfurt, Germany. Not only was this the first time in 66 years that Lufthansa would take off from Liverpool, but in just one hour and forty minutes passengers can land down in Frankfurt and take connecting flights to over 150 destinations worldwide.

Last week I was lucky enough to be invited along to try the new Liverpool to Frankfurt route for myself and I experienced what can only be described as a seamless service. As a nervous flyer I felt extremely calm and relaxed and the connection at Frankfurt couldn’t have been easier. I’ll be sharing more about my onward trip from Frankfurt to Berlin but for now, I wanted to share ten amazing reasons to take the new Lufthansa route to Frankfurt from Liverpool Airport.

1. Lufthansa’s new route from Liverpool connects the city to the world via the airline’s hub in Frankfurt

This is such great news for Liverpool, not only connecting passengers to Frankfurt for onward journeys, but connecting the world to Liverpool which will bring huge benefits to the business sector across the region both now and into the future. It will undoubtedly be a huge boost for tourism across the city and its surrounding areas and is such a positive move for the tourism and entertainment industry throughout Merseyside.

2. Travel to 5 continents from Liverpool

Jetting off to a far flung destination doesn’t have to mean a lengthy journey and navigating numerous airport terminals before you’ve even left home soil. With the new Lufthansa route you can visit five different continents and destinations such as Dubai, New York, Sydney, Delhi, Orlando, Singapore, Los Angeles, Johannasberg, Sau Paulo just to name a few.

3. Connections at Frankfurt Airport are seamless, easy and there’s plenty there to keep you entertained between flights

With Frankfurt Airport being the largest in Germany, covering a whopping 23km², you can rest assured there is plenty to keep you entertained between flights. The airport offers countless shops, restaurants, bars, cafes, spas, roof top sun terraces and much more. Whether your waiting time is one hour or five hours, there is so much to see and do and should you need a rest before your next flight they even have snooze pods to hire too!

4. The North West’s Faster, Easier, Friendlier Airport

With all of the current issues being experienced at airports throughout the country, Liverpool airport are one of very few who can still boast short queueing times. In 2019, they averaged security queues of less than 10 minutes, and they continue to have low queueing times throughout 2022. During our flight to Frankfurt last week we queued for just a couple of minutes to check-in our bags and we were through security and browsing the Duty Free store in under five. It was a world away from our experience at Manchester Airport back in May and a far less stressful way to start your holiday!

5. Liverpool offers a clean and spacious terminal with bars and restaurants

Although Liverpool is a smaller airport, it offers everything you need when taking a flight. You will find a choice of restaurants, bars and shops and this year they are heavily investing in the airport to include Greggs, Upper Crust and a revamped JD. There were no queues in the shops or restaurants as others are experiencing throughout the country and once I’d ordered my cooked breakfast on the morning of my flight I was eating it just five minutes later.

6. New Meet & Greet Service

The new Meet & Greet Service at Liverpool airport takes all of the stress out of finding a place to park. You can simply drop your car off near the terminal and one of their expert and fully insured drivers will do the rest. Then when you return from your trip, your car will be ready and waiting for you – simple!!

7. Transferring at Frankfurt breaks up the flight for nervous flyers

I know often passengers will choose a direct route for a simpler journey without the hassle of transfers but, for those of us who are nervous flyers, having that stop over during the journey is a huge relief. For me, part of my fear of flying comes from the loss of control, feelings of claustraphobia and the overwhelming sense of panic during a longer flight that I am stuck on the plane for far too long. Breaking up the journey into two shorter flights was so much more manageable and actually, probably the most relaxed I have been on a flight in a long time.

8. And is the perfect break for those travelling with kids

Taking longer flights with children can feel daunting which is why, with a flight time of just one hour forty to Frankfurt, the new Lufthansa route makes it easier to travel as a family too. Parents can use the connection time in Frankfurt to get something to eat, change nappies, prepare bottles, give their children time to burn off some energy and recharge before taking the next flight further afield. It’s such a great way to break up the trip!

9. Competitive prices with Lufthansa

The great thing is that although you’re getting the convenience of flying from the North West instead of travelling to busier airports to reach worldwide destinations, you aren’t paying the price for it! Lufthansa air fares are extremely competitive and in return you get a professional 5-star service and even, much to our delight, a Lufthansa bar of chocolate on every flight. If that’s not an incentive I don’t know what is!

10. Visit Berlin

Taking a connecting flight from Frankfurt with Lufthansa can take you to over 150 onward destinations and, whilst many may travel further afield, you can also explore more of Germany itself. We flew to Berlin, just an hour away, and had an amazing time exploring a city so rich in history, culture and all the sausage and steins you could ever wish for!
