#AD What I Buy for a Beach Day in Britain

We’ve had our fair share of unforgettable family holidays this year but when a heatwave hits the UK like it did this bank holiday weekend, there’s nothing better than getting the whole family in the car and heading to our nearest beach. British beaches get a bad press but they can be so beautiful, the children’s favourites have to be either St Anne’s or Fleetwood beach. However, even if the forecast is saying full sun, British weather is notoriously unpredictable and I always like to be fully prepared for any weather eventuality. It’s safe to say I don’t pack light for days like these, but buying pretty summer outdoor items doesn’t have to be expensive, simply use these Joules discount codes and you can get gorgeous clothing, home and outdoor items for less. Here are the beach essentials I picked up for our latest family day out.

Top Quality Towels

As much as it is impossible to stop sand getting everywhere after a day at the beach, I certainly try to prevent it. This is why I always bring as plenty of towels for the children to both dry off from the sea and lie on when sunbathing. They are also vital to lay out our picnic so that we can all enjoy our picnic without having to endure sandy sandwiches. While I do have a collection of towels, I saw this one on the Joules’ website recently and knew that I needed to have it. I was attracted by the striking fruit salad pattern (of course) which just screams summer and once I felt how soft the towel was, I was completely sold. I had to stop myself from buying the whole collection.

A Super Cute Bluetooth Speaker

Whilst the children are off building sandcastles and collecting shells, my husband and I love relaxing to a little bit of music and soaking up the sunshine. I recently invested in a portable bluetooth speaker from Joules and it’s one of the best purchases I have made, I really don’t know what I did without one! Not only is the sound quality amazing, the speaker is decorated in a gorgeous floral print! As everyone already knows, I am obsessed with florals, so this speaker really ticks every box. The speaker is so lightweight that I can slip it into my handbag and then get it out whenever we fancy listening to a tune.

A Pretty Polka Dot Patterned Swimsuit

I love buying the children new and great quality clothes, so when Megan grew out of her swimsuit, I made it my mission to find her one for this summer that would last her longer. I recently found her this pretty tankini from Joules – I almost wish they made one in my size, I love the print that much. The swimsuit has an UPF of 50+, which means only 1/50th of the sun’s rays can pass through the fabric. I don’t know about you, but sun creaming the children is always a challenge so any extra sun protection is welcome. What’s more, this super cute set was in the sale for only £9.95 so it will be slightly less painful when she does inevitably grow out of it.

A Waterproof Washbag

Everytime I go to the beach, I am surprised about how many toiletries I need to bring – admittedly I forget most of them. There’s suncream, lip balm, hair gel, baby wipes, shampoo and conditioner (if the children want a shower). To help me organise all these small but vital items, I picked up this cute cotton wash bag that I could fit easily in my larger handbag and ensure all the necessities are in one place. I love that it has the classic Joules hare print and the lemon yellow colour goes perfectly with my vibrant summery colour palette. The bag also has a waterproof lining which is a lifesaver when you get an inevitable toiletry spillage.

These purchases have made beach days with the family far more manageable and I now find myself longing for another heat wave so that I can make use of all of the items all over again. Fingers crossed for more sunshine and beach days into September!
