What makes a great pair of jeans?

If you’ve ever owned a pair of jeans you’ve truly loved, you will know that they tend to fit like your own skin, and will seem like the most comfortable clothing you will ever own. If you are in the market for a new pair of jeans, a good tip I can offer you is to base the measurements of the old pair to find the perfect new pair! What other methods can you use to help you narrow down the search? Keep reading!

Make it fit

Knowing what your actual measurements are is a great place to start when shopping for new clothes. For jeans, I would recommend that you take your waist measurement and inseam measurement. You can also measure what rise you would prefer, by checking how high you would like the jeans to fit. Measure the rise by measuring from the crotch to where the waistband goes.

A perfect fit can still be destroyed by poorly-places accessories. Back pockets in the wrong place can give an illusion of a smaller or larger bottom and depending on your preference it’s important to check those pockets! The “bottom line”? Check what your behind looks like when trying on jeans! Another thing to check is how the jeans are fastened – buttons, zippers, or a combination of both? If you’re feeling adventurous, you could even venture into experimenting with lace-up jeans!

Keep it colorful

Sky blue is currently a high-fashion color, but if sky blue won’t work with the rest of the clothing in your wardrobe, you might have to reconsider fashion vs. practiciality. The benefit of dark washes over light is that dark colors tend to be more versatile, working in casual and work-related environments. If you fancy something a bit more exciting, why not depart from the classic colors and go for something dark in a completely different color, like burgundy or dark green?

Buy for your shape

In today’s styles Jeans for women who are pear-shaped tend to be designed to make the hips and thighs appear narrower, and the legs longer. If you are pear shaped, your hips and thighs are probably the widest part of your body, and one of the problems you are likely to have to deal with is jeans that fit your hips but are too big for your waist. A contoured fit will solve this problem. This will allow the cut to follow your natural curves, instead of being straight across the waist.

The best pair of jeans is made of firm fabric that sits comfortably, and has a stable panel across the stomach to keep wobbly bits at bay. Whether you choose loose, tailored, skinny, flared or anything in between, rest assured that with the right amount of effort, there is a pair of jeans out there for you!
