The 5 best things to do in Cannes with kids
During a year we’ve stayed at home I’ve been spending a lot of time researching and planning for our travels just as soon as restrictions lift and we can get back to Europe. I have alway loved France, and spent a great deal of time there during my childhood, and although we have briefly visited twice now with the children, there is still so much of it I want to see – starting with Cannes!
Cannes is the most beautiful resort town on the French Riviera, famed for its international film festival, its sandy beaches, stunning hotels and bustling night life. Although at first glance it may not appear to be the first choice for a family holiday, it actually has to much to offer for all ages.
1. Charter your own yacht

2. Visit Le Monastere Fortifie
The fortified monastery is located in Cannes and built out into the sea on its own island and accessed via a 20 minute ferry ride from Cannes. Free to enter and look around, the Monastery is bursting with history, has beautiful walks to enjoy as well as a gift shop, bar and restaurant and a chapel to explore. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon with the kids!
3. Spend a day at Plage Mace
Plage Mace in Cannes is a beautiful white sandy beach with clear blue waters and popular with tourists. You can hire chairs and loungers for the day as well as having all of the nearby facilities in the town. It’s incredibly safe which is important with children and a lovely retreat to kick back and relax for the day!
4. Visit a Museum
Cannes has a rich maritime heritage with several museums to enjoy, many perfect for children who have an interest in history and particularly maritime too. Many of the museums are free to enter so not only is it a fun day out, but it doesn’t have to break the bank either.
5. Catch a movie
Famous for its Film Festival, you can’t visit Cannes and not catch a movie! No other city in Europe honours the cinema like Cannes does and the extravagance of their cinema reflects this. It’s the perfect activity for a rainy day or visit an outdoor theatre and take in a little french culture too!
