How to Be a Little (Or a Lot) Less Anxious

If you are amongst the many millions of people in this country who often feel more anxious than you really should be in any given situation, from giving a presentation at work to simply visiting the local supermarket, then you are not alone, and you certainly do not have to continue suffering.

Sometimes, the best thing to do is see your doctor especially if your anxiety is excessive and happens in situations where you would not expect anxiety to be an issue, but for those other times, there are lots of things you can try yourself that may work too. Let’s take a look at some of them now.

  1. CBD is (Almost) All You Need

First on the agenda: Naturecan CBD oil. It’s the talk of the town and might just be the chill-out elixir you’ve been looking for. A few drops can help soothe your jangling nerves, like a cup of tea for your inner storm. It’s like the calm cousin of the cannabis family, minus the high.

  1. Breathing: It’s Not Just for Staying Alive

Breathing exercises are not just for yogis or when you’re trying to hold your breath underwater. Deep breathing is a legit way to tell your overactive brain to take a chill pill. Try the 4-7-8 technique: breathe in for 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds, and breathe out for 8 seconds. It’s like a reset button for your nervous system.

  1. Move It to Lose It (The Anxiety, I Mean)

Exercise: you either love it or hate it, but you can’t deny it’s good for kicking anxiety’s butt. It doesn’t have to be a marathon (unless you’re into that sort of thing). A brisk walk, a bit of yoga, or dancing around your room like nobody’s watching (because hopefully, they’re not) can work wonders.

  1. Get Your Zs

Sleep and anxiety are like those life partners who can’t decide whether they’re on or off. Lack of sleep can increase anxiety, and anxiety can mess up your sleep. Aim for 7-9 hours of good-quality sleep. Yes, that might mean bidding farewell to late-night scrolling sessions – your brain will thank you.

  1. Eat Like Your Mood Depends on It

Your diet affects more than just your waistline – it can impact your mood too. Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and B vitamins can help manage anxiety. So, maybe swap that third cup of coffee for a green smoothie? Your jitters will thank you.

  1. Laugh Like Nobody’s Listening

Never underestimate the power of a good laugh. It’s like kryptonite to anxiety. Watch a comedy, listen to a funny podcast, or call that friend who always has a hilarious story. It’s like giving your mind a joyride.

  1. Talk It Out

Sometimes, the best way to deal with anxiety is to talk about it. Whether it’s a therapist, a friend, or your dog (they’re great listeners), getting it off your chest can be incredibly therapeutic. It’s like decluttering your mental closet.

  1. Mindfulness: Be Here Now (No, Really)

Mindfulness isn’t just a buzzword – it’s a tool. Being present in the moment can help silence the “what ifs” and “should haves” that fuel anxiety. It’s like putting your mind on a leash so it doesn’t run off chasing every stressful thought.

Anxiety who?
